I Shredded! I am exhausted. I am also not really hungry but dinner is in the oven (chicken drumsticks/thighs with salad and hummus). I hope the Shred helps.

welshbubba · 13/04/2016 20:38

Heellooo....Sheepishly returning to the thread after a weeks absence. Having fallen off the wagon and into a large vat of carbs. Started as "one night off" and went downhill after that. Starting again tomorrow but I dread to think what I weigh - I'm going to have to find out aren't I?? I haven't managed to catch up on the thread yet but hoping posting will make me get back on track. Am so cross with myself - again!! I seem to manage 2 weeks, be doing really well, then go completely off plan! Hoping reading lots of success stories will keep me on track! Hope you are all ok Smile.

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 21:20

Hello welsh I think we all need to brush our teeth & think clean & lean......

There have been some major misdemeanours & huge transgressions & that's just me...

Welcome back to the world of remorse & soul- searching....

welshbubba · 13/04/2016 21:32

Feel slightly better that I am not alone...!

Peasandsweetcorn · 13/04/2016 21:47

Day one done! Salmon & stir fried veg for supper. Came in about 750cals I think. Drunk 2 litres water & had a few peppermint teas. Done very little exercise.
Is butternut squash allowed? I'm planning courgetti with prawns & avocado for lunch but not sure what to do for supper.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/04/2016 21:58

Day 15 for me, I'm now 11lb down. Still sugar free but I am going over 800 calories every day, usually 900-1000. Does everyone else manage 800? Do you manage 3 meals or do you cut one out entirely? I could probably skip breakfast some days but otherwise I think I'll need to trim portion sizes down even more! I've had only 28g carbs today in vegetables so that was a bit of an achievement for me as its the first day I've counted using the app. I've done 15000 steps today as well, so feeling knackered but also quite pleased with myself!

clare8allthepies · 13/04/2016 22:43

3 days down and I've developed a banging headache. It must be carb withdrawal, painkillers haven't touched it so I'm hoping plenty of water and a good nights sleep will help.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 22:57

Wow well done everyone Star and hi fives all round - excellent work on shred cheddar! Hope tomorrow is easier clare8 Flowers

Butternut squash is allowed but a small portion as its starchy and carby.

Haha not2be, yes a bit crap, but then sickness wore off and I ate leftover (not literally from their plates) kid food from ds's double 'playdate, will have to join H313 on the bonnet tomorrow ... 'I feel really huge of tummy, think totm soon.

Welcome back welsh....certainly not many Halo on this thread, but we are muddling along!

Cheby · 14/04/2016 00:17

Hello all. I was on the last thread, I'm just place marking really now I've found the thread again so I can go back and catch up.

We had a week off after week 4 of the diet for my DD's various birthday celebrations, which quickly turned into 10 days before we finally chucked out the last of the cake and got back on the low carb horse.

Anyway, two more weeks under my belt (so 6 in total plus the 10 days off). I'm exactly 14kg down from where I started, 1-2 jeans sizes down (depending on brand) and everyone at work has noticed I've lost weight which is lovely. 2 more weeks to go, I was hoping to hit 20kg which I don't think will be achievable now, but I'm really happy all the same. This diet definitely works for me, it's been a bit of a revelation!

Sputnik · 14/04/2016 07:10

Wow Cheby that is absolutely brilliant!

Also Newaveragebear,, that's impressive! Personally I have 2 meals a day, so that they are a decent size, I think it's best to experiment and find what suits you.

I love mezze style meals, you get variety and it feels like a lot even if it's a small portion of each thing. Plus it's great as a family meal as everyone takes what they like and you can leave out non BSD compatible bits. Yesterday's dinner was a dollop of hummus from the batch I made up which hopefully will last us through the weekend, tomato and cucumber salad, grilled peppers from the batch made 2 days ago, a tiny bit of mozzarella, and omlettle made with just eggs and mint, arabic style. Really satisfying!

Not2bObvious · 14/04/2016 07:17

Welcome back cheby, that's an excellent weight loss, well done.
the I think your weightloss (which is amazing) proves the extra 100-200 isn't a deal breaker. I call anything between 800-1100 a good day. Number of meals really is down to your own preference, I do 3 most of the time, 2 on weekends as I'm up later/pottering/keeping busy and it helps me keep to a low'ish number but higher than bsd numbers- that's my theory, last weekend was disastrous!
Down 1lb this morning, 11.4

Sorry to do this when I've only just come back to the thread but I have a question re pregnancy.

Half the reason I'm doing this diet is because I wanted to lose a lot of weight before TTC. Ended up DTD with DH last night and got a positive ovulation test this morning, so potentially could be pg, although I realise only potentially.

I really wanted to finish the 8 weeks (I have 2 weeks left), but do I need to stop just in case and up my calorie intake? Does anyone know anything about low carbing in pregnancy/early pregnancy or could point me to some resources?

I'm still obese, so I know a obstetric consultant would tell me to stay 'weight neutral' in pregnancy which effectively means losing some fat and replacing that weight with a babyGrin. I managed it last time around with general calorie counting (1800 per day) but low carbing works so well for me I'd love to be able to continue this style of eating throughout pregnancy, but only if it's safe to do so.

MarvellousCake · 14/04/2016 08:03

Successful and enjoyable night out. Skipped the bread roll and roasties. Pud was a small bit of fruit with mascarpone and a slice of tart. I ate the fruit and 'cream' and one tiny mouthful of the tart (which wasn't that nice anyway). Mostly good then. But I did have FOUR glasses of wine. Oops. Scales 1lb up this morning. Not too bad all things considered.

Not2bObvious · 14/04/2016 08:49

Hmmm...that's a tough one cheby - I remember finding out I was pregnant and had been drinking heavily the weekends just before finding out, at a wedding not total lush lol! I was very worried but found from research that anything in the first couple of weeks didn't have any bearing. Its not like you'd be starving yourself unless you were seriously trying to lose 6kg in 2 weeks. If anything maybe focussing on keeping to bsd(maybe up it to 1200?) will keep your mind off the tww. Good luck

Not2bObvious · 14/04/2016 08:52

wrt low carb in pregnancy, I shouldn't imagine not eating tonnes of bread/pasta/rice/potato could be a bad thing as long as you were eating your tdee. Good proteins/fats/calcium & vitamins from green veg could only be a good thing? But I honestly couldn't be sure

H3l3naGraham · 14/04/2016 09:48

Very small, quiet voice.... Was that me who ate 10 chips & a brown bread roll yesterday........ I suspect it was......Blush

Cheby - I have asked my friend who is on the BSD forum to contact the people behind the diet, Dr M & his team, if it's OK to do the 800 whilst in early stages of pregnancy.

I will let you know as soon as she gets back to me, hope that was ok?

Could you do the Mediterranean principles for the time being though - small good portions of complex carbs, lots of veg, protein berries & seeds, no fruit or simple carbs, or sweeties?

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 14/04/2016 10:39

What is everyone eating today? I have made my lunch and feeling very organised - I have got a tin of tuna in oil, mixed it with some Quark and this is sitting on a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber and olives. Have calculated this to be about 450 cals using MFP; going to probably have some sort of soup or potentially egg white omelet for dinner this evening.

H3l3naGraham · 14/04/2016 11:12

Good morning Littlewoolf - have had modest bowl of yoghurt, seeds & berries for breakfast, for lunch we'll be eating the Spanish Chickpea & Spinach soup from the book, dinner will be a recipe adaptation from the book, stir-fry prawns (not chicken, seem to be breeding prawns) with lime & coconut. This will come in at 800.

No straying today, I didn't eat everything that I was offered, or that was on my plate yesterday but 10 chips & a bread roll = major misdemeanour, have given self a smack!

NewAge I eat in the same pattern as not2B - mainly 3 meals a day, with 2 at weekends, 900-1,000 will still lose you weight if it's the correct foodstuffs. I am closer to 50g of carbs on days when I am playing strictly by the rules (5 out of 7 normally)

How are you today clare/pies? Head any better?

Well done Not2B on getting that 1lb back off, my turn to be good now, no more self-sabotaging this week....

thenewaveragebear1983 · 14/04/2016 12:31

Thanks everyone, i might try having just 2 meals over the weekend and making them a bit bigger- its strange because people keep asking if I'm missing sugar, which I'm not .....but I'm REALLY missing feeling full of pasta! I described it yesterday as a very light, clean feeling, but that sometimes its quite comforting to feel that 'oooof' feeling after a big dinner, and I kind of miss that. little woof today I'm having prawn salad for lunch, with a bit of mayo, and for dinner I'm having gammon and egg with portobello mushroom.

clare8allthepies · 14/04/2016 12:49

Feeling much better thanks, just after I posted last night I suddenly remembered something about low carb diets and headaches being due to lack of salt. I had a quick search which showed lots of sources saying it so had a cup of vegetable bouillon which was really yummy. By the time I went to bed about half an hour later I already felt much better.

So far I've been just having lunch and dinner, but was really hungry this morning so had a mushroom omelette at about half 10. Think I will try and just have a snack mid afternoon to see me through though rather than a third meal.

Found out yesterday that our house isn't going to be ready for a few weeks later than we thought so our estimated completion date is now the 6th of June. Whilst annoying it does mean that I won't have all the upheaval of moving in the middle of the 8 weeks so no excuses for a few days of living on takeaways! Grin

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 14/04/2016 13:20

Don't beat yourself up about the chips on a roll though H3l - on Tuesday, after a stressed day at work, I helped myself to not one... not two.... but THREE creme egg brownies! I wrote the entire day off for that reason and re-started yesterday! Creme eggs are my biggest weakness; I have to freeze them in order to withstand the temptation.
Stir fry prawns with lime and coconut sounds delicious! I might peruse the book later and see what jumps out at me

H3l3naGraham · 14/04/2016 13:42

OMG littlewoof I am impressed...... Cadbury's creme eggs have me running....away, never could eat them, but 3 bits of brownie with the eggs cooked in, doesn't that get you some sort of award... For bravery!!!Confused

I feel better now, thank you!!! We are obviously both being good today, despite the lovely weather I am not having any wine nor sitting in my garden, nor eating anything bad!

Grin

Need to go bra shopping, have realised that the amble, matronly bosoms are shrinking, not necessarily a bad thing, but baggy bras are deffo a bad thing; new upholstery required!!

H3l3naGraham · 14/04/2016 15:27

Ample, not amble, wretched predictive text......!

Elvish · 14/04/2016 16:36

Just checking in and place marking, back later when I can catch up Smile

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 14/04/2016 16:53

Cheby, I think you could carry on with 800 calories until you know if you are actually pregnant. In the early days of pregnancy the baby needs very very little from you in terms of calories. I really wouldn't worry about dieting during the 2ww. Once you do know you're pregnant (FX this is the month!) if you still want to keep going with something, how about traditional low-carb? You could eat your TDEE and probably still lose fat. There are posters on the Bootcamp threads who have low-carbed successfully through pregnancy and many more who intended to and mainlined chocolate instead, like me.
