850 is not bad at all cheddar and coconut milk is prob good fats! What about a lovely cup of peppermint tea this eve ... Hmm

clare8allthepies · 15/04/2016 19:58

I suppose it would have been worse if it had been double the calories rather than half. 850 isn't bad at all cheddar, in the book he says not to worry about the odd day over.

I have been under the cals everyday so far but am very conscious that I haven't been eating enough fat, I think I will make more of an effort to eat more.

Trying to work out what else I can eat to use up some of the leftover 420 cals without having too many carbs Grin

Peasandsweetcorn · 15/04/2016 20:10

It is so good reading all of your posts & finding out how well you are all doing.
Day three here & it hasn't been too bad. I'm not sure if this is due to headache lifting or just because I was in the office so busy & away from temptation. The supermarket delivery has just arrived and DS was like Confused as about 80% of it is protein & veg. We'll be eating a lot of the BSD book recipes over the next few weeks.
I had a blood test on Tues & my non-fasting blood sugar was 4.5 & wasn't commented on so, to my relief, I don't think I'm pre-diabetic. Is that right? My cholesterol is a bit high (both the good & the bad) so I'm not sure if this is the best diet to be on. The GP conveniently told me to return in two months for another test so it will be interesting to compare the results.
Food today was:

  • total yogurt with rhubarb
  • chicken pieces in a spice rub with salad. My mouth felt as if it were on fire for the next couple of hours which helped with any hunger issues!
  • supper is homemade lentil soup.
I think I'll be below 800 with that so I may stir a dollop of yogurt into my soup. Or have a very small amount of grated cheese on top.
yumyumpoppycat · 15/04/2016 20:16

You don't have to eat 800 if feeling full, chances are you will go over another day or may have mis weighed something although I was prob under 800 cals about once so can't talk

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 15/04/2016 21:41

Shredded again! This better work, it's killing me!

I am encouraging myself by buying bikinis online and, now that I've run out of clothes money until payday, obsessing about holiday clothes.

Not2bObvious · 16/04/2016 07:30

Ok, I need to not get all convinced I'm doing well because I am a degenerate. I didn't drink too much last night, well how could I? It might have got in the way of my...............STUFFING MY FACE!
Nigh on 2500 cals, what the frikking chicken???? Well I think we can call that my day off, 3 days of bsd in 1 day. It started with a chip, never knew it would come to this (sing along with me now😉)

Just thinking of something you said you are yesterday Clare? Turkey bacon, I remember it vividly from WW, expensive compared to normal bacon and inedible if cooked a millisecond over. If you like it, by all means eat it, but if you're eating it cause of previous LF diet advice and like a proper bacon rasher then go for the bacon!
Of course you could just like it & my blah blah is too silly. It came to mind as someone mentioned it on another weightloss thread & I have vivid memories of going from shop to shop trying to find them! For the sake of 20 cals. Ha!

Morning all. End of week one (with big meal in the middle of it) and 3lb down altogether. Not too bad. I've stuck to it fairly well and feel good.

Apologies in advance for way TMI but I'm not producing much in the way of number 2s. Is this normal? (I'm not convinced I was 'normal' before either so don't have much of a baseline).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/04/2016 08:41

Hi everyone, its day...erm.....19 I think sugar free. Yesterday (well actually, the last few days) i've been hungry and picking. I've managed to stay sugar free (just) but I've gone way over the calories. Started today with some egg and mushroom 'cups' that I made yesterday, and we're now off to the dino museum in oxford for the day so I'm hoping for a lot of steps today. I've decided to just go with the flow today, with regards to food. I'm going to try my best to keep sugar free, but I feel like I need a bit of a relaxed day, especially as we'll be eating while we're out and I don't know where that will be. Then from tomorrow, I'm going to really meal plan my ass off and get back down to the crucial 800 (ish) . have a great day everyone!

clare8allthepies · 16/04/2016 09:00

You're right, not2b, I did choose it over regular bacon because of the calorie count. I'm struggling to get my head around this diet a bit. In the past I've done WW which is basically calorie counting as you know and low carb - eat what you want as long as it's low carb not caring about the fat. I find myself worrying that if I eat too much fat then I'll end up over the 800 cals.

Having said that, thanks to that wrong calories on the book recipe I was miles under yesterday I'm planning on having the same for brunch today but will make sure that I fry my egg in oil and cook my mushrooms in some butter.

Not2bObvious · 16/04/2016 10:54

Breaking the myth that fat is the enemy can take time but persevere. This plan works much better with a decent amount of fat
Yy to the lack of...ahem...movements. Water 2-3 litres and psyllium husk tablets on a regular basis work for me but remember too you're not eating as much so you don't have as much waste

Aha yes I am trying to drink lots. Maybe it's just the way it is. I don't feel bad for it.

Obs2016 · 16/04/2016 14:01

Just popping in.
Also laughing at Gillian in the dark. Ha ha.

I'm not losing weight. I'm maintaining. Like H3 was. But I have had quite a few meals out, wine and Easter eggs in the last few weeks, (although I have been largely sticking to things in between - lots of salads, lots of no carb meals) so this all makes sense.

I wanted to lose more. I said a few weeks ago that I was going to be really strict, but I haven't been. Oh dear.

because I have my best friends wedding in 3 weeks today so that's not good, but I still have 3 weeks left I guess.

so I hope I have the drive and commitment and self-control to try and be strict the next 3 weeks.

I started this beginning of Jan, so been doing it (not religiously) for 14 weeks or so.

But I will continue. Until I get this last stone lost. I guess the last bit of weight is the hardest to lose isn't it?

Obs2016 · 16/04/2016 14:03

Yes. I've been drinking lots.

Of Wine!!! Wine

Not helpful. Sorry. Must stop. Drink water Obs, not wine. Water, not wine. Chant chant must be good ...

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2016 14:43

Maintaining is important too Obs and as you haven't been strict recently hopefully that means if you get your head down for the next 3 weeks you could shift a decent few lbs?

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2016 14:45

go teetotal until the wedding to detox and the plus is you will hardly have to drink at all to get merry at the wedding and you can save lots of money!

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 16/04/2016 16:57

I have totally buggered up today. I had lost another lb this morning too! Bad start - made bread in the bread maker for the kids and DH, and it came out unrisen and weird. So I tasted some to see if it was fit for the kids to eat...and then I had some more...and then I did the food shopping and just got too hungry and scarfed a packet of Mini Cheddars. And a chocolate cookie (the massive ones). And then I thought fuck it and had hm pizza for lunch and some cola bottle sweeties. Blush

This is what's wrong with my old diet! I eat like an utter pig! I am useless at eating a normal balanced daily diet (eg 1800 cals).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/04/2016 18:28

Well my plan to relax for today didn't exactly happen, although I haven't counted calories I haven't gone way overboard and haven't had loads of sugar which I feared I might! Had tuna and cheese salad for lunch, and dh and ds had a cake but nothing on offer was tempting enough for me to break my sugar free mission (very unlike me!) I dipped a finger in some choc icing and it wasn't actually that nice so didn't bother. So tonight I've decided to cook a really nice but sugar free meal, and then go back to counting tomorrow as planned. We're having scallops cooked in cream with garlic, chilli and lime, and steak with a brocolli and cheese bake on the side, plus I've got some raspberries and some full fat Greek yoghurt (I know that's technically sugar, but MM says its OK!) - feeling positive now for the week ahead, and I'm so glad I didn't spoil it with a piece of not very nice cake!

poisonedbypen · 16/04/2016 21:46

Can I join you? Day 6 for me today. About 2.5 stone to lose. Dreadful headache the first 3 days. Not hungry though. Even when I had the foil steamed fish with the wrong calorie count! Not been quite so good this weekend but reckon still around the 1000 calorie mark. Was 4 lbs down on the morning of day 5.

H3l3naGraham · 16/04/2016 22:31

Well done pen that's a great start! My Friday + Sat have been shabby as expected, but have drunk lots of water as a result...... ho hum......

Peasandsweetcorn · 16/04/2016 22:33

Day 4 here &, like average bear, I didn't go too crazy despite fearing I might. My only slip was eating 2/3 of a fishfinger. Oh, and a couple of flapjack crumbs. My headache has lifted which is fab although I felt really woolly headed whilst gardening so came in & had a courgette & pumpkin seed muffin. I probably came in at about 1000 calories.
Has anyone else made the muffins? The recipe is in the BSD book. The taste is nice but the texture is dreadful & I'm not sure of that is just due to the coconut flour or if they're undercooked...despite having been cooked for 30mins when the book suggested 10-15!

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2016 22:53

Well done Bear, peas and poison!

I made the cheese muffins - I thought they were ok but they were not a success in terms of anyone else eating them, I used fewer eggs than suggested not sure if that made them better or worse!

I had a similar to you today cheddar. At least I reined it in this eve. Maybe 8 weeks of 800 was enough for me and it might be time for me to 5:2 BSD style I think.

H3 well done on water, stick with your plan and all will be well, better it takes a few weeks longer but you keep it up and have had some fun weekends along the way.

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2016 23:20

Have just calculated my tdee to know how much to eat on the 5 days when 5:2 ing (800 cals on 2 days) and based on info bigchoc put on the other thread my tdee is 15% lower than the estimate due to having lost over 20lbs. This means my tdee is under 1400 cals. Wow that's low, no wonder it's easy to put on weight.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/04/2016 07:23

Wow poppycat that is quite low isn't it? I'm always wary of calculating mine, according to my calorie tracking app my tdee is about 2100 but I'm unsure how to define my activity level. I can imagine this Is an issue for a few people and the gov's recommended 2000 a day for Women doesn't apply for many. What was the 'formula' that you used to calculate it?
