Shiny new thread for the BSD'ers. Best thing you can do is first read the MM bsd book do you get a full grasp of what the rules are but in a nutshell:
800 calories a day
No bread/pasta/potatoes/rice
No processed food, no alcohol
As close to no sugar you can get
Full fat, no low fat
Protein to keep you full
2-3 litres of water a day
10,000 steps a day (work your way up)
HIIT if you can 2-3 times a week

That sounds great pfrench well done, I bet you can't wait to see what the scales say when you get back!
Week one done here, I've lost 5.75 lbs and DH has lost 8.5 lbs. Happy with that.

Keep I came back from holiday with a half stone gain and just can't seem to do more than half a decent day at a time- hence half stone is still there!! I'm just counting the days til school's back and I can get my steps in without having to drag a whinging 4 year old behind me, and also so I can be further from the kitchen as I feel like someone is constantly eating in my house! I never managed 800 as a rule and still did OK, providing I was on top of the rest, eg steps, water, low carb. We will do it!!

The thing Is keep that if you can get a few good days under your belt, then you won't crave carbs when you come in the door. Before my first 8 weeks I really was the biggest carb addict going (I am currently relapsing like a junkie, but hey) and yet I kicked that 4pm slump and the carb inhalation went. Sounds silly but can you change your routine slightly so you don't go to the kitchen? Maybe come in from work and have a shower? Or go straight into the garden with a cuppa? Even just change out of work clothes and brush your teeth? If you have a slow cooker they can be a godsend at this time because tea will be ready, just plate up and eat. It's a habit to break just like any other, but, and j know I am definitely not practicing what I am preaching right now, but after a few good days without the carbs you really won't have the urgent cravings so much.
My advice would be to forget the calorie counting while you ease back in, and eat something fat or protein on the way home like cheese, hard boiled egg, drink some water as well and hopefully that will curb the urge to eat the carbs?

I cook loads in my slow cooker, obviously the usual casserole type things but I have also done a roast chicken, a pulled pork recipe, and loads of curry dishes.

pfrench · 25/08/2016 21:40

But, but... SW is just another thing that involves weighing and 'calorie' counting. And it costs a fiver a week or whatever. I lost weight using it last year in an attempt to keep being able to eat carbs (due to the vegan boyfriend), but it seemed to take a LOT of effort to get a stone off, and it took almost 3 months. I much prefer this.

whatsonyourplate · 25/08/2016 22:27

keepon what about bolognaise? Make it with hidden veg and lean beef, kids can have theirs with spaghetti, you can have courgetti or similar. If you've got freezer room and a big enough slow cooker you could make double and freeze some for another day.

whatsonyourplate · 25/08/2016 22:28

Sorry ignore me, just realised you suggested bolognaise yourself!

Sw won't work if you are insulin resistant because you eat too many carbs doing it- which is why some people are successful and others aren't. Not even necessarily IR but anyone with impaired glucose tolerance.
Personally after doing sw for 8 years, I only became very aware of the sheer quantity of food I was eating after doing BSD. The mantra of never being hungry is not a healthy one in my opinion, hunger is a natural precursor to healthy appetite. Regardless of free foods and syns etc, it is very easy to exceed your tdee daily on sw and still feel like you're on plan and that's why it's possible to follow it and gain/maintain.

Oblomov16 · 27/08/2016 11:38

Morning.
Back from 2 week holiday.
Ate well and drank wine most days.
Weighed myself. Oh. Oh dear.
Right. Ready to start with a vengeance.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/08/2016 15:58

Hi everyone...also back from hol but it was a centre parcs one and damage wasnt as bad as feared - 3lbs up on pre hol weight..I had a spa night and used that as an op to fast one evening, maybe that shaved off a lb. Aiming to get a little lower and lose 4lbs over the next 10 days then hopefully maintain for a month or so but part of me does not want to go back to 800. Maybe it will be better if I just say 1000 cals and be done with it! My aim for today is just no snacking this eve.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/08/2016 16:01

Oblomov snap on wine, also had more than my share of ice cream but hey its a holiday Grin luckily a near nightly tub of ben and jerrys doesnt stretch to far between 6 people (one tub was £5.50!)

Roseformeplease · 27/08/2016 16:05

Hello all.

This diet is, so far, fantastic! Have lost 8lbs in 2 weeks and feel a lot better already. Would like to lose at least another 14lbs so am keeping at it.

Roseformeplease · 27/08/2016 16:07

Sorry, posted too soon.

The support on here means a lot. Good to read everyone's story.

H3l3naGraham · 27/08/2016 18:36

Hello couch all well chez-Helena, summer I no best time for diets IMHO, but battling on. Am hovering about 2lbs short of 2 stone loss. Still. I put that down to lazy evenings in the garden with wine.... however next week will be back on track as have 2 months to lose a stone + then til Xmas to lose another 1/2. Setting tgt will help. I hope! : )

pfrench · 27/08/2016 20:54

End of third week today. Celebrated with small glass of red, 10g of 85% choc and a few pecans. Woop woo!

Still feeling pretty good. Another day with my parents today, and again they just don't eat much - I reckon my mum has eaten fewer cals than me today (a normal day for her). Wondering even more if I'm just genetically programmed to not eat much. Would explain 20 years of being overweight.

I'm finding it relatively easy still, although my food day has changed a bit. Am hungry between meals, but find myself full really easily - particularly with a meal of 350+ cals. Hope that stays the same.

No idea of weight loss because I'm on holiday still, but even tho it would be nice to stay losing weight quickly, I think it's probably a way of life for me long term, so will try not to be too hung up on it.

lookingforhope · 28/08/2016 16:57

Hello all - I have to confess to being rubbish for the last couple of weeks - had the broken arm to contend with (thankfully now much better, sling off, can use it normally apart from lifting heavy things or getting lids off jars!) and have had various meals out and celebrations to contend with.

Am going to have another go next week - going to re-read the book for some extra motivation tonight. There is a night out on Friday to contend with and one on Tuesday but if I keep making excuses about this or that social occasion I will never get better at reining in my diet. There may be the odd wine slip up but will do my best to get on top of the food situation starting tomorrow... At least I can exercise again now!

Going to read back on the thread for inspiration now!

yumyumpoppycat · 28/08/2016 18:13

Well done on your weightloss rose

H lovely to see you back on here Grin we neeeed you.

Pfrench well done and fingers crossed for weighin

Lookingforhope must be lovely to have arm back in action...summer hols are tricky roll on sep 5th! Regardless of whether or not we have school aged kids it is going to be a real back on it date I reckon.

I was mysetriously down another 1lb or so unfortunately this has made me cocky and I wont be surprised if I get a nasty surprise tomorrow.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 28/08/2016 21:35

Well Saturday was Lycra dress day! I was pleased with the results of my efforts, drank and ate too much and I'm going back on it properly tomorrow- hopefully to do another full 8 weeks of true BSD and stop dicking around. I have a stone and a bit to target so I'd like to get that off in the 8 weeks. I need a really good strict few weeks now- and totally agree that once school holidays are over things will improve greatly.
I've attached a picture of me in my dress- excuse the mess in the background! When I started this I was a size 16, so I need to remember how far I have come and also what I can achieve when I actually stick to it!
