Morning ladies, can I join you? I have done just over a week of BSD and dropped from 11.0 to 10.9 so pretty happy with that (though I am only 5'1" so need to be a lot lighter to actually look slim, am aiming to be 9.5 one day). I have been slowly gaining weight for years since hitting 40 and this is the only thing that is working. Problem is I had a night out for work on Thursday and ended up plastered after only a few smallish glasses of wine. Had evil hangover and paranoia the next day. Am guessing either the low carb, lack of calories or my own smaller frame mean I shouldn't drink now ( i know it's a terrible waste of calories anyway) but I have a very sociable job which also involves almost a month away in hotels over the summer. I want to reach target (or thereabouts) by July 19th when we have a holiday planned. (my holiday last year was ruined by feeling fat and ashamed, living under baggy dresses and sarong) but this will require supernatural willpower when working 12 hour plus days and living away mid week. I have 3 weeks before it starts to be good and get momentum goin, then 3 weeks afterwards to repair damage. I usually press the 'sod it' button when things get too hard so hoping some of you inspirational lot can help keep me on track at least a bit. Having said that, family lunch out today. But I have chosen the restaurant (tapas) and am driving (no booze) so fingers crossed for a good day Smile. Nice to meet you all Flowers

H3l3naGraham · 22/05/2016 10:53

Ohh, forgot one important one, I try my very best to eat in an 8 hour window, i.e 16:8, breakfast about 10, lunch at 2 and dinner at 6.30-ish (more usually 7-7.30 though) and this also seems to have an effect as it gives the body a long rest between food, and has a small fasting effect.

PuckyMup · 22/05/2016 11:29

Thanks for all the tips :) Book reading shall commence today but I am not starting until the 1st of June. I know its a bit of a delay tactic but I think for me, starting at the start of the month will be a big help.
Ordering a new lunchbox for work too as what I have now is more suited to a sandwich than anything else.

I like the idea of eating around 10am, 2pm and 6pm as that will fit in well with my job. Alcohol won't be a problem as I don't drink it but I do have a significant fizzy drink habit that I think is going to be the hardest bit. I have started to try to wean onto tea - the book will probably answer this, but is lactose free milk "better" than regular milk?

I am going to take before pics next weekend, as well as a starting weight. I have an idea of the ballpark I weigh and its shameful.

Not2bObvious · 22/05/2016 12:45

Very welcome newbies! Mucky absolutely fine to have a start date in mind as long as you don't eat a load to compensate for when you start the plan. I've done a lot of damage waiting to start diets, make the next 8 days good, start drinking your water and getting some steps in. Ditch the fizzy, drinking your calories is an awful waste (and the diet stuff isn't good for you either)
I'm in good form. No hangover!!! 2500 cals yesterday which is a good 500 less than most Saturday's so my weekend plan is 66% complete & 100% successful so far😁 Of course I've still today to get through...

Well done not2b. - I was dry yesterday & shall be today and know how hard weekends are for you! I was going to stay in on tomorrow, but Lady in a Van is showing at the local Art House Cinema & am now going with my sis-out-law, which will entail wine, but as we can't exactly get up and down every 40 mins for a new bottle mid-way through the film, I think we'll be OK. Rest of week should be on plan, bought (another) new swimming cozzie yesterday from M&Co, and it fits in a size 16! Boobs are a bit big (still) but I'd rather they were held in than flopped all over the place to be honest; also got some shorts & a cotton skirt for sight-seeing on holiday, (always regret jeans/leggings in daytime heat) was filled with trepidation, but they fit without a muffin-top bulging all over the place Smileso, obs you wore your lovely new jeans & I managed shorts without crying in the changing rooms.

RESULT!!

H3l3naGraham · 22/05/2016 14:48

not2b - new jeans not obs , sorry ladies.

Not2bObvious · 22/05/2016 15:26

Hahaha, I was wondering when I was ever on the dry on a weekend! My jeans were a delight to put in last night. I still feel v chunky of thigh but that's a woman thing I believe, weight is held in the hips & thigh area. Certainly is in my case. But they must be shrinking as clothes loosening over the last 3 months. Just had a delicious lunch of chicken chasseur with cauli mash & Brocolli, 300 cals I reckon. Very tasty. Sitting down after roaring myself hoarse at the kids, shameful I know but they are destroying the playroom in a daily basis and I cracked. They'll forgive me when they get their Sunday dessert, mine is a glass of Wine

Elvish · 22/05/2016 16:02

Well after a good day yesterday I'm back to the weight I was on Friday, so I think I'm over any of the gin effect Grin

Now I just have to go easy this evening, Sunday nights are a bit of a danger zone. We usually have a family meal with plenty of Wine and I don't work on Monday so no reason to be sensible. I will have to suggest we go somewhere so I can drive I think.

Welcome Hope I had that problem early in the plan, just a few drinks and I was all over the place. I'm not drinking much (compared to pre-bsd) but my tolerance has gone back up, so I think it might be something to do with the early stages and your body getting used to the plan?

Shorts H3! Amazing!

H3l3naGraham · 22/05/2016 16:29

Well they aren't short-short's Elvish, but nor are they Empire builders...... they pass muster & DH was duly appreciative!

On the wine front, I used to drink every day, no issues downing a bottle or more..... Disgraceful. However since starting the diet I have cut back massively, unless social occasions call (& they do, frequently) we now don't drink at home unless we have guests. Can hardly believe I am typing this. However..... My once legendary (legend in own lunchtime..) alcohol tolerance has been shot to pieces, totally rubbish now, still quaffing it back like it's going to be Prohibition in the morning, but the hangovers.....Envynever mind crashing around like an amateur when I've got a few inside me. Has been steep learning curve....still not over the hill on this one, but am learning fast, perhaps less fat means there's less to absorb the toxins in alcohol..? Any medics out there....?

DH (on BSD too) is also learning fast, he's only just being forgiven for seriously major transgression mid-week when he fell asleep on the train & didn't answer his phone for 2 hours, still don't know which line he was on, or where he went (nor does he..) but Transport Police eventually found him & he got back. Very, very, late..AngrySo he can't cane it like he used to either....

Not2bObvious · 22/05/2016 17:04

Poor MrH3l, lost on the trains! I used to visit London once every 6 weeks or so for work, and even sober they scared me senseless (such a big baby) I'm sipping wine and nibbling bits but controlled enough for the day that's in it. Watching devious maids, guilty pleasures 😉

Laska5772 · 22/05/2016 18:26

Hi all, well I managed a no Wine weekend.. DH has gone back working away now so wont be temptd this evening, though to be fair he didnt drink either in solidarity ...

Am frustratuingly still at the same weight , as at beginning of week and have been so good! ( but TMI alert) .. am really 'bunged up'.. have just had a big plate of cabbage with a little chilli con carne and some beetroot .. That should sort it !!

I spent most of yestaredy raining afternoon putting away winter clothes and getting out summer ones.. lots of things from last summer went in the charity shop bag as now too big after my earlier BSD foray.. Also I had stored away some lovely summer clothes a couple of years ago from my 5:2 success days and forgot about them (so they had been saved from previous charity shop chuck outs ) Hooray !! they almost all fit again!! again.. and (those that dont quite just yet should do if I can get another 7lbs off )

H3l3naGraham · 22/05/2016 18:44

I've been doing that too laska - filled 2 big bags for charity, mostly trousers, my tops still seem to work, as only dropped 1 cup size, despite back shrinking, boobs are holding 'up'. It's so nice isn't it when something that didn't, or barely fitted now works! You'll lose that 7lbs, I had an age of being stuck (mostly own fault) then dropped 4lbs in just over a week, have shifted scales all over the bathroom, but is constant so am well happy with that!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/05/2016 19:07

Today has reminded me why I can't really afford to have a day off. After yesterday's free rein cake fest , today i have been back like it's day one all over again, rattling around the kitchen like a junkie.....I managed OK at Mil's for lunch as I just had roast meat and veg and swerved the potatoes and yorkshires, had an early tea of omlette and cheese to stave off hunger, and I ended up bagging up and freezing the rest of the cake from yesterday so I wouldn't pick. But I really really really wanted some, so was very grumpy!
I love going into the loft and rummaging for clothes. I have been on a massive clear out mission since new year, doing Marie KONDo and chucking out and selling mountains of stuff. There's not much left now in the way of clothes, but I did bring down 3 guitars today which I've happily spent all afternoon restringing and tuning up and listing on Gumtree! My current clothes mission is the 'capsule wardrobe' which I am working on so I shall be thin and 'expensive looking'!

Peasandsweetcorn · 22/05/2016 20:31

I am currently suffering from a horrible sugar headache having nibbled on some left over cake earlier and then nibbled on some more & then some more and then having to make another cake & scraping out the bowl. I do find it interesting how much I react to sugar and how this must have been going on for years but sugar was such a regular part of my diet that I didn't notice.
I, too, have been dry this weekend. Haven't we been good! Let's hope we get the scales to show the weights we want this week. It sounds as though some of you have had some good NSVs over the weekend .

Not2bObvious · 23/05/2016 06:09

Morning all. So after averaging 2000 cals a day Fri-Sun I'm up to 11.4.6 from 11.2.6. This is brilliant! The last 3 weeks have shown between 4-6.4 pound gain post weekend. And the 2 pound will very likely be gone by tomorrow's WI leaving 3 days @800 to do their magic. Or that's my theory anyway😉

OP posts:
Peasandsweetcorn · 23/05/2016 08:00

I'm also happy this morning having only gained a pound this weekend. Smile
I must have more dry weekends!
Well done, Not2b

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/05/2016 08:45

I've faced the music on the scales..... 2 on! I'm hoping it's just water retention (surely I didn't eat 7000 excess calories!?) But still.....
Started the day with hot water and lemon as the milk turned to cheese when I added it to coffee! We go on holiday on Friday so I'm going to be good until then, I think perhaps the wakeup call of what two days in my old habits can do might help me. Planned 800 cals for today and a walk round the park with ds on his scooter. I don't feel healthy or particularly motivated right now, but I'm telling myself I am.....

Not2bObvious · 23/05/2016 09:40

No bear you didn't gain 2lb, that's just bloat/retained fluid. Be gone in a day or 2. Weekends always consist of more food, more food=more waste. And if you are carbs or drank, that bloats you. Drink plenty of water and do a solid 800, tomorrow at least 1 of the 2 will be gone. Lovely morning here, walk all done. Coffee & almond milk with pb2 in, that's it til lunch. Feeling all summery and happy! Long may it last

OP posts:
lookingforhope · 23/05/2016 09:54

Hi all. Back on the 800 per day till at least Friday and aiming for a good weekend too. Finding it hard to fit in daily exercise though. How is everyone else doing on that front? With work and running round after kids it can be hard to find the time.

oolaroola · 23/05/2016 10:20

Hello all.
So I was on a raw chocolate making course yesterday and maybe indulged a bit too much! It felt really weird, all the sweetness. Even though it wasn't refined sugar ( things like dates, fruit syrup and honey instead) it was odd.
Am 1.5lbs up this morn!! Aargh!!
Just got to remember that slow and steady wins the race but am feeling v impatient.
Well done to all who survived the weekend.....

H3l3naGraham · 23/05/2016 10:24

Hello hope - no small people any more here, so time much less of an issue, go for a walk most days, and try to get up a head of steam, thought I'd joined Aqua-aerobics, but turns out the demand is so great I am just on the waiting list...... Humph.....not sure I want to join as I understand there's over 30 in the class squeezed in 1 small part of the leisure centre.

Did end up totally dry over weekend and am now nudging towards losing another 1lb, on tgt to get to 12stone (3.5lbs to go) for my hols in 3 weeks Smile still sounds enormous but have shape-shifted lots & look more 'normal' now as opposed to a Mrs Potato-Man figure....

Has anyone successfully made a cappuccino with almond milk please? Mine turn to almond custard with the coffee floating on top in a thin film of water (Envy) gross. I use almond milk in porridge which is fine, but as soon as I heat it in the microwave for coffee it thickens into a solid state... What am I doing wrong!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 23/05/2016 10:49

2lbs on here too but tbh the French martinis over the weekend were totally worth it Grin

MarvellousCake · 23/05/2016 11:22

Hi hope I do sometimes struggle with getting exercise in. But since I've got my activity tracker I've realised that normal daily activities can add up to quite a lot (in terms of steps). Doing the squats, crunches etc as recommended in the book doesn't take long a few days per week. I'm at work most of the week, and if I know I've not got much chance to move in the evening, then I try to go out for a walk at lunchtime, even for 10-20 minutes which helps.

On days when I haven't done much I've tried to go out after kids bedtime (if DH is around) for a walk or a jog. At the moment DH is away, so I am spending about half an hour in the evening with an active Wii game (Just Dance or similar), which gets a few extra 'steps' in, and raises the heart rate a bit after digesting dinner and before sitting down with a mint tea to watch tv for a bit!

clare8allthepies · 23/05/2016 11:26

Even with plenty of wine this weekend was 11 1.2 this morning so still a stone down Smile

Task for this week is to get into the 10s
