Quinoa seems to be a grey area but you could make a batch and serve a tablespoon with your meal and save some for another day. I find its a bit calorific for the level of fullness it gives though.

oolaroola · 13/04/2016 09:46

Wow that's really impressive Not walking that before the day even begins!

H313 I'm expecting some frustration in later weeks wrt stasis. It's a bit of a psychological battle isn't it?

Am off to boston tea party for lunch today so am planning to choose the superfood salad option, maybe with chicken. Hope that's going to be okay...a light dinner this eve just in case. Eating out can really throw me off I think...

Have a good day everyone.

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 13/04/2016 09:46

I am fighting temptation at the moment. I really want to eat toast but this is my downfall.
I am not eating til 12. I know if I can win the morning fight, I can do better for the rest of the day.
I've got plenty to get on with so I'm cracking on.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 13/04/2016 10:02

Morning people!

Don't do it, WoodenSpoon! It's only for 8 weeks. You can make it to 12!

I am back on the wagon as of today. I put on 2lbs due to my bad weekend, grr. I will Shred when I get home - I need to exercise for this to work, I think.

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 10:25

Don't start on toast woodenspoon, it's moreish + will cause you grief if you do...

I think what's happening with my weight is that taking into account the off-piste moments and the subsequent rectifying I am basically eating at weight maintenance levels. Hmmm.... not out so much for the next 10 days not2b, so yes, it will b interesting to see how I fare with more on-tgt days than frantic reparations!!!

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 13/04/2016 11:03

Thank you for the welcome! Not2b - not preachy at all! I don't have a great deal to lose, if I lost a stone that would get me down to my perfect weight. I am tall'ish at 5' 7" so I manage to hide my weight fairly well.
I have done the 5:2, and 4:3 before for a few weeks at a time and that is mainly what got me down from my starting weight of 11 stone 10lb last year; I find fasting during the day quite easy and don't tend to get hungry until around 6pm'ish unless it is TOTM and then I will eat for England. I am tending to ignore breakfast as eating in the morning makes me queasy, then either fast until dinner, or have a salad and fruit for lunch if I am hungry. I have read the book, and I am not planning on doing the BSD for the full 8 weeks, probably more like 4 weeks. My DH is pre-diabetic and so I am hoping that doing this will get him to join me, change our eating habits of carb and sugar loading, and lead on to going low carb / sugar free at the end of the 4 weeks!

Sputnik · 13/04/2016 11:13

WoodenSpoon, step away from that toaster! I love the stuff but it's been my downfall, only had 1 slice since february Sad

Second the roasted veg suggestion, you can roast pretty much anything, chop it up put in a bowl with oil, salt, herbs or spices of your choice, mix up then spread on a tray and roast. Peppers are also great grilled like this, and something you can make in a batch and keep in the fridge. Another favourite of mine is red cabbage cooked in a frying pan with garlic, ginger and soy sauce.

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 11:38

Sputnik that is well done on the toast, my weakness too and I have cut it right down, but not out, I have a gluten free slice most days, I know I should cut it and keep meaning to but not getting round to it Blush

I have left over cabbage and PSB waiting for me, steamed then tossed in butter yum. Red cabbage lasts forever in the fridge only know because I had one for weeks before I finally used it and is nicer than white I think.

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 11:49

Ha yumyum so do I - always got a cabbage and cauli lurking there, like large heads! They really do seem to hang on!

TheWoodenSpoonOfMischief · 13/04/2016 12:21

Thanks for the support!
I've made it Smile

I've got a tomato and bean stew for lunch, an apple for later and dinner is courgette and chicken.

MarvellousCake · 13/04/2016 12:37

I have a formal dinner tonight (day 5) at which I will have no choice over the food. I'm staying as per normal plan for the rest of the day, and then will see what's presented tonight. Will try to dodge the bread roll, but will almost certainly end up eating the dessert and drinking several glasses of wine - it's futile to assume otherwise.
Wish me luck!

Sputnik · 13/04/2016 12:39

Yay! Small NSV right there, take it from a recovering toastaholic!

Peasandsweetcorn · 13/04/2016 12:51

Wooden what's the tomato & bean stew recipe?
Day one here. Weighed in at 10st12 this morning. I expect to lose a few pounds this week just because some of that is post-holiday bloat.
So far today I'm at about 350 calories having scrambled three eggs and served them on some ham & spinach. It would have been so much nicer with a muffin but not as nice as it will be to feel thinner!

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 13:01

well done peas and mischief! Enjoy tonight marvellous!

I have had all my calories now.... at least i am full...could be a loooong day.

ExConstance · 13/04/2016 13:43

Bread is my downfall, I'm now keeping DS2's supplies in the freezer. DH is coeliac and his tastes awful. I put on weight in the first place by continual sandwich making and eating (and the rest) so I'm thinking it may have to go for good.

clare8allthepies · 13/04/2016 14:21

Thanks for the tips, I had chicken and courgette spaghetti with the tinned toms last night and chicken salad for lunch. Not sure what tonight's exciting chicken dish will be but I have some purple sprouting broccoli that will feature somewhere.

Will reread the book for some more recipe ideas later. Feeling a bit grotty and lacking energy at the moment but hopefully that will pass soon.

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 15:54

marvellous - I have to do lots of formal too - forgo bread, dismiss spuds + only taste the pud... push away the rest of it, and stuff your napkin on it to get rid of it after a mere taste...then clap yourself on the back for having succeeded!!

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 15:58

yumyum all gone by lunchtime?

MarvellousCake · 13/04/2016 16:00

H3 that sounds admirable (re pud) but near impossible! Will have to see what it is...

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 16:07

exC if your DH is coeliac and you mainline bread when it's there i'd seriously pop it into the 'specials' tin.... DH needs to look at what he eats + why, sometimes substitutes don't work in reworking our food mindsets.
This diet is more more way of life and about working around foodstuffs, not eliminating forever but perhaps eating/redefining 'bad' favourites as' specials'

Not2bObvious · 13/04/2016 16:07

I second the taste & push away all lady'like and it's terribly rich, just a taste will do. Failing that, 2 tastes😉
Do what you can but most of all have a great night. Another day with over 14,000 steps, hope it helps me with the gain. Dinner is a mystery at this stage, but I'm toying with houmous/carrot sticks/celeriac slaw/ham kinda meze idea maybe? A smorgasbord if you will lol!

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 16:09

Honestly marvellous a dessert with a napkin stuffed in it is not delicious any more.....it's a mess!!

H3l3naGraham · 13/04/2016 16:14

Meze good not2b - great for using up weird fridge remains..... before they start knocking on the big white door....

We will now be food - free until breakfast, todaysk lunch was beige, carb full + not very BSD, from tomorrow will be back on the bonnet!! : ) : )

yumyumpoppycat · 13/04/2016 16:25

yup fortunately the leftover salmon I had has given me tummy ache so not that hungry {swigs herbal tea like a maniac}

Not2bObvious · 13/04/2016 19:42

Oh crap yum (hope that's not a prediction😉) Feel better soon.
Around 1000 calories and some of them naughty, but not too many. Teeth brushed, kitchen closed. Coming up to the weekend & need to keep the behaviour good - no necking cocktails and howling along with Coldplay at 1 in the morning this weekend!
