I've started the 800 calorie Michael Mosley blood sugar diet today. I'm T2 diabetic, menopausal and need a sharp shock to do something about the way I eat.

Weight has crept up post surgeries over the past few years, I have low carbed before then caved in. I'm going to post what I eat and my progress on here as an incentive to stick to this for 8 weeks. Anyone else welcome to do the same.

Breakfast half a lavash bread, smear of tomato purée, lots of mushrooms and sprinkle of grated cheese. Very filling. 189 cal

Lunch. Little gem lettuce leaves with bacon, avocado, cucumber. 234 cal

Dinner chicken breast, sour cream with fajita spices, rocket, cucumber, avocado, celery. 337 cal

Drinking loads of water, a bit hungry.

Hello all, checking in. Another pound off this morning, yay! I doubt if tomorrow will be the same as ended up in Wagamama for dinner after another fruitless trip to buy DS2 an interview suit. Suits only appear to fit skinny people. They do not fit front row forwards around the arms or legs - Grrrr.
So, haven't dared put it into MFP yet but had duck gyosas then seared tuna with a quinoa & endaname bean salad. Actually possibly not that bad.
Well done everyone on keeping it up, I am still enjoying it, honest!

officerhinrika · 17/06/2016 01:52

Oh god, 1700 calories for the day and another day out planned on Saturday. Oh well, if I don't eat from Monday to Wednesday it might even out Grin

GraceGildee · 17/06/2016 17:47

Hello all, it's so much harder sticking to this while I'm working. I need to make a boxed lunch at night as my mindees barely let me go to the toilet let alone make lunch.
Breakfast, the yogurty thing. Lunch thrown very quickly on a plate, some slices of a quorn family roast, watercress, and some cream cheese. Also picked at more quorn in the afternoon.
Dinner was chicken, watercress, cream cheese, cauliflower and a big mushroom. And a few edamame beans. I'm definitely not drinking enough water now I'm busy again. Mindees all keep having golden buttery toast for breakfast Sad

Been struggling of late so I decided to mix up my day a bit, had yoghurt and nuts for breakfast (usually skip breakfast to save cals) and had ham, cheese and cherry toms as a picky lunch. I was going to have kangaroo steak (yes, really!) For tea but dh didn't fancy it so I had a hake fillet with asparagus and a tomato and Basil butter. I'm going to have some more yoghurt and some berries for pud. Needless to say, this is way over 800, probably coming in at about 1100 but I'm rethinking my strategy for round 2. I'm going to try alternate days of 800 and around 1100 and see how that works. Have a great weekend everyone !

GraceGildee · 18/06/2016 16:25

Out for a friends 50th lunch - this is probably nearly all of my calories today but still pretty healthy. Delicious.

Can you see a photo there?

My phone is being weird with photos. Today I had a meat, cheese and salad ploughman thing with nuts and seeds. Some chicken at home and some peanut butter. Then for some reason a blob of Nutella which made me feel blood sugary and sick. Drinking lots of water now.

Just checking in, hello all!

Yesterday and today I've been finding things a bit difficult. I have been busy so that might account for some of it but I'm getting fed up with food! I can't be bothered with it and I'm not that hungry. Last night I had to force myself to have an omelette. What's going on? Anyone else noticed a lack of appetite?

I'm still going under 800 cals, every day, I must be doing it wrong. I'm getting scared of carbs and religiously checking everything on MFP. I'm doing some public speaking today and I'm so nervous I can't eat but then I worry that I'll be too lightheaded. I don't eat breakfast anyway but I'll be out from midday today (which is when I'd normally have something) so can't see how I'll have time to have something until I get home about 5pm.

GraceGildee · 19/06/2016 12:10

Philomena can you take a box with some snacks in? Nuts, seeds, cheese or anything like that? I like the dairylea cheese strips.

Yesterday I was definitely over 800 but I managed to eat things that were low carb, just too many of them. I was due a blip. I appear to have put 2lb on!

MIL brought over bags of chocolate and sweets for the kids (why??) and I've managed to resist them, may get DH to hide them.

Breakfast was Greek yogurt, flaxseed, a sprinkle of nuts, chopped apple, blueberries and a tiny bit of low sugar jam. Hope this photo works.

A boring food day for me, just yoghurt and nuts, omlette, and a chicken breast and salad. But I came in in the 800's for the first time in a while so I'm pretty pleased. This week I'm trying to cut back on coffee, hopefully replacing it with water or green tea will make me feel less stressy, and I'm also going to make more effort to post my foods on here, hopefully in an attempt to be a bit more creative with my foods to boost my motivation.

GraceGildee · 19/06/2016 19:07

Well done thenew, I find it really does help to post on here. I wish I could cut down the Pepsi max.
Dinner tonight was fantastic. Steak, a few sweet potato fries, green beans, watercress and I made sauce with mushrooms, onions and double cream.

Hey everyone

Two and a bit weeks in for me now and 7lbs off. Had a lovely surprise the other day- I took various measurements on the day I started this so I got the tape measure out on week 2 weigh in and was shocked to see 2 inches off both my waist and my hips!

I'm finding it fairly easy to stick around 800 cals but I'm usually skipping lunch (only cos I'm not very hungry). Could do with padlocking the fridge of an evening though

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 19/06/2016 20:47

Thanks Grace, I need to do a shop and get some stand by things I can take with me if I need to eat out. Sorry to hear about your blip but remember, that's all it is, you are doing brilliantly (and your food looks delicious!).

I had an omelette this evening with mushrooms and cheese and a couple of teaspoons of peanut butter with my coffee.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 19/06/2016 20:49

Hi Bean, those measurements sound great! Sounds like you're doing really well.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 19/06/2016 20:59

God, I really need to do this.
I am overweight. Actually I am undoubtedly obese but I hate the word and adipose. I was diabetic when pregnant with dc3. I am due a fasting test and have put it off as was still breastfeeding/sleep patterns are still erratic, both of which affect readings.
But I am placemarking now for motivation and inspiration. My DD could do with low carbing too.
Can I ask OP: the bread you buy online, which is freezable, what is the use by date on it on average when it arrives? thanks in advance x

GraceGildee · 19/06/2016 22:55

Kimmy I've got some arriving in the next few days so I'll have a look and let you know. I think it lasts a while though. It's big rectangular flatbread. This is obviously a strict way of dieting but I'm someone who needs guidelines to follow or I'll start making up my own rules. Logging everything on MFP and posting on here helps so much.

Well done lolbeans that's brilliant and so encouraging. Xx

I've had this slow roasting all day, aubergine, peppers, mushroom, courgette, a bit of garlic, few anchovies and balsamic. I reckon it will do 8 portions, I'm going to add passata to make a ratatouille, a few sun dried toms and olives. I'll eat it tonight with lamb steak and then freeze the rest.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 20/06/2016 17:24

That looks amazing newaverage!

I've just had my butterbean and tuna hash (with extra garlic). I had falafels with asparagus and hummus for lunch, I do love a falafel!

Oh, I love tomatoes but have been avoiding them with this diet as I thought they were high in sugar, can someone please advise me? I'd love to have some roasted veg with passata but haven't dared!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/06/2016 17:39

I have to agree, they have bumped my carb count right up today. But I'm getting really bored of meat+salad every day. I think if I'd been more careful during the rest of the day (eg not had lentils at lunch as well as this tonight) then it would probably have been better. The whole dish was 590 cals and 97g carbs according to my tracker, managed to get 5 portions out of it so that's not too bad as a quick accompanying side for meat.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 20/06/2016 17:46

I agree, maybe if I plan more carefully then I can have some every now and then. Thank you, it really does look good.

GraceGildee · 20/06/2016 17:48

Looks fantastic newaverage!

Me today, yogurty thing for breakfast. I make it the night before so the flavours mix. Lunch, half a lavash with mushroom, chicken, cauliflower, broccoli and cheese baked in oven. Some blueberries. Dinner two bacon medallions fried with halloumi, cabbage, broccoli, green beans and peas. Lots of water as it helps me feel fuller.

I have some plastic boxes in the fridge with cooked shredded chicken and cooked veg to throw into meals.
