So sorry to hear that hope, I don't blame you having some SauvB, a drink can be what's needed at sucky times. Over the next 6 weeks I'm sure you'll find something new, even better. Chin up chicky 😘 (Not for 1 min making light, just want to send encouragement your way)
Pucky delighted you've started and I think you've done great. It's not an easy plan, but I promise if you stick to it, between 800-1100, for the 8 weeks, a whole lot less of you will come out the other side. This way of eating really changes cravings & behavior which is why I believe it works where other plans don't.
Congrats oola on graduating to the post 8 wk brigade, I've taken it in 4 week bouts

Well done oola - it's a good feeling. And you did so well before you even started BSD,so you know you'll be able to lose the rest too Star

hope so sorry to hear about your contract. In those circumstances I'd probably have had more wine and the baklava - you showed impressive restraint! I hope a new contract crosses your path very soon. Flowers

28DegreesIsTooHot · 01/06/2016 13:35

Hello. I'd like to do this from today til the end of July when I go on holiday.
I'd really love to lose 1.5 stones by then.
Today I had a spicy chickpea concoction with a big mushroom. I skipped breakfast so had it for lunch.
I had a whole can of chickpeas as I was so hungry. I think it worked out to about 172 cals for the chickpeas so hopefully that's ok.
Dinner will be chicken and courgette.

How much weight have people lost? I'm quite excited about doing this. I'm going to see a friend on holiday that I haven't seen in two years.
I'm determined that when she sees me, she'll be all 'wow look at you!'

That probably sounds vain but we've been friends since before kids and we were slim and I know she's lost weight recently too.

Welcome 28degrees ! There have been some great losses.

In the first 8 weeks, I lost 1 stone. My 8 weeks included 2 weeks holiday and a weekend away as well as various family events so I didn't stick to BSD religiously.

Try to stay round about 800calories and 50gm of carbs and you'll be fine Smile

Oh, and don't get disheartened if you hit a static patch halfway through! I think most of us did!

Hi all and thanks for the good wishes / commiserations on my job H3l3na, Place, Not2be and all of you! Am sat with our director today and he bought me flowers - aw, it is not their fault, it's an edict from the b**s in London head office, so I can't even have a bad attitude, haha! Am very nervous about freelancing though - I like security and haven't been out of work for years, so have some major thinking to do.

H3l3na I'm not as young as you think, my kids are 16 and 12! But still need tons of running around and cost me a fortune. DS is doing GCSEs at the moment but is a talented athlete so have to pay for training camps overseas and travel and hotels for races all over the country. And DD - well, she's a tweenage girl, there's always something she 'needs'. Hmm

Place - might have swerved the baklava last night but ate rather a lot of pitta with my mezze Blush. Back on it today after last night's slip. Have a Body Pump class booked and the added bonus of all this worry is I'm losing my appetite.

Pucky and 28degrees Welcome Grin. I am quite new myself. Lost 5lb in first week but seemed to gain two the week after (after only one slip up). But lost 1.5 inches off my waist in 2 and a half weeks so already looking better. This is quite a hard diet but in a way I've found it easier than doing it slowly as even when I cheat I'm still eating less than I normally would IYSWIM. Also since eating lower carb, although I do feel hungry due to the lack of calories it isn't that hangry tearful hunger I used to get when eating badly because I'm not experiencing blood sugar crashes. I think white carbs are the devil for me.Am closer to 900 calories each day rather than 800 - sometimes 1000, but still a lot less than I'm used to.

Having said that I will only be able to do 4 weeks as then have my three week event (the culmination of my contract bar the evaluation period, which has been cut short!) when I will be living in hotels and no doubt going to drinks and dinners. I am going to try to just stick to a Mediterranean diet so I stall rather than re-gain weight, then got another 3 weeks of being properly 'on it' before my beach holiday - at least if I've finished work I will have tons of time to exercise in between applying for jobs! At the moment fitting in exercise is hard as doing long days and lots of commuting.

I am hoping to eventually be as successful as the impressive Oola. 22lb is amazing!!!! Star

Hope you are all having a good day x

H3l3naGraham · 01/06/2016 18:52

Hello hope - you have a lot to juggle, tough call. I can only advise on what you & I do professionally... Events.... Have had years of it. In the 'good days' before the company got taken over by the devil & his evil twin, I used to have the confidence at meals out to 'play superior' ...

In those days I was slimmish (a size 14) which is what I want to be now, my 'superior' attitude (total bollox, all psychology as I worked with lots of tiny, young women) was, when offered bread, pasta or the like, was to look down my nose (politely of course) & raise an eyebrow, then order, fish, steak, salad, anything BUT what other people were stuffing their faces with.....

Very hard to explain the psychology of this on a posting/stream, but I simply convinced myself that I wasn't in their food-pool....was slim, had ostensible confidence & managed my own life. Until devil took over company, with his side-kick, but that's irrelevant now.

Yes, you go for it, show them what they are missing, hold on best you can diet wise, do Med most of the time (v healthy) swig the odd glass of red & hang on in there. Tomorrow really is another day, you matter, you count, you will get there!!

Not2bObvious · 01/06/2016 22:45

Finished the day at around 1100-1150 calls, I've fought really hard to avoid alcohol after having 3 drinks on Monday evening. When the sun shines I just feel like I deserve a glass in the sun. But I bit down on the urges, instead having fizzy water. I sound like such a lush I knowBlush I've company for dinner tomorrow so I'm going to have to be good as gold for the earlier part of the day. Eggs for brekkie, chicken for lunch and lashings & lashings of water! Eyes on the prize, no idea if I'll make 10'something by Friday but I'm giving it my best shot. Lots to do tomorrow, busyness is a bsd'ers best friend😉

APlaceOnTheCouch · 01/06/2016 23:45

Not2 I'm crossing my fingers that you'll make 10 something by Friday Grin But even if you don't, you still have your holiday to look forward to!

Elvish · 02/06/2016 08:15

Go for it Not2be the commitment of not having a glass of wine on a sunny evening will pay off I'm sure.

I'm back down to my pre-bank holiday weight, need to be good now as I've got a meal and drinks out on Saturday then a night away next Thursday before my birthday night out next Saturday. I'm going to enjoy myself but try not to go mad and pull it back on the days in between. As much as I'd love to be in the 10s soon I'll be happy to stay where I am for the next couple of weeks.

Not2bObvious · 02/06/2016 08:26

Thanks guys, I'm proud I didn't crack but there will be some drinks tonight but not too many! Away for the weekend then, it's the BH here this weekend. Did a sneaky WI this morning and I need a whoosh to get me under 11, a whoosh of 1.4 to be exact. I have a feeling I'll either be up a little tomorrow or 11.0.2 - it would be typical! But it's a marathon for me, not a sprint. Gorgeous & sunny today, hate having to go into the office but I've only limited food there so it's a safe place😁

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/06/2016 09:33

limited food there
^^ yy I find that a disadvantage about the office Grin I don't have a fridge so I always struggle with what to take in to eat and usually end up buying soup or salad at lunch.
If anyone has any great BSD suggestions for lunches that would last without being in a fridge then I'd love to hear them! TIA

H3l3naGraham · 02/06/2016 09:51

Have a lovely BH weekend not2b, your philosophy is great, so pleased you stuck with it!

I can only think of lunches which would work in a cold bag couch, that or soup in a thermos. I think a frittata might survive ok outside the fridge for a while, but depends what you have in it. Tins of tuna.....With tomatoes, a bit uninspired, sorry.

28DegreesIsTooHot · 02/06/2016 09:53

Aplace I've seen food containers with ice packs attached to them if that's any good.
Or buy some ice packs and a box to put salads in.

Day 2 for me. No breakfast again so I'm going to wait til 12 to have some salad. I've got feta, chickpeas and salad bits.

I've also started doing a 7 minute abs thing from YouTube and am walking a lot.

Not2bObvious · 02/06/2016 10:05

Good start 28, if you can manage without breakfast it does make the 800 stretch much further. I forgot my lunch so I'm having to keep my eggs that were for breakfast til then. Did buy a cappuccino on the way in though as its great for taking the edge off and the mcd's one is under 100 cals so I've saved a 100 towards tonight😁

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 02/06/2016 13:32

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a cool bag somewhere. I may have to dig it out.

I am having a craving for pizza but am valiantly ignoring it . . . although not sure how long I can hold out Shock

Not2bObvious · 02/06/2016 14:29

Why don't you take a leaf out of my book place and plan a cheat meal over the weekend (or tonight but you'll have to be good after😉) Have your pizza, the exact one you want.
I definitely think adopting this strategy over the last 2 weekends has helped me greatly. I plan & enjoy a meal I've craved, then it's done - move on, instead of eating all sorts to allay the craving and doing more damage

Hi everyone, Cornwall is still sunny! Can't believe how lucky we've been with the weather! Still almost sugar free, all my meals have been high protein, reasonable fat, no desserts/fruit/ sauces etc, plus I've given the starchy carbs a very wide birth. Today and yesterday though, I did indulge in a gorgeous lemon meringue ice cream and a few g&slimlines/ red wine have also been consumed! it's a holiday after all. I'm hoping that my one indulgence each day will be offset by extra walking and being active with the kids, and as I've not gone totally off road I'm hoping not to much damage will be done. I've bought my target jeans with me to do regular muffin-top checks, they still fit! Hope everyone is ok!

H3l3naGraham · 02/06/2016 18:09

Hi couch. - I make 'pizza' with a gram flour flat bread, ( I make a batch of these then freeze them) top it with some cheese, toms, herbs, ham/bacon/tuna whatever, chopped olives & some chilli then bang it in the oven - really hits the spot & as it's cooked can work as a packed lunch.

some other good recipes on MM's BSD site as well, many pre-cooked like stuffed peppers & some interesting buns (never tried these) which would work as an in-office meal.

H3l3naGraham · 02/06/2016 18:12

You'll be fine bear - especially with the extra exercise, sounds like you have a good focus, hope I can do the same on my hols; wish we had your weather, especially as I have already laundered & stored away my winter clothes for the summer..... No summer in Kent yet though!

H3l3naGraham · 02/06/2016 18:15

keepon - if i get the mad munchies I slowly eat 6-8 almonds or a dessert spoon of (sugar-free) peanut butter, helps me overcome stodge cravings!

Elvish · 02/06/2016 19:13

I have some cheese KOKO, one of the wrapped ones I buy for the kids as they are measured out so I can't cheat or have another chunk too easily.

Nuts are fatal for me, I bought a pack of almonds today thinking I would have a few for a very late/light breakfast. Couldn't put them down and ended up eating 100g which is about 650 cals ShockShock

I still had soup for lunch so I'm at my 800 for the day before my evening meal, and I really want a glass of wine now.

This might have to be a tdee day!
