Soups sound yummy.

H3l3naGraham · 24/04/2016 15:44

Hi obs hope today is being kind to you!

There's also a speedy beetroot & pear with crumbled feta & walnuts, all stuff I have to hand! I shall bulk make & freeze once we've eaten some of the salmon in the freezer, prawns too, I think they breed in there!

oolaroola · 24/04/2016 17:47

Hello all, really struggling today. Just want to scoff a load of crap!
Bear it's so weird what can tip you over the edge isn't it?
I think for me, i'm just fed up of being good today and I feel like sabotaging myself. I haven't but the urge is strong.

H313 those recipes sound fab - if you get a mo could you post up the spicy kale one?

Went on a bluebell walk today with the boys, it was glorious, through the woods down to the sea. Blue sky.
Hopefully an easier day tomorrow - DH is cooking dinner so I'm lazing around and I'd really like a glass of wine too!! Aargh!!

H3l3naGraham · 24/04/2016 19:59

Walk sounds lovely oola - will post recipe tomorrow!

Elvish · 25/04/2016 07:44

Morning everyone, hope you're all focused for the week.

Can anyone recommend a nice meal for tonight please? It's our wedding anniversary and I would like to make something on plan but also a bit special. Thanks!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2016 09:22

Oooh some chicken filled with boursin cheese and wrapped in parma ham? With green veg? (You might have to cut back on the calories during today to cover it?)

I'm feeling pretty blah today, had a good weekend, resisted cake, stuck to 800 cals yesterday, drank loads of water and was generally busy and good, and today I'm up a pound! Booooo! I know its probably, or must be, just water, but its annoying especially as I have tried not to weigh this week and only stepped on the scales as a little incentive for the week ahead. Going for a walk later, and despite my plans to start doing 30 day shred, yesterday ds didn't go to sleep til 8.45 pm and I couldn:'t face it. Hopefully today....!

H3l3naGraham · 25/04/2016 09:33

Good morning Elvish

How about smoked salmon to start with, a couple of prawns & some dill & lemon juice sprinkled on top.

Then chicken cacciatore with green veggies as a side?

Or spiced salmon fillets with shallot & lemon chickpeas (adapted recipe from Olive mag), or Spanish style cod or chicken? Or there was that Gwyneth Paltrow dish of seared scallops with watercress & asparagus from the MoS the other day?

H3l3naGraham · 25/04/2016 09:47

Hi oola here's the Kale soup recipe:

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 25/04/2016 10:39

Mmm, that all sounds lovely! starving

I'm up 2lbs despite being so good yesterday, grr! Oh well. I definitely look a bit sleeker, so it's all to the good! The Shredding is working, anyway, even if the diet is variable. I didn't calorie count very well on Saturday - ate low-carb but had a huge mound of curry and dal for dinner so it was probably well over in terms of calories.

H3l3naGraham · 25/04/2016 11:00

My weekend wasn't brilliant tooextra but I seem to have managed to not put on more than the 1/2lb I lost so I am not going to dwell on transgressions, just getting back on track today. The water thing is hard isn't it, some days I am peering like a cart horse, others I seem to hold onto water like a camel, am sure you will find that you have lost it all over the next couple of days.

It's now stopped raining here so once I have applied myself to a couple of hours work I am going for a 2 mile walk, it's not far but I try to do it at a brisk pace!

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2016 11:16

Well done H a loss for the week is fantastic, small bits all add up.

I am up too extracheddar almost 4lbs when I weighed in yest but knocked a 1lb or so off this am thanks to sticking to around 900 yest. I find I lose weightmore quickly when I don't exercise but feel so much better when I do Confused I am off today so did c40 mins exercise this am (pushups, weights etc - actually mostly from this workout but I got it at a slightly lower price 22min HC ) and after school run I watched GOT with my breakfast. If I could be fairly productive with housework now it would be a v good day!

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2016 11:20

Even if we get to the end of the year and we have only maintained the weight we lost so far we will still be miles better off than if we had continued slowly gaining weight. I also feel like generally maintaining but with a few hardcore weeks here and there where we properly follow the rules will see us all lose a decent bit more.

ExConstance · 25/04/2016 12:07

I had a weekend on which it was easy to be good - visiting my 90 year old mother who eats hardly anything. Fortunately she had a few bits of salad and some eggs in stock so I didn't starve! Strangely no weigh loss this morning but it is now 5 weeks exactly and I've lost a stone. I'm really rather pleased with that and really in to the swing of things now. Some sort of veg curry with mashed cauliflower or pasta or stir fry with courgette or butternut noodles is my usual evening meal. Roasted butternut squash is also a good potato substitute. It has taken a while to get used to less food inside me and none of the comfort that eating carbs brings. I've noticed I'm far more alert in the evenings, which is good, but quite tired around 4-5 pm, presumably because of carb free lunch.

I have totally neglected exercise so far, except for the usual dog walking. I'm off to ave a look at the leisure centre this week, can't put it off any longer!

Obs2016 · 25/04/2016 12:43

My bad weekend continued: 3500 calories friday then 2000 saturday, then 2000 sunday.
My black eye is huge and I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself.
But, I am back on it today. chicken with corn and mange tout for lunch.

H3l3naGraham · 25/04/2016 12:54

Hello yumyum - you are absolutely correct, a very good thought! I am keeping onsite a new determination today, can't keep straying, this week we have 2 dos and a soul concert, asides from that can be good & from next Sat I have 6 clear days, 800 here I come!

Obs sorry to hear that you have a massive shiner, not surprised you are feeling sorry for yourself, I would be too in your shoes. Lunch sounds nice, I am having left-overs soup, mostly veggies with a little bit of chicken chopped into it.

exConstance - I struggle with exercise too, keep finding other things to do, my walk has been postponed until after lunch as DH going up to London & I have made the aforementioned soup, will be walking after that though, raincoat out, boots by the door, because it's raining again!

Not2bObvious · 25/04/2016 13:02

Didn't even bother to own up to the food I ate yesterday. I'm beginning to think weekends are just write offs and my focus would be better spent on doing 4 days at 800 plus my exercise and at the least keeping my exercise up on weekends. I didn't even bother to WI this morning, couldn't be ar*ed. I probably sound down but I'm not at all, it's just unrealistic (for me, not all) not to go overboard at the weekends. I'm a weekend lush, there I've said it😝

Thanks for the recipe H313, will give it a try soon.

You poor thing Obs I really feel for you....Hope you're week continues more positively - lunch sounds good.

I really struggled yesterday and ate too much cheese, then cooked up some seaweed crispy type things. so stayed away from the carbs. Just.
Am still .5 lb up again today, so quite pissed off. Back up to 10.4 and I'm very keen to get below 10 soon. That's a real watershed for me.

Off out with the hound again in a bit. Have done quite well with the steps in the last week but not so good on other exercise. Oh well.
Had a breast exam this morn and that had been giving me quite a bit of stress. All is fine, but it did hurt as my left had been hurting for a couple of weeks or so even without the pressing and poking. All bruising apparantly from trying an ill fitting bra for a day or two. Ouch!

Trying a really strict day today to see how it goes....wish me luck, it's hard!

H3l3naGraham · 25/04/2016 13:45

Hi Not2b - perhaps we should do a book together, the Ladies who Lush Diet.........Hmm

oola - the bra must have been agony if it's hurt you like that, how did you manage to wear it for 2 days, ouch.....

My last boob test wasn't too bad, which surprised me, however the smear nearly had me attached to the ceiling......

Not2bObvious · 25/04/2016 14:16

Love it H3l! Reckon it could be a bestseller😉

Elvish · 25/04/2016 14:29

Thanks for the suggestions ThanksI've decided on roasted veg (few spuds thrown in for DH) which I don't usually bother with and I'm going to flavour with garlic and thyme. Not sure about the protein yet, I have some salmon fillets but I'm going to look at M&S after school pick up and I might get tempted.

I have bought a bottle of sparkling Shiraz, which we always have on our anniversary as its what we did our toasts with and I've bought chocolate cheesecake as well, so I'm not really sure why I'm planning on a healthy main meal! But it's a one off so whatever.

Think I'll do chicken mentioned below later in the week. Would love any other favourite recipes people return to week in week out for some inspiration.

My lunch time fall back is tuna and bean salad.
One tin tuna
One tin mixed beans in water (rinsed)
Half a red onion
2 sticks of celery
Handful of fresh parsley
Juice of a lemon
Tablespoon of olive oil
Salt & pepper

Mixed together and served with rocket or whatever other salad you fancy. I find this gives me 3 lunches at under 200 a go and it's filling.

Elvish · 25/04/2016 14:29

I'd buy the ladies who lush, sounds perfect!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2016 14:41

I've planned some new things this week, using Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals, so I'm doing chicken skewers with peanut butter satay sauce tonight, lamb stuffed with feta, sundried tomatoes, basil and rosemary; mustard chicken with greens, and a kind of butter bean and bacon smoky hash which I might serve with poached eggs. I love cooking, and I get bored of the same things all the time, but I loathe the calorie calculations. My tracker app won't let me enter my own recipes so I have to do it all on paper and then add the meal as a new food. I'm going to freeze one portion of each this week though, so I can begin to stock up my freezer with calorie counted meals!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2016 14:42

Oh, and just done my first shred. Wowsers, I am so unfit. I wanted to cry after about 3 minutes! Just 29 more torture sessions to go!
