Shiny new thread for the BSD'ers. Best thing you can do is first read the MM bsd book do you get a full grasp of what the rules are but in a nutshell:
800 calories a day
No bread/pasta/potatoes/rice
No processed food, no alcohol
As close to no sugar you can get
Full fat, no low fat
Protein to keep you full
2-3 litres of water a day
10,000 steps a day (work your way up)
HIIT if you can 2-3 times a week

Morning all, just checking in from grey and rainy Devon. Had 2 nice sunny days with lots of food and wine, now hoping for a few healthier days. Packing picnic for a day out, drink a bit more water and less alcohol, and try, hopefully, to resist the carbs/bread/ice cream!

elliejjtiny · 01/08/2016 11:14

7lb down this week! Bit of a slip up on Thursday but managed eating out on Saturday virtually carb free and within the 800 calorie limit, very pleased with myself.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 01/08/2016 13:01

bear have a nice picnic. I hope the rain holds off.
must, henby, ellie well done on your losses Flowers

My weight is still fluctuating by the same 2lbs but I noticed my dress was feeling a lot slacker around my middle today so I checked by measurements. I've lost 17.5 inches since I started which includes 6 inches from my hips and 5 inches from my waist. Hopefully that will help me to walk away from DS' popcorn which is calling me from the table Grin

Great weight losses and inch losses! It's absolutely pouring down here and has been all day yesterday and all night! I feel so bloated from all the healthy salads and water I've been consuming......think I ate my tdee twice over in crap yesterday

Not2bObvious · 02/08/2016 08:46

That's some inch loss place, brilliant! Wow ellie, half a stone gone - you should be thrilled. keep I'm the same as you, weekends just obliterate the weeks losses, although imagine if we didn't do the plan in between, we'd be gaining steadily. At least this way there are losses, slower but going the right way. Great long weekend had but not feeling like I want to weigh in just yet. I like a couple of days at 800-1100 after the weekend to shift the carb bloat (at this stage of bsd I allow some bread at weekends) Lots of walking and a decent run done over the weekend so from an exercise perspective I'm good. I thought I might have a shocking hangover yesterday but I was surprisingly ok so did a 7km walk, followed by a pub lunch but it's something. Will weigh in later to gauge damage & then proper WI tomorrow morning. Have a great 800 day all😉

Hi all. Can i come back? Lost 7lb in 4 weeks last time but then worked away at a festival for a month and couldn't stay on track. Then last week I was on holiday overseas and besides the usual holiday food and beer I broke my elbow slipping on the pavement so now can't exercise or even go out as can't drive. Not dared weigh myself yet but will do tomorrow and have healthy online shop arriving at 9.00am! Hoping to get back on track and if anyone has any tips on how to exercise with one immobile arm please share. Would walk but it is pouring down and cannot get coat over arm, plus worried about slipping!!! G'aaaargh!!!!!!!

Not2bObvious · 02/08/2016 14:51

You poor thing looking, that sounds extremely painful not to mention awkward. Of course you're welcome back! Don't be concerned about exercise, to lose weight diet is the key. Exercise is probably for the long term maintenance, focus on the cals until you're healed - then you can start walking etc

So I've have been following the diet in my own sort of way for about 3 months now. I'm no longer calorie counting, but I'm broadly sticking to the way-of-eating during the week and then being a bit less strict at the weekend, when I often have less control due to visiting people etc. Altogether I've lost about 1st4lb and do feel much better. I think I could probably lose another 7lb and see how I feel about that, but I'm about to go on holiday so am being pragmatic about that.

So I'm here because I have a question... I've been diligently weighing myself pretty much every day as per the book, and plotting weights in mfp. I've found that really useful. The thing is that until the last two weeks or so, there were always large fluctuations - particularly after the weekend, but a general large zig zag of about 2-3lb up and down (with an overall tendency to go down over time). This last week or two, the fluctuations have been much smaller - eg within less than half a pound, even after the weekend etc. Overall tendency is towards stability, rather than weight loss (but that's OK at the moment). Just wondering whether anyone else has found anything similar to this, and if it means anything?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 03/08/2016 11:11

Crystalline I have been doing this for 4 months and have found that when I hit static patches (I'm currently in the middle of my second static patch) that I'm losing inches rather than weight. The weight loss seems to stall for a few weeks (at least 2) and then starts again. The last time it happened, I changed my eating window to kickstart the weight loss.

Crystalline · 03/08/2016 11:37

Ah interesting. Well weight loss will definitely be stalling whilst I am on holiday but hope to get back on it when I get back. I have noticed recently that my waist is a bit smaller.

lookingforhope · 03/08/2016 14:58

Found the courage to weigh in today a d only gained 2.5lb in my weeks of transgressions. Amazed quite frankly. So am now 10st 9 and a half and need to be around 9 (but will be happy to reach 9 and a half). Will be looking for meals that can be made with one hand for a while, and have had to resort to the odd carton of soup with broken elbow situation Confused. Conquered the one handed spinach omelette for lunch and had Greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast. Bought ready chopped roasting vegetables for dinner with some halloumi. May be a bit over 800 but I can check later on MFP and this is a huge improvement on my holiday diet of croissants Blush

looking that's great that the gain is so small, you're doing great you one armed bandit you😁
Ahh keep, I'm struggling quite a bit too. Worried this is going the way 5:2 went for me (got sick of it frankly!) It's a very specific plan & can be quite tough. What can make it harder still is when you slip it feels catastrophic, feels like what's the point if it can't be done "right"
Honestly, the reason it works is cause it's very low cals. And you can manage the low cals once you're eating the right food. But slip some carbs in and BANG you're back wanting all the normal food we're surrounded & drowning in. Quite a tough plan to follow when out and about, esp with kids. No help I'm sure, just letting you know you're not on your own. Ok, being fat is hard, losing weight is hard - choose your hard and all that. But honestly I feel tortured by it all, I've no idea where I am. I'm slimmer, great now I can wear clothes better. But I am obsessed by food rewatching the Gilmore girls isn't helping
Anyway...sorry for the brain dump folks. Going to sleep having managing to stick to 1000 or so, that's something at least

Oh forgive me BSD ers for I have sinned....,
I'm not even trying to be honest, drinking lots, eating lots, I am drunk on carbs and wine and can literally feel half a stone on my stomach wobbling around. And I can't even stop myself, I am like a junkie on a relapse.......
Tomorrow I order my Atkins shakes, via Amazon, to be delivered for Saturday so when I get home I can redeem myself, but for now, sorry, I'm just buried in the bad stuff. Hope you're all doing better than me, I will need your support next week! I am boot camping myself back into the zone

I wonder if it's the lack of routine because it's summer or the change in the weather, because a lot of us seem to be struggling.
We had a family birthday today and I had cake and a choc ice and some dark chocolate and it took all my willpower not to have a G&T too.
I am thinking I just need to focus on damage limitation till DS goes back to school.

Not2bObvious · 04/08/2016 06:04

You're on your holidays bear, enjoy your last couple of days - don't be so hard on yourself, holidays are meant to be a break from the norm. Plenty of time to starve when you get home! Awake too flipping early, arg. Going to be a lonnnnggg day. Company over for dinner so wine tonight.

Hello ladies

I've not done very well since Sunday either - indulged in a pud at my mum's then it descended into a carb/sugar frenzy. I was also concerned about my obsession with calories on MFP - it's not very healthy for me.

I've decided to adopt some of the principles - at least 10k steps, no booze, clean unprocessed foods but I'm going to stop logging cals and eat from the Louise Parker food plan in Lean for Life. I think it will be more sustainable - 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. Going to drop off the thread but wish you all lots of luck and steady losses. Thanks so much for all the support!

Not2bObvious · 04/08/2016 11:32

Best of luck must, I'm sure you'll be very successful, was nice having you here. Maybe drop in and let us know how you're getting on, I hear you on the scary calorie obsession - my own head is melted with it all at the moment!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 04/08/2016 12:24

Good luck must. I know what you mean about getting obsessed with calories. It doesn't feel a very 'natural' way to live.

Keepon I am trying shakes next week, more to 'unremind' myself about food and big meals and get myself back into the BSD mindset. I think, although not 100% sure, that the shakes are a meal replacement and are 200 cals each? The book says have 3 shakes plus 200 cals of veg, although I am going to do 2 shakes and a 400 calories meal. I've never done meal replacement diets before, and I do love food so I think it might be quite a shock to the system but I'm only going to do it for 2 weeks to get back in the zone!
