Shiny new thread for the BSD'ers. Best thing you can do is first read the MM bsd book do you get a full grasp of what the rules are but in a nutshell:
800 calories a day
No bread/pasta/potatoes/rice
No processed food, no alcohol
As close to no sugar you can get
Full fat, no low fat
Protein to keep you full
2-3 litres of water a day
10,000 steps a day (work your way up)
HIIT if you can 2-3 times a week

keepon The weekend is not the worst for me. Mondays are. I cook a lot on weekends so we have left overs on Monday. Before I used to eat it all and the kiddies plates. Now I throw it all away . Or make the older children to have it.
not2 to get to the top end of the bmi spectrum I need to lose another 15kg. So I don't know if I should continue on the 800 calories per day a litfle longer?
I only buy the shakes for the week so I can go back to cook at any given time. But a big hurdle is that if I prepare more food (say for lunch and dinner) I gobble it all up in one go. So maybe cooking in batches and defrosting in microwave when I am ready or free to eat?
I am still trying to see how I can adapt it to this moment in my life. Another alternative would be to go and buy enough for the day?
I like dishes with simple elements . But I already found out that bacon and ham are a no for me as they are so salty that even though I am drinking loads (about 4litres perday) I will retain water .

Not2bObvious · 25/07/2016 17:12

See where you are at the end of next 3 weeks notso, the rate you're going it will be a lot less than 15kg (30lbs'ish?) left to go. Lots of folk on the blood sugar diet website have gone beyond the 8 weeks but I'd still think they may have more than you have to lose. At the very least if you manage another 3 on shakes I would think you'd need to re-introduce med style eating of foods. It's important to transition to what should be your way of eating going forth from goal. If nowt else it might be cheaper - not sure how expensive Atkins shakes are.
I'm struggling now, feeling v cross, h'angry I'd say. I'll be closer to 1000 than 800 today. I think I ate my breakfast too late. I stopped eating at 3 yesterday (was at 2100 by then, shameful) and didn't eat until 11 today. Oh well you live & learn or I'm beginning to think in my case you don't

I think you should resist keep, get 1 day without chocolate under your belt since you're doing so well. Now I just need to take my own advice and keep my snoz out of the fridge!

notso congrats on losing 7lbs!

I decided to have today as one of my treat days so I had a wrap and a cake. I'm on 777 cals and 82.1g carbs. It's a bit grey and wet here so I think I might make some mushroom soup for dinner.

Hello henby good luck with your first evening! That's usually when I want to pick but I've been doing this since April so am now more likely to pick on some nuts or some carrots/peas/chilli. hmm I feel like I may have just jinxed myself with my over confidence Blush

mustbemad71 · 25/07/2016 19:56

Keep I've just closed the kitchen too! Last week I was having the odd Cadburys highlight drink at night but I'm sure all it did was trigger my sugar cravings - gone in the bin!

Henby welcome!

elliejjtiny · 25/07/2016 22:17

Hi, I've just done day 1 of this diet. Going ok so far. Starting weight 19st 12lb so got a very long way to go.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 25/07/2016 22:47

Welcome ellie and well done on starting! We're all at different stages on here and it's so helpful to have that mix.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/07/2016 07:59

Morning all, I got through the day yesterday sugar free! Didn't calorie count though..... Today I'm doing 800, no excuses!
Re: evening picking. I can totally resist the evening munchies, unless I've had a drink. My danger zone is 4pm. Kids are grouchy, dinner is 2 hours away, bored of water and herbal tea. I find it really hard and usually if I'm being good I have my dinner at 5 with the kids! If I'm not 100% focused that's when I can do the most damage. We need an SOS line we can call when it gets like this!
Have a good day everyone. I'm selfishly delighted that the weather has broken to a comfortable and grey 20* here.

mustbemad71 · 26/07/2016 08:02

Welcome Ellie!

Bear I hear you! That is my danger zone too but I usually pour myself a glass of wine!!

Down 0.4lb from yesterday - first weight loss since Friday after naughty weekend!

Have a good day everyone.

Not2bObvious · 26/07/2016 08:08

I lost the plot last night & binged quite a bit. Weigh in this morning is the same as last Tuesday so 11.7.6 - on a positive note (I really had to reach for this!) I was 11.11.8 on return from my holiday so it's 4.2 down in 9 days. Back to it today, porridge for breakfast, chicken & Mayo for lunch, burger in a bowl for dinner. Lots of water. It's a long weekend here coming up & I have 2 nights out. My social life really screws up my bsd life, but thems the choices I make! Welcome newbies, plenty of support here. Pls do post & ask for help if you need it.

Morning, thanks for the welcomes! Great thread. I managed not to pick last night, prepped some food for today.
I don't have an activity tracker/ app so am using the calorie counts in the book... Are they accurate ?
The plan today is yogurt for brekkie, peanut butter dip and veg for brekkie and then gonna try make the beetroot falafels for tea... The best laid plans Wink

Hope everyone has a good day!

mustbemad71 · 26/07/2016 08:34

Not2 I'd be thrilled with over 4lbs in 9 days plus having a social life! Shows that this WOE can and does work. Thanks for all your tips and advice on here this is a great thread!

Not2bObvious · 26/07/2016 08:43

Thanks v much must, you've cheered me up, I needed that. Felt very hard done by this morning but I've been obese/overweight for nearly 20 years, so I have to accept it won't change overnight. Just have to keep at it, the alternative isn't worth pursuing 😉

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/07/2016 09:31

Henbythesea the calorie counts in the book are not too accurate to be honest, however, they do seem effective if you follow the plans laid out IYSWIM? In my early BSD days, I would sit at the computer, plan my menu to the mouthful, order it online and calorie count it at the same time (tesco website has cals per 100g/ nutrition info all on there) - it took me hours, but was only once a week and then meant I didn't need to think at all. Eventually I got a calorie tracker on my phone/ kindle, similar to mfp. I still find some things, usually fresh produce, to be very hit and miss in terms of cals per 100g though!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 26/07/2016 13:25

Meh I have put on 1.4lbs since yesterday. I am coming to the conclusion I can't have treat days unless I want to spend the rest of the week trying to lose what I put on. Yesterday finished at 895 but with high carbs. Today, I'm up 1.4lbs.
I know if I follow BSD religiously then I will continue to lose. But since you are only supposed to follow it for 8 weeks, I've no idea how to shift to something more sustainable. Although tbh staying at 800cals does feel sustainable - just not recommended.
I am grumpy about this today Angry Sorry!

Not2bObvious · 26/07/2016 13:51

Ahh place I'll move up in the grumpy bench, I hear you. I think it's the long game, try ignore the flux. I'm just too hungry these days, making it hard to stick to. But we shall persevere

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 26/07/2016 14:01

Waah! I just don't know how to make it work without following it religiously but, thinking a bit more rationally, I could just get up off my backside and do some more walking. Work and weather has had me tied to my desk/couch most of the last week.
