Fantastic result zobalina I have been wondering about you this last week or so, AMAZING, very well done! ThanksThanks

I am still static, mind you that's a minor miracle, back on in earnest next week & in time, I too will be joining you on Med style 5:2

Not2b - self control seems only to weigh in with food, seem to have learnt to push plates away when half-eaten, I find that easier than saying no to things when we are at functions, wish I could show same self-restraint with wine when we are out - can do at home, we are honestly dry 5 days a week when we aren't out gallivanting!

H3l3naGraham · 22/04/2016 09:53

Reading last night's postings I can see there is a grey-hair discussion.

Talked to my hairdresser about this yesterday, as I too, along with the weight-loss am thinking of creating a new look & binning the dye. He told me that to get a 'good grey' look I might still need to dye and that with my very, curly frizzy hair that grey is often not a good look..... I will try to find the stream if my iPad will let me.

Still on Talk App & have very limited access to anything, might revert to web one again like at beginning

Sputnik · 22/04/2016 10:37

Zobalina, that is a great result, well done. I hope you stick around on the thread, we need successful graduates to encourage the newbies and the rest of us too. Anyway, nothing to stop you posting on both I guess.

I've been wondering myself what my plan is, I did 4 weeks (at 2:5) of 800cal BSD, 2 weeks off now another 3 weeks. Not sure whether to do a full 8 weeks or maybe compromise at 6, or keep on til I reach a certain target. I've lost about 7kgs so far but still have a way to go, so even if a take a break I will come back to 800 again after some time off.

Another one looking at the grey thread, but I figure one thing at a time, and I'll tackle the weight first. Also I've pretty much always had long hair and it would be a big step for me to go short!

Got my workout in instead of prevaricating until there was no time for it. So Halo for me there. Every major muscle group has now been pounded and I have the weekend to recover, provided I can even move tomorrow morning!

mootime · 22/04/2016 11:08

Zombalina - that's amazing. Stay here! I only rally manage 5:2 anyway... But find this thread more relevant to the low carb med lifestyle.

Cheddar- great news.

H3 and others planning on going grey. A good friend of mine has just taken the plunge and looks amazing. She's gone short and very cool and it looks really striking.

I need to make a note to self not to bake cupcakes with the kids when I've hardly eaten for 2 days.

Not2bObvious · 22/04/2016 12:10

Oh that is fantastic, what a loss, well done. Imho 5:2 BSD is quite different to standard 5:2, so stay here with us! We need your good influence😉
So official day 1, 5:2 BSD and I'm not changing anything yet. I was tempted to buy wheaten loaf but said I will not! I'm going to have lunch before going visiting this afternoon and then if I want a little cake or biscuit then that's ok. Dinner is on plan and limited wine/treats tonight. I want to see 11.2 next Friday, you hear me scales you evil b'stard

Well done zombolina ! That's excellent. Please stay to inspire us!

Yesterday, I reached half a stone loss (that's been in 21 days) so I was very happy with myself. I met a friend for lunch and opted for salmon salad whilst they had burger and chips but I didn't feel deprived. I am becoming a salad connoisseur.

I was at DM's last night and DS was telling her about the new recipes we've been trying and how good my onion soup and tuna fishcakes were. I am in a little bubble of BSD achievement Grin

APlaceOnTheCouch · 22/04/2016 13:52

Sorry zombalina not zombolina Blush

oolaroola · 22/04/2016 14:16

Well done Zomb that's an amazing achievement - how does it feel?

Please stay to help motivate us, it's great to hear from someone who's got to the other side. And really fab to hear that you don't want to eat loads of carbs - there's hope for me yet!

H313 I've seen loads of great pics of women with curly, grey hair, I have curlyish/wavy hair so I think it can look fantastic. Can't help but think that your hairdresser might have a vested interest in you continuing to dye...I'm not doing the short cut route, am braving out the increasing stripe and I'm starting to really like the colour above the dyeline. I break it up with scarfs and bands etc sometimes.

Sput I really need to get my arse in gear and take the hound out on a long walk and do some pilates.....Really tired today again so it's a struggle.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/04/2016 14:50

Well done zombalina, that's very inspiring!
Please can someone help me with a very dull query about yoghurt? I'd made the switch from 0% fat to full fat and went for Greek, total was recommended but it's twice the price so went for tesco's own. Very nice. When I was in there today, I just checked the back of the regular, non Greek yoghurt and compared with 130 cals per 100g for Greek, this is just 63 per 100g. That's half!! Why is this? Is Greek twice as nice and therefore worth it, or some other nutritional reason? I'm so confused....
I've been enjoying yoghurt and stewed rhubarb or frozen berries and nuts, but it makes quite a dent in the calorie allowance, so if I can switch then I'm going to, but is Greek somehow 'better' on this plan than normal?

ExConstance · 22/04/2016 15:13

Congratulations Zombalina, that is a huge weight loss, you should feel very proud.

Yoghurt, Bear? Get yourself a Lakeland yoghurt maker and make your own. Not Easi-yo but the heated one. If you use full fat milk and add a tbsp. of milk powder it comes out nice and thick and is the same calorie value as yeo Valley or whatever starter you use. You can make a Litre of organic yoghurt for £1.10.

Sputnik · 22/04/2016 15:26

The advantage of greek yogurt is that the extra fats fill you more, there is also more protein. I have 2 meals a day and often have a breakfast style meal in place of lunch - with yogurt, fruit and nuts. That works for me, however if you're having 3 meals a day it would probably make sense to save calories and go for the normal yogurt.
On the whole full fat dairy is better, there are more vitamins and nutrition in general, also according to the BSD website there is evidence that dairy fat could actually protect your heart. But whether you choose to go the full-fat extra mile into greek yogurt is entirely up to you.

I can't get greek yogurt where I live, there are similar things but not quite, I long for a pot of Total!

Obs2016 · 22/04/2016 15:50

Well done zobalina.

Sputnik · 22/04/2016 15:58

Oh, and Not2b repeat after me: bread is a condiment, bread is a condiment...

Not2bObvious · 22/04/2016 16:00

Check the carbs on the lower cal yoghurt, my understanding was low fat yoghurt would have sugar. Good fat in Greek yog

H3l3naGraham · 22/04/2016 17:09

In rubbish signal, yes, check carbs + sugar in non Total yoghurt!!!!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/04/2016 17:57

OK, this is full fat but just not Greek, it's the onken one... It has 68 cal per 100g, fat 2.7g, carbs 3.4, protein 3.7. How does this compare with total? Its very similar to the tesco Greek full fat which is why I can't work out why it would be half the calories. If any of you wouldn't mind checking against the total brand I'd be very grateful

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/04/2016 17:59

Oh and sugar is 3.4g per 100g - this is lactose, right?

I agree keepon, I've had a bit of a disaster since I got home from work. A good dinner (fish and veg) but a G&T beforehand and 2 glasses of wine and then a huge m&ms cookie.

Totally off plan but still under 1200 cals for the day. So could be a much worse!

H3l3naGraham · 23/04/2016 07:03

Hello NewAverage - My full fat Total is as follows per 100gr : 98 Calories, 5.0g fat, of which saturates 3.6, carbohydrate 3.8, of which sugars (yes lactose) is 3.8g, protein 9.0, salt 0.01g, calcium 121mg

Hope this helps!

H3l3naGraham · 23/04/2016 07:05

Oh, Oola I have checked MN on grey hair streams, there seem to be loads, any hints on up-to-date, active ones please, anyone?

I suspect I will look like my Nana if I go grey......

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/04/2016 07:21

Thanks h3l3na - Greek yoghurt must be more 'dense' then mustn't it, due to some part of the process. I'll use the pots I bought this week of the regular and see if the extra calories are worth it for the Greek!

Obs2016 · 23/04/2016 08:34

I had a bit of a disaster yesterday. I ate 3200 calories of wine, crisps, cheese and biscuits and 1/2 a bar of dairy milk nut.
Not my best day.

H3l3naGraham · 23/04/2016 08:39

Hi NewAverage - I was on the Sirt diet before embracing BSD & they also insisted on Greek Yoghurt too, perhaps it's something to do with how it's processed?

So happy this morning, back after 3.5 days of total excess in London, tried best, but was very hard, but I haven't put on any weight, an amazing result, could almost cry with relief! Mind you up at dawn today to start prepping for dinner tonight, have massed clan of friends coming over for the weekend, I can't cook if half-cut which is a GOOD thing, but suspect might start sipping merrily after the main course gets thrown at the table, served, which will be a BAD thing. Next week calmer, only 3 things to go to, 2 formal & then there's a gig next Friday, at least it gives me some time to get back on 800 and 800- !!

H3l3naGraham · 23/04/2016 09:08

OK Obs you did bad, but today is another day, have you any idea what pushed you to it? ToM, DH, feeling low, children, weather, DP..... ?

I know why I did poorly last week, it was being out at dos, I find it ridiculously hard to resist the wine, but I do leave a % of all food I eat, I never finish my plate when out, different at home though.... On 800 calories not much to leave !!
