Its weigh in day for me today, I'm not feeling too confident as this week has been the hardest so far and the one where I feel I've gone most off piste... I had a vegetarian day yesterday, but when doing my tracker last night even though my calorie count was OK, my carb count was through the roof, 80g! Presumably from all the veggies? I'm now on day 1 of week 6 and so I'm really going to try for a very strict week (except Saturday when I have a date with dh!) and see what the next 3 weeks can bring. I've resisted the temptation for a cheeky pre-weigh before i go to my group so it will be a real surprise when I stand on the scales
Nice one on the bikini cheddar, I think no matter how much weight I lose I will never wear a bikini again, my stomach has been destroyed by two giant babies!

Morning All!

A gorgeous morning here with sunshine and birds - am off to an aquarium today with the DC's who are excited, although my youngest admitted he didn't know what an aquarium was - ha ha.

Weekly weigh in this morn and am down to 10 stone and half a pound. So 11 pounds in the 4 weeks. Starting week 5 and can't believe am halfway through.

Aiming for a strict week this week with lots of exercise ina bid to make it in to the 9's which will give me a psychological boost.

Cheddar and Not - an impressive amount of exercise!
Bear good luck for later.

Have a good day all!

Obs2016 · 04/05/2016 08:32

The damage is done. Blush
Don't do what I do!! I've gained 2lbs. Over the last month, I've had about 10 days of booze and debauchery, not just a bit over the 800, but more like 3700.

And now it's hit home. Serves me right.
Action stations.
I only had 670 yesterday: youghurt and grapes, fish cake and salad, and aubergine and spicy pork mince.
I will do the same today.
I need to drink more water.
I do no exercise. Ever. Practically 100 steps, if that. That needs to change.
Am mid way re-reading the book, as you advised on last thread.

H3l3naGraham · 04/05/2016 10:02

Good for you obs a refocus helps doesn't it, nothing like our transgressions coming back to bite us on the bum, is there?

If I had stopped going off-piste 2 months back, I wouldn't be stuck now, I would have lost another 1/2stone by now. That will teach me. Hmm

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 04/05/2016 10:04

Have read the recipes in the book - not great for veggies...

Quick question if anyone can help - I made yoghurt (150g) plus an apple plus some flax seed which seemed to sort of match the rhubarb yoghurt compot thing...? Are apples good to eat? Or have I messed this up already....?

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 04/05/2016 10:09

Also, not sure if you do weigh ins on the board? Am ashamed to admit my weight but if anyone else has.......

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 04/05/2016 10:12

One more question....is there an app which counts carbs for you? Im using my fitness pal but thats only for calories (I think)

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 04/05/2016 10:16

Oh. I've investigated MFP a little more and it does give you the carbs. And apples seems to be very high - 22g carbs Sad I clearly am not understanding this diet very well....

Obs2016 · 04/05/2016 10:28

H3, I wouldn't have minded if it had BIT me on the bum. Then it would have taken a bit off.... It's the fact it's piled ONTO my bum that's the problem !! Wink

Obs2016 · 04/05/2016 10:33

Don't worry needed. I only know about carbs die to 40 years of diabetes. It is hard. Most people wouldn't have a clue. Apples are actually high carb.
Has someone linked in for you a list of the main low carbs?

And yes, I put my weight. Some like to, some don't. We accept that some of us are very tall and thus naturally weigh a lot more, whereas I am naturally a midget, so my low weight shocks some - but it shouldn't, I'd give a lot for a few more inches and thus a few more pounds!!

Itscurtainsforyou · 04/05/2016 10:56

Hello all - I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this, but 800 cal isn't much is it??

Just a few questions if that's ok:

How often do you get weighed?

How much fluid do you drink? Does this include tea/coffee (decaf)?

Thanks!

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 04/05/2016 11:24

I've found a link to a boot camp spread sheet which has a sheet of carb info - is here if anyone needs it

Am going to read the book properly I think (whilst grumpily eating some cucumber)

Im not tall either - 5'4" and weigh in at (gulp) 12st 12 - I've lost 2lb since yesterday!! Aim is to get to 11st and then re-evaluate, I think realistically I need to be around 10st but that is just such a lot of weight to lose in one go, I'm splitting my targets.

Peasandsweetcorn · 04/05/2016 11:31

Hello. End of week 3 weigh in here & I have lost one pound. It would have been more if I hadn't gone off the rails at the weekend. I'm now 10st4...a weight I actually was on day 8 but have had two lots of nights out & recovery days in the following 13 days. I will be good this week...she says knowing DH is away all weekend which means I normally survive on bread & butter, crisps & ice cream.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/05/2016 11:50

Curtains, you can weigh yourself as often as you like - I usually weigh most mornings. But don't weigh yourself multiple times in one day! Do it first thing in the morning before you've eaten or drunk anything. I try to drink 2.5 litres of water or more, but it can be difficult.

keep on I find the weekends difficult too, my only advice would be to be on plan when you can. If its something I can't avoid like a family party then I have 'allowed' myself free calories, provided its still sugar free, so for example had unlimited meat, cheese, salad from the buffet but no cake. I'm not a big drinker so it doesn't really cause me any issues but I can imagine wine pretty much decimates your calorie allowance! My other advice would be to get some foil food time (like takeaway time, you can get then in b&m really cheap) and freeze portions of meals. Easy to grab and just bung in the oven.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 04/05/2016 13:24

The best week I had for keeping on the right number of calories and carbs, was when I did a menu plan and then shopped according. I ended up eating homemade soup, fish cakes, stir fries, houmous, etc. All very quick and easy to prepare and eat!

No point looking for advice on weekends, I'm a disaster! On the 8 weeks you're not meant to drink alcohol at all - or at most the vv occasional glass of red wine. If you can do that great but I managed 4 weeks of this but then drifted back into drinking. In a nutshell for optimum results if you haven't read the book 10,000 steps a day (build up to it & it doesn't have to be all in 1 walk), 2-3 litres of water a day, under 50gr carbs, protein/no low fat, 800 calories a day for 8 weeks of 5:2 - 5@800, 2@tdee.
And if you manage that you'll be crowned queen of the thread😁

There's plenty of ideas in the book for quick meals. I like having (for example) a plate of ham, small piece of cheese, raw veg for dipping and a small pot of something to dip it in. Takes no time or effort beyond 10 minutes in a supermarket. Some of the skinny ready made soups are also OK (with a small piece of cheese), but be careful of carb levels. For the cheese I tend to buy those nets of pick and mix mini cheeses as they are a perfect portion size for this diet.

Breakfast is usually yoghurt with something or an scrambled egg (30s in microwave) plus half an avocado. Dead easy.

For other things I tend to eat a lot of the stuff I 'normally' eat but just omitting in the bread/rice/pasta/potatoes and having green stuff, or a grilled mushroom, instead if I feel the need to add to the plate.

clare8allthepies · 04/05/2016 14:31

I'm not doing too badly on the food front, it's just the wine that lets me down! Planning the shopping for the little party were having for my eldests birthday this weekend, there's not much in the way of low carb kids party food!

Well I weighed in, 1.5lb off, making a total of 1stone 1.5 lb in 5 weeks. I'm pleased with that!
