Enjoy your hols bear, we're off to Somerset on Friday!

It's been a close call this weekend on the food front. I was on the verge of ordering takeaway pizza Saturday night but I resisted. There has been loads of wine though and although the food I've eaten has been low carb I haven't been counting the calories.

Have maintained for the last few days though despite all the booze. My 'official' weekly weigh in this morning was 10 13.4. It's the start of week 8 though I'm finishing on Thursday as we're on our holidays for the long weekend and I don't think Butlins is well known for its healthy food options Grin

Back on it after we get back, still have about another 2 stones to lose. You'll be stuck with me for ages I reckon!

Peasandsweetcorn · 30/05/2016 22:11

You lot are going to be stuck with me for ages to! Back at 10st 4 Angry Blush. The wine etc was very nice while it lasted but I'm feeling very fat & blobby again today. I need to be svelte again for Saturday when I will be wearing very unforgiving dress.
H3 - how is your boiler?

APlaceOnTheCouch · 30/05/2016 23:16

Happy holidays bear.

I was OK today - lots of salads.

But we had a movie night tonight. Gin was drunk and chocolate was eaten. My calories and carbs were still ok but the scales may not agree in the morning.

H3l3naGraham · 30/05/2016 23:20

Looks like we'll be creating a long-termers club ladies!!

Boiler has mystery fault according to plumber, managed to get central heating, water etc up & running again which was a relief, as pretty chilly here - heating in June... Ho hum...... Anyway we have to monitor it, apparently sometimes they spurt..... More like incontinence, but what do I know!

The weekend's write off is now passed, bed beckons & tomorrow 800 calories calls loudly!

Nite nite!

Elvish · 31/05/2016 07:34

Hello everyone, I'm back from my bank holiday weekend and although I got through give a few days with good food the wine kicked in on Sunday and the food was not at all on plan on Monday - not many good options at a theme park!

Anyway, weighing in this morning to asses the damage 2lb on, but that might not be the whole truth with wine last night as well....

The wine hasn't really been good for me, I've been feeling rough in the mornings and I think I can live without it - until next Saturday when I'm on a big night out Shock

And whilst I'm here, does anyone know of a good courier company? I bought a bike on eBay without double checking where it was and now I have no idea how to get it home! I really didn't expect to win it, it went for £100 less than some others I've been watching. Clearly drinking and bidding is a huge mistake!

H3l3naGraham · 31/05/2016 10:40

Hi elvish. - I am 2lbs on too after a very bad weekend, serves me right, back on focus today, 1st real gain after transgressions; normally when I am bad I stay static for about 4 days, so this will teach me a lesson. Angry with self but knew it was coming.

Bircher muesli thing with blueberries for brekkie, lunch will be portabello mushies topped with goats cheese, dinner is pork chop topped with 1/2 cooking apple, braised in some stock with veggies. Hosing down but walk planned.

I find courier companies quite challenging, but mainly if you have a specific deadline for delivery, they will usually miss it!! There is a company on the web which puts you in contact with people driving vans around the country, they will collect if in the area and deliver to you, but I can't remember the name, sorry, useless brain. Perhaps someone else out there can be of more help! Hope you get it very soon & that you love it like I love mine Smile

H3l3naGraham · 31/05/2016 10:52

Www.anyvan.com - These are the people elvish no idea if they are any good but there was a lot of stuff about them in the newspapers & web a little while back.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 31/05/2016 12:53

On the good news front- I am 1lbs down this morning.
On the not so good for my weight front, DH brought in the most amazing dark chocolate truffles. My willpower is going to be sorely tested.

Not2bObvious · 31/05/2016 13:36

Well done place! Allow yourself 1-2 truffles later and savour them, learning to have a little of what you fancy is a lesson for the future. Tdee day yesterday but today I'm on it like a car bonnet (😉) Lots of water, lots of walking and keeping busy

H3l3naGraham · 31/05/2016 14:11

Well done couch and as not2b says, savour just one or 2, we will all have to live like this in the future, onwards and downwards everyone!! Smile

lookingforhope · 31/05/2016 14:31

Helpful words, I am out for a Turkish meal tonight. Not planning on drinking and going to order grilled meat and salad (no rice) but pretty sure I'll go over, especially if friends order a mezze platter to start. Done spinning class and only had 210 calories so far but it's so hard to do this and have a social life! On plus side 1.5 inches off waist (despite 2lb gain - Shock ). Hoping friends also in diet mode so not tempted by baklava....

clare8allthepies · 31/05/2016 14:44

Have caved and had a sandwich. Made the girls their lunch, went and looked in the fridge and just couldn't face another bacon/egg/mushroom concoction or another salad. Think I might give myself a break until after my holiday then start again. I've lost 16 pounds in the seven weeks so far which I'm quite happy with.

Not2bObvious · 31/05/2016 15:06

You did right clare, that was where I fell down yesterday, if I had eaten something I wanted rather than trying not to, splurging and going off the planet - not just off the plot! There are days that need a degree of flexibility. 1 sandwich isn't the gateway to hell, sometimes it's just an off plan lunch😁

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 31/05/2016 16:19

Thanks for all your wise words re. the truffles. I had 3 just to confirm how amazing they actually were but have now packed them away. They were a gift from a venue we use for our business. DH is there again this weekend and I can't decide if I hope he gets more or not Grin

lookingforhope great news that you've lost 1.5 inches off your waist. You may find you don't want to eat much more than your 800 cals tonight but if you do then savour them!

We went for a long walk today and had a picnic lunch which was really just some cold meat for me. No idea what to make tonight. tbh I'm too hot and grumpy after a day in the sun!

H3l3naGraham · 31/05/2016 16:23

Baklava makes my teeth ache hope! Suck on an inevitable piece of lemon which comes with the meat, it'll put you off the very sweet Turkish offerings & you can still relax & have fun over the yoghurt, aubergine & hummus dips (have with carrot & celery sticks) and delish grilled meats! A falafel ball isn't going to ruin your diet either. Have a lovely evening.

Hi clare I have soup when I fancy toast mid-week, it seems to kill the desire for me & as you say, there's only so much salad & mushrooms one can eat. We have a slice of toast on Sats & Sunday's (German light rye, so better for GI) which we both look forward to, except I had some on B Hol Monday as well ....how is that all in bold........???? As not2be so rightly says, there will be times when we just have to be flexible and there isn't going to be a finger pointing at you from the skies for one sarnie; it's pointing down at me for 3 bad days over the weekend instead.....

Not2bObvious · 31/05/2016 17:14

Omg - half dead, don't know what possessed me to do a kettlebell workout in this heat (around 20 degrees here, although I was inside) I'm all a fluster! But I'm pleased I did it. Now just need to stay away from all junk for 5 more hours til bed. Steak & salad for outside picnic tea, I'm like a beetroot!

OP posts:
H3l3naGraham · 31/05/2016 18:08

Well done not2be I am well impressed, with your determination & the heat, central heating is on here in E Kent, it's wet, windy & the atmospherics are so bad the Internet has gone to hell in a handcart....

I managed a good walk today, not sure I could lift a kettlebell, never mind work out with one, I'd probably use it as a door-stop....

Not2bObvious · 31/05/2016 19:38

Considering I knocked myself in the head with it when dd distracted me, I'd be safer using it as a doorstop too H3l😁 8kg of weight bloody hurt! I don't know how much if any better they are than using weights but I'll persevere. Ended up wandering around the shops after my meal, so a few more steps clocked up. Had a bit of crusty roll with dinner, could not resist. Twas delish, but I managed to stop after a couple of small rounds. That's it now though, kitchen is firmly closed

PuckyMup · 31/05/2016 19:45

Well. I tried (!) to start today. Breakfast and Lunch all went ok, but it all fell down mid afternoon when I was starving. Have kept carbs under 35 (I set the goal at 25..) but calories are up to 1200..

Will try again tomorrow :)

H3l3naGraham · 31/05/2016 20:13

My kitchen's now shut too not2b namely because I am cleaning it after slopping the washing up water all over me & most of the floor, hmmmmm.

Discovered DH didn't think there were any calories in fat, just in carbs. Not sure where his head has been most of his long life, are men really on the same planet, I ask myself.

Am surprised you're not in casualty after clunking yourself around the head with one of those things, they look more like a lethal weapon as opposed to a keep-fit device to me.... I'll stick with my sand-bottles for now I think!

pucky - 1,200 calories is not bad to be honest, it's certainly well within diet parameters, but I reckon that aiming for just 25-35 calories a day is unrealistic, nothing like setting the bar so high...... MM's BSD site long-termers & the book says about 50g a day will do just nicely & you will lose weight on this; I reckon I eat between 50-75g 5 days a week & I've lost 2 stone. Would have lost more if I didn't persist in losing weekends to wine...Not surprised you were starving, aim for a ceiling of 50 & you won't be eating the carpet by 3PM tomorrow!

I also eat in a tight-ish time window, I aim for breakfast at 10, lunch at 2 and dinner 6.30, but it more often ends up as 7, then drink water til I go to bed. After a couple of weeks I got used to this & unless we go out, even on 'bad weekends' we still eat more or less in this window, with just 2 Med based meals (& some small treats) on Sat & Sun.

PuckyMup · 31/05/2016 21:14

50g of carbs will be so much easier - Awesome! I did think it didn't seem like much but I wasn't sure how low to go Grin

I am so fat (116.7kg ShockBlush admitting this purely to have a baseline to look back at) currently that TBH if I ate 1600 calories it would still be massively under my TDEE so I am not going to worry too much about sticking to 800 - if I can keep under 1200 or so I'll be happy :)

lookingforhope · 31/05/2016 21:59

Sigh. Had rather rubbish night. Got a call at 5 30 to say my contract has been cut short so out of work in 6 weeks. Not my fault, blanket policy on contractors. Am self employed and family breadwinner, so got OH to drop me at restaurant instead of driving and had bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with meal (though still resisted baklava). Utterly fed up Sad

Elvish · 31/05/2016 23:15

Oh no Hope, wine is required under those circs.

Thanks for the van tip H3, I've given up and the seller is going to relist it.

oolaroola · 01/06/2016 07:18

Right. I've offically finished the 8 weeks!!

I've lost 16.5 lbs!! yip yip yippeee. It''s 22 lbs in total cos I started cutting back before beginning BSD.
But am sticking with BSD for a while longer s I still have another 10-14lbs to go I reckon.

In the meantime am really chufffed! I haven't lost as much as I would like on my tummy though - that visceral fat bit is a tough cookie to reach. Keeping on keepin on and see where I get to!!

H3l3naGraham · 01/06/2016 08:03

Good luck today pucky - if you aim for 1k calories & 50g of carbs, you'll get there, on best days I do 800, but tend to float between 800-1000 during the week, 1000 + 1,200 on good weekends when I don't transgress.

Very sorry hope - I now work for myself after last contract ended up like a car-crash, I was main breadwinner too, as husband is retired, ended up reappraising life, mortgage & the rest, moved to E Kent, changed lifestyle, but am only step-mum & they are older children, so not same issues as being young mum. Hang on in there, there will be a light at the end of the tunnel.

Well done oola - another long-termer to join our growing group!
