Cheby I also think you could prob follow the 800 until you know for sure and then follow the maintenance plan thebloodsugardiet.com/the-low-carb-plan/ and have starch veg and small amounts of whole grains like buckwheat and quinoa and just keep an eye on the weighing scales (I logged mine each week the only time I really managed to keep pregnancy weight gain down. V exciting to be trying for a baby Grin

Peasandsweetcorn · 14/04/2016 18:11

Day 2 here and I'm struggling a bit by think I should be able to get through on 800/850 cals. I'm so glad one of you posted earlier about headaches & salt...I had a headache so ate about 1/4 teaspoon marmite and it eased really quickly.
I had a horrible lunch today...courgetti with pesto & feta. Hot, it might have been nice but I had it cold at a picnic & it was vile. You live & learn! Food today was:

  • total yogurt with rhubarb
  • courgetti with pesto & feta; five prawns; a carrot
  • beef casserole and stacks of veg for tea.

cheby - I think you'd probably be fine. I know people who have had HG and they have barely eaten in the first few weeks in particular & other friends who had GD and a really restricted diet.

Well done to the rest of you who avoided temptation. And for those who haven't, as the book says, it is a "lapse" rather than a "relapse".

Not2bObvious · 14/04/2016 18:44

Lapsing away quite merrily here....
Just under 1300 but part of that was a pack of crisps (phew, I made the house safe, they're all gone now!)
I'm good all day but then found myself grazing like a sugar/carb seeking missile. No bread or biscuits at least that's something. Tomorrow will be much better I know, v busy day with work/play dates/dinner guests
Roll on Saturday/Sunday, peace & quiet

Peas I think you asked me about tomato and bean recipe. It's easy and I just make it up.
I usually fry an onion. Add a bit of garlic. Add a tin of tomatoes then some herbs or spices so either Italian herbs or chilli flakes and paprika both work well. Then I add a can of beans. My favourites are borlotti or chickpeas.

Today was good. Great to see all these tasty ideas.

Laska5772 · 14/04/2016 19:28

I'm just popping in to say Hi! I'm having a week off! Yes I am a pound or so up , but am still not having carbs as such but just not counting calories this week

I have a weekend away (wine and curry will be involved) , but then its only 9 weeks to my holiday .. I really want to lose some more by then (half a stone to a stone would be great ) , so planning on coming back Monday!

Hope you are all Keeping on Keeping on.. KoKo.. and doing well.

I finished my first 8 weeks had a great result (19lbs plus 5ins off waist) and it was really easy to keep to the plan I found ..

H3l3naGraham · 14/04/2016 19:54

Well done Laska, great result!

We have just booked 2 weeks in Italy in June, nothing like the fear of displacing all the water in the swimming pool to get me back on track diet-wise.......

So excited at the thought of a holiday somewhere like Italy, that should keep my hands off the corkscrew...... Or should I say cap, as everything seems to be screw-top these days!

Friend visiting from Singapore tomorrow night, luckily she's tiny, a fitness fiend & doesn't eat much, so no chance of a sneaky-pizza, am determined to watch the booze & am going to wear an elastic band on my wrist & ping it hard every time I want another glass.....

Not2bObvious · 14/04/2016 21:23

That's a great loss Laska, great to hear from someone out the other side of the 8 weeks. Officially my eight should be up next Wednesday (which was 4 weeks on, 1 week off, 4 weeks on) but I'm going to continue for another week. If I could stop acting the maggot I'd quite possible get to the same.
Ooh Italy H3l, was there on hols & work bc (before children) but have never made it back. Would love to though. My hols are July, 2 fab bikinis bought that I'm dying to wear with no shame as Jillian M says! Banished myself to bed as had made inroads into the chocolate too. Hmmm, chocolate & wanting to fit into a 2 piece, yeah, not the sharpest tool here 😉

Laska5772 · 14/04/2016 21:39

I have two new bikinis also not2b .. they look great with my still visable slight tummy hangover (nice) ..Where are you going?

Tummy hangover needs dealing with , but Jillian is still languishing in the dvd slot on my laptop...(she likes it in there and its nice and dark and quiet for her)

H3 Italy ! Envy (although we are going to Pelion in Greece and thats lovely too) , but I'd love to go to Italy..especilly the Almafi coast (more so since i watched The Trip).. Did go to to Sicily for a week once ..

mootime · 14/04/2016 21:53

Hey all.
I've had a truly shocking week work wise and have fallen a little off the wagon (into bottles of wine and left over Easter eggs... Hoping to get strict again tomorrow.
I'm not sure I'm ever going to manage the 800 cals daily but I'll do the best I can.

One thing I struggle with, especially when stressed like this week is snacks. If I start, I can't stop and I need to find something low carb and low cal... Is there anything other than cucumber?

Laksa, that is an amazing loss. Very inspirational.

Not2bObvious · 14/04/2016 21:54

Spain & Portugal - seriously cannot wait!!! Oh to feel the sun on my face the wine glass in my sweaty palm

OP posts:
mootime · 14/04/2016 21:55

Not to be, that's how I feel about the chocolate consumption here. House is safe now!!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/04/2016 07:54

10 stone 9.75! Hurray! I do love losing a pound and a quarter overnight.

Not2bObvious · 15/04/2016 08:26

What a nice start to the day Too
I'm back to 11.3.6, basically my week 3 weigh in weight. Done my hour walk, now to get through the day without major transgressions - busyness will be my friend today. Got to do around 4 hours in the offi, home for an hours cleaning, then school run and so on. Anyone doing anything nice?

H3l3naGraham · 15/04/2016 11:01

Hi All, have realised that my diet is going to be much longer than 8 weeks, more like 14, with DH' commitments, weekends away & friends visiting, will need to extend the time.... Especially if I want to get into a size 14 comfortably by October, never mind 'slim' enough to wear an all-in-one in Italy - it's Sicily, never been, am so excited!!!!!!

I need 2 weeks on my own, going no-where, eating on-diet, drinking nothing etc to get back properly on track, as that's not in sight for a while, compromise is going to have to rule.

Moo - carrot batons are more satisfying than cucumber!

Not2b - yes, the wine-glass is being clutched in my sticky mitt too, only in my mind's eye of course.....

2Extra - great to lose overnight isn't it, all I seem to be losing is my marbles....

Tonight is out with girlfriend from Singapore, won't be bad on food front, but have already dug out an elastic band for my wine-wrist..... You'll all hear my yelps as I ping it every 30 15 minutes, tonight...

Saturday is being with 2 of our tiny God-children and their siblings, so will be shattered come Sat night, have suggested cinema to DH as way of getting away from the need for a large drink (or4) after spending several hours with 4 small children...

Not2bObvious · 15/04/2016 13:29

I see what you mean H3l about needing to extend the time. If you think about it (someone mentioned this before) that they were doing the 56 days but I don't think it was consecutive? So 4 days a week @800 for 14 weeks works out. And tdee @ 2 days, 1 day @ whatever. That sounds quite doable doesn't it?
Going well so far...haha sez me every Friday😁

H3l3naGraham · 15/04/2016 13:42

Hi not2b yes, That works, or should do! I am looking at the maths .... I was never very good at my sums, possibly why I am stuck on 20lbs!

Oh well, onwards & downwards we all go!

oolaroola · 15/04/2016 17:05

Hello all.
Laska that's amazing, you must be really pleased!

Tooextra It's great isn't the overnight whoosh.

H313 Scicily, wow, never been to Italy, would love to...

I'm really struggling here today. I've got my period, I feel a bit snappy and stressed and am feeling weak around bread and potatos. aargh!
Have some beef brisket in the oven and am planning on trying the mashed cannellini beans. Has anyone had em? Are they nice? thought they might be a good mashed spud substitute.

H3l3naGraham · 15/04/2016 17:12

Hello oola - I am so excited I can barely contain myself....will have to as DH has instructed!

Yes I have tried the mashed cannellini beenz (more than once) I have found they need some olive oil, a bit of Greek yoghurt, salt, pepper and either herbs especially chives or some lightly fried garlic, then the 'mouth-feel' is spot on!

Hope you feel better tomorrow.

oolaroola · 15/04/2016 17:21

Oh brilliant thanks! That ssounds super delicious.

I'd better be feeling more chiurpy tomorrow, cos i'm starting to annoy even myself!

clare8allthepies · 15/04/2016 19:01

Hi everyone, had my first real wobble this morning. Had to pick up a few bits from the supermarket this morning and everyone was buying pizza and biscuits and wine, plus the bakery must have been working overdrive because the whole of morrisons smelled of yumminess. But I was strong and came home and made a brunch of turkey bacon, egg, mushrooms and tomato.

Made the foil steamed fish recipe from the book and as I was eating it I was thinking 'this is no way 370 calories' worked it out afterwards and it was only 190 or so even double checking the calories on different sites. So now I've eaten all I had planned to for the day and I've only had 381 calories Grrr! Angry

yumyumpoppycat · 15/04/2016 19:09

Clare that is a good thing Grin a bonus 180 cals for tomorrow or a day when you need some extras Grin well done on staying strong.

I haven't done much calorie counting this week but holiday weight is all off and period started yest so will see where I am tomorrow.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/04/2016 19:11

Actually Mootime I have a naughty confession for munchies - I often have sugarfree gum, feels a bit like cheating though.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/04/2016 19:11

I did the opposite - turns out full fat coconut milk is much higher in calories than I thought! I'm now on 850 cals and I wanted another cup of tea, grr.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/04/2016 19:13

DD has literally just stuffed a mini strawberry chocolate egg in my mouth. I am not that strong!

yumyumpoppycat · 15/04/2016 19:15

just reading back LOL Laska @ jillian liking it in her dark dvd case! {star] well done on losses so far. I am planning to have another strict phase too have been not so strict for last few weeks since doing the 8 weeks.

I am aiming to be ABLE to wear a bikini this summer, but in reality I prob will stick with tankinis as more practical with 3 primary school aged kids, quite like the idea of going back to bikinis when they are much older though and dp and I can go on hols and just lie on a beach!
