Well done peas, no wonder you're feeling determined. 10.2 sounds very slim to me, I can't imagine seeing that but I will in 3-6 months at the rate I go😉 I'm hungry now and ended up sampling 2 3 cubes of focaccia in M&S but it was only a small amount. I'm not sure what I'll have for lunch, nothing would please me and bad things will only make me mad at myself. So Omelatte it is! Jalfrezi with a small amount of brown rice tonight, no naan. Glass of wine, 2 max. Should stay under 1200 if I'm cautious. That would be a huge improvement on most Friday's. My steps are done so I'm going to rest this afternoon as on a half day. Collecting kids, will have to ignore them munching sambos for lunch!

just a quickpop in, peas well done on your loss .. 10.2 would be great for me for my holiday ..( just 8 lbs to get there ) . So with that in mind I am also intending to go booze free this weekend ( I have a bikini to wear in 5 weeks as motivation ) but I'm not going to beat myself up if I dont..

Today so far has been good.. black coffee this morning 2 scramble eggs and 1 thin slice of smoked ham for lunch (lots of chilli sauce) . this evening I have h/m chilli con carne, with a little grated cheddar cheese and some h/m coleslaw ..

fingers crossed for Wine free!
Good luck everyone for the weekend..

Hi Ladies! Just back from seeing Undressed at the V&A..... Good grief.... How on earth did women eat, breath, have sex & go to the loo in those corsets..... My mum had a 24 inch waist, a true 1950's lady, hourglass figure & here's me looking like 2 egg-cups, on top of each other....

If any of you are in London, it's worth a trip, even just for the embroidered stockings.

Ate weird, but healthy food at noisy Aussie-Fusion restaurant, but won't be getting on scales again before Sunday 'cos I did wine. Again. Dipso-Lush.....

On BSD big-time tomorrow, but as best jogging/tregging/legging things are now baggy around my bum (charming) am not going to sweat it, am going to Smile & drink more water!!

Not2bObvious · 21/05/2016 08:57

Morning all. Closed yesterday at 1500 which was still 500 under what my Fitbit thinks I earned so I'm good with that. Having a cappuccino for breakfast as not eating until lunch, usually helps to keep me going. Going for a big walk around 10, shopping then home for brunch. Night out tonight with dh, and I'm wearing my gorgeous new jeans that fit quite nicely now - as an
old neighbour used to say "they fit ya where they hit ya"! Snug but not indecent not too indecent at least
Might treat myself to a new top to go with....hmm

Oh God, my head hurts so much. Why did I think staying out drinking with people in their 20s was a good idea?!?!

No idea how many calories I had last night and I'm not going to work it out. Yesterday is over and I just need to get through today without feeding my hangover any carbs. Don't think I'll want a drink for a while...

MarvellousCake · 21/05/2016 09:57

After a few weeks stagnation finally down 2lb this week to 9st8lb. Until the weekend kicks in, at least. I think an increase in excercise has helped.

Not2bObvious · 21/05/2016 12:39

As long as you had fun elvish that's the main thing. Loads of water today (and nurofen!) rest & recover.
Wow marv that's super! Have you much more to lose?

OP posts:
H3l3naGraham · 21/05/2016 12:55

Hello cake - 9st 8lbs, WOW, what an amazing weight to be at, I can but dream! I am also takin not2b's advice on water & Nurofen... Once we got back from the V&A & lunch yesterday, we went out for wine.....more wine..... But no socialising until the end of next week, so can keep a reign on it by becoming a house-body! Just off for walkies as the sun's peeking through the clouds at last.

yumyumpoppycat · 21/05/2016 17:42

Welcome back Laska sounds like you are focused, I am the same have needed a goal like a holiday everytime I buckle down and stick to it properly.

Well done everyone sounds like there have been lots of SVs and NSVs!!Hope your weekend plan works not2be.

Peas good luck with your weekend, I am also trying to be good as sort of at my goal as I was 139.8 today until I moved the scale hoping for even better and it went up to 140.4 This means over 30 lbs lost since joined original thread, with a few weeks off where I gained here and there. This sounds quick but I have been up and down and in the 180s a couple of times since having dc3 so in a way it has been 4 years for a 40lb loss. Lots of people noticing my weight loss this week, but I think it's actually because I have been using a moisturiser with added touch of tan in it!!

Have a great weekend all

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2016 17:58

Well today is /has been a total write off, the first time I've gone totally AWOL though, so not going to beat myself up too harshly! The harsh reality of the scales tomorrow will be ample punishment! Planning some days at 800 and booking in my exercise times for the week should help, and I'd like to be a pound off by the time we go on holiday on Friday

MarvellousCake · 21/05/2016 18:48

Thanks all. As for target weight, I'd like to see how I feel at 9st ish. But not sure if I'll get that far. I'm really enjoying the results of this process though. I'm feeling healthy and have motivation to exercise which is great.

MarvellousCake · 21/05/2016 18:52

bear I'm sure you can do it! Tomorrow is another day and planning in advance will really help.

H3l3naGraham · 21/05/2016 19:10

Good luck bear - and yumyum am sure it's your weight-loss people are noticing, not your golden glow, mind you I am sure 30lbs off is very noticeable to all who know you, and will be giving you a different type of glow, very well done!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 21/05/2016 19:15

Wow yes, 30lb off is awesome! I've been trying to post a picture although I don't think I can via the app and I'm far too lazy to plug in the laptop but it's one of those ones that circulate on Facebook occasionally, of someone holding 5lb of fat. It's immense, so imagine 6 of those. Well done yumyum

Peasandsweetcorn · 21/05/2016 19:43

Whoop, whoop...10st 1 here this morning.
Yumyum - I am very envious of you ducking below the 140 line. I have been below 10st for 5 days in the last 11 years but long to sit around 9st7 as I did in my early 20s. I can't believe how naive stupid I was then, not wearing bikinis or short skirts etc as I was too fat. I was actually slim & toned with pert boobs & no stretchmarks.
Bear - you have been impressively restrained so a blow out occasionally isn't going to do any harm, especially as you're already planning how to address it.
A family birthday today so I did indulge in some tiramasu & cake but I'm not planning on supper which should reduce the damage.

Elvish · 21/05/2016 21:37

Well I made it through the day and can now relax, kids in bed and a bottle of 0% wheat beer as a treat. Finishing the day on 706 cals but 68g of carbs.

I was saved by lovely DH making a blackened chicken stir fry for lunch which he served with a salad, I had no motivation to make anything so I may well have fallen for toast or the sandwiches DS refused to eat.

Hopefully not too much damage done for tomorrow's weigh in.

Well done on the losses!

Not2bObvious · 21/05/2016 22:52

Well done elvish, I've never been able to control the appetite with a hangover, bravo! Yum so so close to the 9's, whoop whoop. I've had my cheat meal and it was great. Out in the pub with dh, having a good night. Hoping to not have too good a night, I don't want a head of hell in the morning but if I do, I'll make sure I enjoy getting myself into that state😉 Foods all planned for tomorrow, 16:8 and on plan if not within 800. So far my behaviours a vast improvement on previous weekends

OP posts:
APlaceOnTheCouch · 21/05/2016 22:59

Well DH surprised me with a weekend away which has been great but involved 2 or 3 cocktails so I'm not sure how it will have impacted on my weight loss. Lots of outdoor activities scheduled for tomorrow. it's fair to say I am hoping the cocktail hangover doesn't surface as I am running through woods

PuckyMup · 21/05/2016 23:04

Just posting to place mark as my book arrived today.
I have read the first 1 of these threads so #2 and this one to go :) I am Type 2 diabetic and need to lose loads of weight.

Few quick Qs, sorry if they are daft :)

Is there a tracking app for android? I don't seem to be able to get MFP.
Is there anything you wish you'd known at the start to make it easier?

Elvish · 21/05/2016 23:38

Hi Pucky welcome.

I think my advice would be to read all the book and Plan out your first week. Also, as I've never done a low carb diet before I didn't really have any idea of what was high or low, so I think if I started over I would try to find a list of carb values for food.

Elvish · 21/05/2016 23:41

Posted too soon!

I have my fitness pal on android, it's in the google play shop. I'm thinking of switching to the Fitbit app though, which you can track your food in and would mean I have less apps that I'm using - so if you have a Fitbit that might be worth looking at?

Good luck!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2016 07:25

Morning everyone and welcome pucky
I agree with the carbs tip above ^ although in the early days there's so much overwhelming info that if you go over on carbs I wouldn't worry too much. I didn't start properly tracking carbs until about week 3. My other tips are to reread the book, especially if you find you're struggling or after a couple of weeks. I found it really motivating; also, if you like tea or coffee then weight out a 'milk allowance' , eg I like s.skim so I know 100ml is enough for 2 coffees and costs 50cals. That's my daily ration. I have even trained dh to uses my milk jug to make drinks for me (that took about 6 weeks!)
I haven't heard many people on here actually talking about diabetes (I think only one of the regulars is diabetic? Correct me if that's wrong) so I'm intrigued as to whether it actually does what MM suggests- please keep us informed!
I use a tracker for android, its called calorie tracker and the logo is green scales with footprints. I did pay a few pounds for it, but I find it very good, switch location to UK and its got loads of supermarket items stored, and it's easy to use. Good luck! Loads of support on this thread as well so be sure to check in

Hello all - after stalling for a week the scales have started to go down again and I've now lost 6kg in total (just short of a stone). Hooray!

Annoyingly I don't think it's made any difference in my clothes fitting though - weird isn't it?

I have type 2 diabetes but I'm not sure it's made a huge amount of difference so far. Will be interesting to see at the end of the 8 weeks.

H3l3naGraham · 22/05/2016 10:50

Welcome on board Pucky - There are a couple of posters who are type 2, one is obs, there are also lots of Type 2 on the MM BSD site, but it is awash with different streams, hundreds of posters & is somewhat challenging to get around, mind you, I use it for recipes, might come in handy as a useful resource.

I totally agree with the other posters, do read the book, cover to cover, I have marked up key pages & recipes I like & refer to it all the time.

Asides from the BSD recipes my top-tips would be:

Don't be afraid to substitute similar foods of roughly the same calories/carbs, so if you hate salmon as an example, mackerel would do instead, ditto broccoli for cauli

Drink water like it's going out of fashion

Do your steps/exercise, it does make a real difference

You will get bad days, accept them, get over them, tomorrow is always another day!

100/200 calories over your daily 800, is not going to be a catastrophe

If I get the total uncontrollable munchies I eat 5-6 almonds/small piece of cheese, for me watching the carbs seems to have a better result than obsessing over fat, fat also helps with hunger pangs.

Get lots of black rubbish sacks, you'll be taking clothes to the charity shops pretty soon!!

Good luck!!
