It's called Catastrophic Thinking not2b - MM was on Radio 2 this AM; apparently, it's when you have erred on the side of badness, you sort of give yourself permission to really go for it as in .....well I have been naughty, might as well REALLy be naughty..... So essentially if you have eaten a slice of cake, just be mindful, accept you have strayed & don't eat the rest of the cake......

On that subject met sis-in-law for a coffee this PM, decided to share a small piece of simple apple & cardamon cake with her, I ended up with the teaspoon, she had the fork & I ate a total of 3 teaspoons of it, boy was it sweet, nearly had me glued to the ceiling - won't worry me diet wise, as it was a tiny transgression, but had me mainlining water afterwards because of the sugar; won't make that mistake again. Major YUK.

Not2bObvious · 18/05/2016 18:00

A bit of icing won't ruin anything peas - there's still 13 days of the month left, I'm sure you can work it off by then (unless it was a truck of icing😉) I had some bread for lunch, awfully tired and suffering totm symptoms, it was quite honestly delicious but it shot my carb numbers up soo much. I took myself away from the kitchen in case it set me off on a binge, quite honestly I fell asleep for 2 hours! Just woke thirsty & completely disoriented but not too hungry so that's good. Supper is my chicken breast I managed to track down with some mushrooms. Gosh I'm zonked, early night for me. Day 3 of 4 very nearly done. Looking forward to the weekend and putting my new cheat plan in action. I pretty much have my food planned for the whole weekend, might go mfp it ahead of time to further help keep me to plan

That's interesting H313 wish I'd heard that show. Oh and well done on the new number - fantastic news!
It's so fantastic when the hard work starts to show/pay off.

My trouble is I'm sooo impatient to get it all over with and I still have 10 - 14 pounds left to go.
One thing I've learned though is that the mediteranean, low carb thing really suits me. Yes I'd love the odd piece of sourdough wholemeal toast when I'm on maintenance but I like to think that I won't go back to the old habits. I really do think that all these empty, sugary carbs rubbish are killing us all.
Modern life is really fast, with not enough time for us all to cook, grow food, enjoy food properly or look after ourselves with exercise and low stress. It's no good I tell yeh!
I'd love a bit more time in the garden etc but with a big mortgage to pay I always feel rushed....rant over...out....

H3l3naGraham · 18/05/2016 20:21

Suits me too oola - bread fits in as a treat now, high quality, German rye, or my gram flat-breads, allowing self slack at weekends, but still being careful. Life is so fast-paced isn't it ( thinks of that poem about no time to stop & stare) - all these labour-saving devices & communications technology, but no time to look at sunsets, sun on the water, raindrops on leaves.... Hark at me !

Laska5772 · 18/05/2016 21:33

Hello! How are you all doing ? Well its several weeks since ive posted here and a few more since I completed my 8 weeks..

I have been sticking to the principles of very little carbs except wine carbs of course !) I'm pleased to say that I havent put any weight back on , despite the weekend Wine and the odd slice of bread. ..

But ive not lost any more either, and I still have about 10 lbs to go for my goal .. (10st) .. Its 5 weeks to my holiday , and so I'm going to start BSD again and start posting again .. . it would be so nice to lose 7 more lbs before i go away ( if only so I can put some of them back on again !)..

So yesterday and today i managed less than 800 cals and have also started to delay eating breakfast until as near midday as possible during the week and drop to 2 meals again as it worked so well last time..

How are you all? I hope you have had as much success as I have ?

Looking forward to rejoining the craic!

Welcome back laska! Wonderful to hear that maintenance is possible, I think for bsd'ers a return to plan proper is the new bikini/swimsuit bootcamp😉 Too much Wine & 🍫 has slowed my weight loss down but hovering around 12-13 pound down from 8 weeks bsd and a shoddy attempt at 4 weeks of bsd reverse 5:2 but I'm getting my head in the zone and think I can break the stone (and another 7lb) over the next 7 weeks to my holiday. 2 meals works great, I'll be doing that over the weekend to help get the most out of what I'm allowed. You'll have to share all your tips with us, being a veteran 😉

Great to have you back Laska - 1 month to my holiday, there's a lot of us tackling some more weight loss & refocusing before we go away, have had a good day today & great to hear that you have managed maintenance, that is a good sign for all of us that the achievements can be maintained!! Smile

Not2bObvious · 19/05/2016 08:28

Morning all. Scales showing 11.3 today, down 1 from yesterday. Done my walk but no weights this week (apart from 10 mins hand weights in front of TV last night) I'm feeling v drained today, totm is still looming & its exhausting me. Felt washed out on my walk but a shower & a cuppa is bringing me back to life. I have to meet a pal for lunch so I'm thinking soup might be the best thing. I've company for dinner, and I'm not drinking. No drinking Monday through Thursday until my holidays. I'm determined!!! How's everyone feeling today? Any news?

Morning everyone. Today is cake day, I am making an epic birthday cake for ds's party on Saturday. First stage is a 12 inch square chocolate fudge cake, ready for icing tomorrow and (I have been given strict instructions on this) a volcano, which will be made of cut up mini mars bars and melted chocolate poured over the top. I can tell you now, my carbs will not be under 50g today.....although I have bought mint chewing gum to chew while baking, hopefully the strong minty taste will make the chocolate taste nasty? I'm not a great baker, mostly from lack of practice as I'm a serial dieter, but I do love making the children's birthday cakes. It was something DM always did for us as children and helping her in the kitchen forms some of my strongest childhood memories so there's definitely a 'comfort/habit' element to it for me. Must remember that a spoonful of cake mix has the same calories as a cupcake....!

H3l3naGraham · 19/05/2016 09:48

Crikey bear that lot will give you an insulin reaction! Sounds incredible, very creative - try sipping fresh lemon or lime juice diluted in water, then anything sweet will taste even sweeter, a great way to make sugar taste bad!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/05/2016 09:55

Ooh that's not a bad idea actually, I have a few lemons needing used. Thanks!

H3l3naGraham · 19/05/2016 10:32

Very diluted still works, or you'll end up with your mouth puckering like a cat's bottom.......Wink!!

clare8allthepies · 19/05/2016 12:54

Good going everyone! I was getting a bit fed up sticking around the same weight - totally my fault for too much booze. I decided to go easy on myself and not count calories as such but just concentrate on low carb foods. Unbelievably the scales finally moved and this morning I was just a smidgen away from being a stone down! Smile

Did a hiit workout this morning and am experimenting with a smoothie for lunch made from some frozen berries, total yogurt, some almond milk and some vanilla protein powder. It was really yummy just waiting to see how long it takes me to get hungry afterwards.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 19/05/2016 14:28

Well done clare that last smidgen will disappear before you know it Grin

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/05/2016 17:30

Well the cake mix got me in the end, I managed to make the first batch but the second batch beat me.....it was all very Nigella, just a small swoop round the bowl, and then a couple more . I've found the calories online and estimated, then doubled it. So, not 800 today, but remarkably well under tdee. Plus have done 15000 steps as I've done my housework! To be honest, I'm not too worried about the chocolate per se, I suppose I can write it off as my reward for finishing the 8 weeks, I'm more concerned about the aftermath and what I'll be like tomorrow. I've planned my meals already so just need to actually stick to it!

Not2bObvious · 19/05/2016 17:58

That's the one chocolate thing I can easily avoid, I can't stomach the thoughts of cake mix...now cake, that's a different story😉 I'm doing ok so far but it's early yet

Laska5772 · 19/05/2016 18:22

today I only had black coffee until lunchtime which was salad a little salsa and mayo. , and two poached eggs followed mid afternoon by 2 sqs of v dark chocolate
Dinner was chicken breast (1 and a half) cooked in butter with lemon and pepper on a bed of rocket and basil which was sauted in the chicken lemony juices .. Now I just need to not eat any more ..

Im making tomorrow's dinner this evening - Mexican mince (for lettuce wraps with avocado , salsa sour cream.. DH wil have tortillas) .. .. so I have to try not to taste too much.. I like the lemon in water thing.. will have a big glass of that ..

Peasandsweetcorn · 19/05/2016 22:24

Welcome back Laska.
Bear - that sounds like an impressive cake.
A good day here. Yogurt for breakfast; no lunch as just didn't have time; an apple mid-afternoon; a bit of bolognase sauce & some egg mayo; salad for supper.

Not2bObvious · 20/05/2016 07:43

Morning all, happy Friday! Ended up at 1400 yesterday, did have some wine I have to admit but it meant a nice relaxing/enjoyable night all round, sometimes with company a little help is needed. My will isn't in the steel category, more marshmallow! Today's WI shows a drop of .4, so I'm down 1.6 on last Friday to 11.2.6 - a stone down from the start of bsd😁 I have been here before but not for around 6 weeks.
Very happy to have hit this milestone again How's everyone else doing? Any coping plans for the weekend fellow lushettes

thenewaveragebear1983 · 20/05/2016 08:17

Morning everyone, I've had a cheeky weigh in to check the damage from yesterday and I seem to have got away with it this time! Planned a really low carb day today, although may have a glass of something tonight as our DC are at the in-laws for the night. Ds's party tomorrow, due to weather our bouncy castle has been cancelled, so now need to frantically plan some dinosaur party games! Luckily we hadn't told him about the castle so no heartbroken 3 year olds.....my strategy for the weekend is, as always, plan. Then stick to the plan. Easy huh? I work backwards from the evening, as I know I can basically eat crumbs all day, so if like tonight I am planning a steak and salad and g&t then I know how many cals I have to work with during the day. It wouldn't work every day but I know that a couple of times a week I can manage on very limited rations during the day. We are lucky boring and don't really have drop-in visitors and unplanned meals or drinks, so in that respect I can plan quite successfully. There will be party food tomorrow though, so we will see how that goes.....hope you all have a good day!

Elvish · 20/05/2016 08:48

That sounds like a good plan Bear, I might try that.

Not2be I've just weighed in at 11.2.6 as well - it's the place to be!

Decided to weigh this morning as I've had a good week but I'm going out tonight so it could all go horribly wrong. Leaving drinks for a work colleague, no food planned which is good - but also bad...

My plan is to stick to G&Ts and eat something filling before I go out, probably frittata. I'm working from home in my pjs so I'm also going to do some fitness blenders in my lunch break before I get dressed.

clare8allthepies · 20/05/2016 09:02

I've also had a cheeky weigh Not2b and the smidgen has gone so I've also lost exactly a stone now! 11st 1.4 here but as I'm such a short arse I could really do with losing at least another 2 stones.

Going to town once I've dropped the toddler at playgroup and need to go bra shopping. Will only buy a couple of cheap ones as fingers crossed I'll be needing smaller ones soon!

Not2bObvious · 20/05/2016 09:47

All good news here this morning, it is truly a happy Friday! I'm sure the party will be brill bear, 3 year olds are incapable of not having fun creating havoc😉 Wow Elvish we're weight twins! And Clare we stone off twins hehe. I'm so over seeing 11 on the scales, time to break that barrier

OP posts:
Elvish · 20/05/2016 13:21

So true Not2be considering how happy I was to see an 11 I'm now well and truly over it Wink

Peasandsweetcorn · 20/05/2016 13:34

Which other weekend lushettes are planning on being really good this weekend? I am! 10st 2 this morning so I am already at my goal for tomorrow & am now hoping for a 10st 1 weigh in tomorrow.
I am feeling thin & fabulous today and want this to continue. No breakfast but a bit of smoked mackerel mid-morning, a vat of lentil soup at lunchtime and supper is thai green curry and I'll skip the rice.
We've got a busy weekend but just with family who are used to me not drinking so I'm hoping that, if I stay "dry" all weekend, I should be able to avoid the post alcohol munchies.
Out for lunch tomorrow so I will have to choose wisely, picky tea tomorrow and I have intentionally not bought any special bread as the others aren't too fussed so I usually demolish half a loaf, roast or BBQ on Sunday.
I will have willpower!
