Welcome all newbies.
Trotting along here, but way over my 800. Need to reign in my chocolate consumption.
Like Laska's idea of re-reading the book. Will do.

H3l3naGraham · 03/04/2016 15:58

Hi Laska - your eating plan seems very similar to what I actually do...... on Sat + Sun DH and I have one slice of toast each as a treat. We also have wine (red now, always) on weekends only. I am losing 2lbs a week, more or less steadily with only a couple of blips.

isshoes - I follow the recipes and the ones on the BSD site, not many foods I don't eat.... so not hard to stick with the recommendations! If you can't make the almond butter, just swap it for something else with similar calorie values, I do this if any recipe recommends chicory, I think it's food from hell!

Laska5772 · 03/04/2016 16:09

Having now done so, I now think re -eading the book is essential , once you have gone so far (and to keep rereading in the future to keep on track) , Its very interesting to take the 'carbs test' again , so you can see how far you have come .
Also in the 'excitement' of my first read , I realise that I didnt take it all in really ,. ,

For example, the exercise bit (especially about doing some weight bearing exercise) has hit home more now, also the bits where MM talks about how he now manages his everyday eating and -(including having one 'fast day a week ', - not eating for 14hrs on one day only) which is inspiring.

Also I dont think i really took in the advice on 'alternative' carbs , i can have on the 5:2 mediterranean plan ( and havent been having up to now ) , beans, quinoa berries etc etc .

I was not diabetic ( and maybe not even prediabetic) , but its also good to know realise that my loss of 19lbs and 5 in off the waist is about what he would have expected.(i had been slightly disappointed in that , given so e of the results I have ben reading about claimed on the 'official BSD website by posters . but rereading the book has made me 'remember' that of course if you have a lot more to lose than I did , People are losing an awful lot more ..

Laska5772 · 03/04/2016 16:10

thats very encouraging H3 do you and DH have much more to lose now?

Mellowautumn · 03/04/2016 16:22

10 days in and I've lost a stone !!# I do have aprox 5 to lose so long way to go.

I am diabetic - have managed to stsy medication free for a year but am 50 in 3 months and was to be diabetes free by then.

Hard day tommorow as we always have an end of hoilday meal out. Think i will save all my calories and have steack and veg.

H3l3naGraham · 03/04/2016 17:04

Well done Mellow that's a terrific start!

Laska DH want to lose another stone I want to lose 1 + 1/2 - target date is October, DH has a big do which I have ordered a 'slimline' dress plus I have a big birthday......

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 03/04/2016 19:29

2 x Cumberland sausages plus broccoli for dinner. I'm on 750 calories, which leaves enough for a cup of tea after DD goes to bed.

Mellowautumn · 03/04/2016 19:53

Thanks - slightly stunned to be honest - I know I have a fast metabolisum and and quite muscular but it also show just how bloody much I was eating before ! I think posdibly 4000 cals on average.

ICJump · 04/04/2016 05:59

Hello
I've just started today. I'm doing ok. The rhubarb and yoghurt for breakfast , no carb ploughman for lunch.

But I'm wondering about coffee. Well the milk in coffee. I have 3 to 4 a day with a decent slug of milk. Do I need to count this?

In case it's relevant I've got between 50-60 kilos to lose and my TDEE is about 2200 calories. I'm also breastfeeding but he's 15 months so I'm not overly worried about that.

Obs2016 · 04/04/2016 07:44

I've put on 6lbs since yesterday. Really? No. I know not.

Elvish · 04/04/2016 08:15

Just checking in before I go away, 12.1 this morning.

I'm aiming to eat on plan for breakfast and lunch this week but not for my evening meal and there will be wine. There will be a lot more exercise than usual though so I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a maintained weight over the week, or a little loss that goes quickly.

I've just packed all the kids Easter eggs into a big tin to take with us, I'll have to be very careful not to eat them all!

Hope everyone has a good week, welcome newbies, do give the 800 a day a try. I agree that once you cut out rice/pasta/bread you can have quite a lot of food.

Elvish · 04/04/2016 08:17

I would count your milk IC, even if it takes you to 900 cals you're probably still going to loose, but I think it's a better habit to track everything so you don't get in a cheating mindset. Good luck with it.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 04/04/2016 08:21

What do you all try to do - have very small breakfasts and lunches and medium-sized dinners? Yesterday I had lunch and dinner, each about 350-400 cals. I'm intending to do the same today, but I wondered if it's better to spread my meals out a bit. What do you think?

Not2bObvious · 04/04/2016 08:28

Having 2 meals is good some times because you include some fasting then but it's a personal choice really. Typed 2 posts & lost them last night, grr, hopefully this works

Not2bObvious · 04/04/2016 08:32

Phew, I'm back😁 I wanted to congratulate Mellow, you're 20% closer to goal than before, that's a massive achievement in a very short time. If you have another 4 to lose, it mightn't slow down too much for another couple of weeks judging by what the folks on the bsd site report, usually looking at 2-3 stone over 8 weeks, imagine that? But even if it does slow down I'd say stick with it, you're only doing good for yourself in comparison to other weight loss plans
H3l, I think you'll need that dress in a 12 at this rate, but I'm sure you won't mind having to get it altered😁

Hi everyone! Wow lots of new people, welcome all!
End of week 2 of restart and have lost 5lb so a stone in 2 weeks and 20lb since I originally started. Feeling a bit fed up as have such a long way to go - another 4 stone at least. But a stone in 2 weeks is great, long may it continue! My jeans are feeling loose and don't stay up properly even with a belt, so I think I am going to buy the next size down! A NSV yay!!

welshbubba · 04/04/2016 09:21

By the way how are everyone's energy levels on 800 cals? I'm considering trying some running (not my favourite exercise) - prob C25K based - but not feeling very energetic!! I'm not doing any exercise at the moment and need to start. Have also bought a fitness dvd and some weights but our dvd player is broken!!

Not2bObvious · 04/04/2016 10:07

Well done Welsh! That's a great chunk of weight gone. Running isn't great on this, I do think there's been talk about it being the type of exercise not conducive with a low calorie diet. Walking is your friend and weights and hiit , fitness blender on YouTube has some great hiit/weights workouts, some very quick as well. Not sure of your age but I read a good article in the huff about running not being that effective for woman in around/over 40. Weights were a better investment in future health

Tooextra- I personally have tea/coffee for breackfast and soup for lunch leaving most calories for an evening meal. I am diabetic and 2 meals ives a better blood sugar profile than 3 - i will continue with 1/2 meals a day afterwards

mootime · 04/04/2016 10:44

Morning all.
I'm starting again today. Managed to gain a couple of lbs over the week off so feeling bloated and ready to go. I'm going to try to last til supper with coffee (with almond milk) tea water and stock cubes....
Then this evening I need to think of what to eat!! Maybe salmon and veg.
Will see.
I've already done 4.5k steps.

It's interesting to hear about the running. I was thinking of trying to get running avian, but I'll just stick to my 10k steps

H3l3naGraham · 04/04/2016 10:52

Morning all, hello even more newbies, lovely to have more people on board this brilliant diet forum!

Despite straying from the straight & narrow at 2 parties this weekend, the policy of not eating any of the carbs on offer and only eating twice a day, resisting breakfast, has paid off. I am not sure how, drinking my own not inconsiderable body-weight in red wine has resulted in losing another 1/2lb but there we have it. Not to be recommended though....

Mellow - go for walking & weights, swimming or some HIT on an exercise bike - I am chronic with exercise, but am doing a 2 mile walk a day at a good lick and have enrolled in an aqua-aerobics class for beginners.

Welsh - isn't it lovely when your jeans fall down!!! DH's actually did yesterday ( cue me, ROTFL) & I have had to resort to a belt as well, given BIG clothes to the charity shop & am holding off buying much more trouser-wise until my weight settles down, have had to buy 4 new pairs of jeans already this year & can't continue at that level, as 2 pairs are now at the charity shop! Am kicking myself, last year I gave all my decent, too small clothes, namely trousers to one of those shops which sells them & gives a % in return..... Could do with them back now!!

Not2B - a size 12... Gosh, that would be so weird, can't remember when I was last that slim, 14 would make me very happy though!!

2extra - I was horrified at the sugars in milk, Dr M/The Big Choc, recommends only tiny amounts. I have one proper cuppa a day and have swapped my daily lattes for a weekly cappuccino...Herb tea & water rule now. I did try almond milk in tea but it was too bitter for my palate, although it does work a treat in my occasional bowl of porridge (not strictly on-diet but a cold morning necessity at times)

Elvish - have a lovely break, we are away next weekend seeing friends in Bournemouth & going for a bit of a 'do' another diet challenge, but have learnt that I can do wine if I relinquish any other carb-naughties & not massacre the diet too much.

H3l3naGraham · 04/04/2016 10:58

Sorry it was IC who asked about milk, apologies.

2extra - I eat 2 meals a day at weekends, 3 during the week. Modest breakfast as per diet plan, modest lunch & marginally bigger dinner. I try my best to eat within a 6-8 hour window, this works when we don't go out, but is challenging when seeing friends as no-one really wants dinner at 7PM! The tight food window also helps with weight-loss & is another Dr M hint, it was on his programme Trust Me.. And I have to say, once I got into this way of eating it isn't an issue, I don't wake up hungry even though we eat by 7PM & don't have breakfast until 10-10.30.

Obs2016 · 04/04/2016 11:39

mellow, I'm a type 1.

welshbubba · 04/04/2016 11:41

That's a great excuse for not starting running! Will maybe try brisk walking instead. I'd like to walk to and from school twice a day - would be about 4 miles total plus pushing 2 year old uphill in a buggy - but older dc complains on the odd occasion I walk to pick him up! Maybe the car will have to break down!! Grin

welshbubba · 04/04/2016 11:44

I hadn't realised we're supposed to be avoiding milk. I assumed as yogurt was allowed milk would be too. I only have a dash of skimmed in my tea though so don't think it would add up to much.
