Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

yours sounds nice also yumyum. (btw think ive remembered your first 5:2 name..you'd set me a memory challenge and for some reason it popped into my head earlier.. did it begin with a P? .. )

BTW do you remember Cyclistist? i wonder what hapenned to him, he had diabetes and I was reminded of him from the 'cases ' in Dr Ms book BSD book ,, it did sound very much like him.

My dinner was v small, and all cooked in teaspoon of olice oil and stock ,but yes tasty .

Laska5772 · 01/02/2016 22:38

Superfoods indeed! Grin well spotted I mean to do that of course

IguanaTail · 01/02/2016 22:48

Are blueberries ok?

I didn't feel hungry at all today. Ended up with carrots and hummus for dinner. Very odd.

Laska5772 · 01/02/2016 23:04

Dr M says berries are ok, Blueberries are 57 cals and 14 carbs per 100g according to MFP, so I reckon they will be ok (just not too many)

IguanaTail · 01/02/2016 23:13

Are oats mentioned? As in plain ones. I do like their slow release.

IguanaTail · 01/02/2016 23:13

Thank you re blueberries.

Laska5772 · 01/02/2016 23:38

Oats also ok in moderation. Have you read the book yet?

Theres lots of info and also a forum to join here on Dr Mosley's Bloodsugar diet website

IguanaTail · 02/02/2016 06:28

Yes I have. I didn't find the recipes that amazing to be honest. Had a smoked salmon omelette the other evening - it was a bit meh. The heat of the eggs cooked the salmon. But I've lost half a stone since last Tuesday so that's motivating me a lot.

Obs2016 · 02/02/2016 10:22

Well done iguana!!

Laska5772 · 02/02/2016 19:14

som eof the recipes looked quite good and others not so , but i'm mainly making it up as I go along .. especially as Im also trying to be frugal.

OK you shouldnt weigh everyday ..well Dr M actually says its ok and those that weigh frequently lose more in the long run, but we do have to remember that weight fluctuates...

However I'm very pleased to say I did , and that the scales were down 1.5lbs this morning from yesterday....

So this means that in my first week (I started last Tuesday) I have lost 6.5lbs! Grin.. its not 'official though until Friday as thats going to be my WI day..
However , even if the scales are up a bit again tomorrow, I am thrilled!

B and L were the same as yesterday and I snacked on a sliver of vintage cheddar when I got in from work ,

but I have just had the yummiest dinner

100g chicken breast , stir fried/poached with atsp of olive oil and a little stock, mushrooms. onion , roasted red pepper out of a jar and half a spaghetti squash.. with chilli and soy sauce ..

It was utterly delish.. MFP makes it 280 for that meal .

I dont know how easy it is to get spaghetti squash ( we grew our own last year and have a few left.. ) but if you can they are great , when you steam them they can be forked into strands just like noodles.. Im going to grow lots more this year. Spiralising courgettes to make 'courgetti' would work also though

MFP makes me 724 for all of that ..so I may have some frozen blackcurrants later

yumyumpoppycat · 02/02/2016 19:15

Yes you are correct Laska!

Fab work on the 7lbs iguana.

Done ok today foodwise fairly healthy, a little 70% choc, prob 50 cals over but pos less, and weight back to where it was on sat, should have known steady loss was too good to be true!

yumyumpoppycat · 02/02/2016 19:19

cross post...you were correct about my name.

I have always wanted to try spaghetti squash, it's quite funny as the supermarkets are all now selling butternut squash spaghetti (sainsburys do a fairly big bag for £1.20), courgetti, riced cauliflower etc. my experience with the cauliflower rice though is that homemade is better as it seems to go a bit stinky in the plastic tub.

IguanaTail · 02/02/2016 19:24

Thanks everyone 😊 I normally give up after a few days or am ravenous as I drive home and end up buying something at the petrol station. But this time I keep thinking how I want to get the weight off and that nothing will taste as good as feeling slim will feel again.

Laska5772 · 02/02/2016 20:43

Hooray! Yumyum post menopause and I can still remember something !! Grin

Yddraigoldragon · 03/02/2016 09:18

I found a spaghetti squash in my local greengrocer a few days ago, saw a recipe that said it was good. Cannot find the recipe, and the squash is still in the fridge. I think it was a pressure cooker quick steam cook. Will have to dig some more.
In other news, after having stalled for the best part of a week and talking yesterday about giving up, I was 3lb down this morning. Total of 18lb now since 5th Jan. I have recently upped the water as I was feeling a bit dry, so maybe that was the missing link.

Hi, not usually much of a poster but feeling inspired (and slightly obsessed!). Family history of T2 and all weight goes round my middle... anyway read the book on Saturday and started on Sunday and am 3.6 lbs down already!

Laska5772 · 03/02/2016 19:03

yddrai Pressure coking seems a bit OTT, I just cut mine in half or wedges (depending how big it is) and microwave it, ,,I cant tell you for how long - depends on the size.. try about 5-7 min on high and see if it starts to seperate into strands (you dont want over cooked so if it doesnt put it back in for a few mins and try again (mine usually tale 8-10 mins but they have been stored since last summer so are pretty hard.) . Then what I do once i have the strands is cook a little more in the sauce im using or stri fry.

NEVER put a whole SS in a microwave!!! My DH did this .. Explosion!. (he had to clean it up Grin)
You can also bake it though I never have.. lots of recipes on the web

so today I had same old B & L and spring greens with chicken and bacon chopped in for dinner.. (chilli and soy also ) .. was yummy.. I just fancied bacontoday..

Im about 40 cals over today ( but feeling really good, went to bed a bit hungry yesterday , but otherwise ive been doing just fine onthe hunf ger front..

How is everyone else doing..?

Have you all been on the official BSD site forums ? there are lots of people there now.. and tons of good advice..

Laska5772 · 03/02/2016 19:04

HI ZenAusten thats a great weight loss

Yddraigoldragon · 03/02/2016 19:17

Thanks laska, will give that a go

Obs2016 · 03/02/2016 19:32

I haven't eaten anything today, only because I have a chest infection, so got antibiotics and my throat is so incredibly sore, it is burning, I can't swallow and struggling to breathe. I haven't felt this ill for years. The ONLY good point is that might lose some weight.

yumyumpoppycat · 03/02/2016 23:33

Hi zen welcome Grin

Laska I found the forum a bit confusing when I first looked as pretty quiet so will have another look soon.

Obs that sounds really horrible hope you manage to get some sleep tonight and the antiBs kick in and help quickly Flowers

Today I had tea, coffee and a latte during the morning then went out for a birthday lunch with colleagues. It was Mexican so I went for a frittata. Was hugely filling and I was genuinely full all afternoon and as it was a playdatey interrupted evening I skipped dinner and had another coffee Blush. If it wasn't for the health benefits of IF etc I would be a bit worried about only having had one proper meal. The weirdest thing is I have missed having green veg today Shock.

ZenAusten · 04/02/2016 14:42

Note to self - do not go to the supermarket at 1pm when you've only had 1boiled egg to eat so far...Blush

Laska5772 · 04/02/2016 21:01

I am utterly amazed .. am another lb down.. (but maybe it wont be there tomorrow).

So far this WOE seems so much better than 5:2 in terms of weight loss, I expect it will slow though

I have eaten the same again today (I never mind eating the same all week..and its easy as I only have myself to cater for)
2 eggs this morning , skinny chilli soup, and 10 almonds for lunch and dinner was 200g chicken breast stir fried/poached with spring greens and garlic, folowed by a cup of frozen blackcurrants and 2 sqs v dark choc ..

All things I really like to eat .. so am not bored yet and I think its quite balanced.. MFP says 799 cals!.

Fitbit says 11111 steps right now.. it wont be many more because i'm off to bed early with mint tea and book as usual

Tomorrow though DH is back for weekend and we are having steak..

yumyumpoppycat · 04/02/2016 22:42

Well done laska Star if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Zen what did you buy at the supermarket Grin wags finger

I didn't do too terrifically today haven't worked out my cals but prob closer to 1100. Not a disaster though by any stretch. Have now lost almost 9lbs on this diet and trousers were very possibly a little loose today hooray

ZenAusten · 05/02/2016 06:48

Sandwich and a packet of crisps (I was starving!) Yumyum. Did enjoy it thoughSmile
