Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

zobalina and Elvish I had a couple pf glasses of wine and 1 gin and slimline last weekend, I put back on a couple of pounds just from that , and its taken me all week to lose them..

Sorry...

This weekend i'm sticking to fizzy water with ice and lemon..

(it might also make a difference depending how much you have to lose .. I (only?) have a stone to lose and i think its harder when there is less to lose . also ive been doing it 6 weeks now and my weight loss definately slowed right down, the last 3 weeeks ive only lost about 1.5 lbs a week .. ( however I'm still happy with that , have lost over a stone in those 6 weeks )

zobalina77 · 11/03/2016 22:44

I feared that would be the case Laska. I do tend to get a bit silly when I have a drink too and end up having far too much.

I've got 7 stone to lose, even so I'm amazed I've lost a stone in 2 weeks. I've got an underactive thyroid which makes losing weight so difficult.

Not2bObvious · 12/03/2016 06:33

Arg!!! The curse of the weekend. Didn't eat until 3 yesterday, then had Chinese (chicken skewers, sauce on the side, stir fried veg & bean sprouts, no rice/chips/noodles) 2 small glasses of wine - small bar of choc. Up 1.2lb this morning!!! I know it's not real, I only ate 1400-1500 cals at most yesterday and I know it'll be gone in 2-3 days but seriously seriously irritating and demotivating. Glycogen whatever cells my fat cranky arse 😡 I wouldn't mind, I can't even blame constipation, my psyllium capsules are working a treat. Oh whatever, 16:8 today with my usual Saturday workout.

Elvish · 12/03/2016 07:01

Thanks for that Laska, your experience might make me think twice. But, it's going to be a tough afternoon as we're taking the DC to a memorial tree planting for DFIL and we're all going to be upset. Then DH and I are going out so I can imagine a fair bit of letting off steam.

Plus we are going for lunch with the family after the service and then we'll eat later with friends. My goal is to avoid carbs and sweets and get back on it tomorrow.

I do think weighing yourself daily can be depressing, I don't have any scales so I can't do that and I have to take a longer term view of my losses.

Good luck today Zob, fingers crossed we don't undo all our hard work GrinWink

Burgerbobismydad · 12/03/2016 08:25

I've just weighed and measured and at the end of week two, I've lost 15lbs, four inches off my waist, four inches off my hips, an inch or two off thigh, bust, Bicep etc. So so pleased! I was amazed when I did the body measurements. Can't believe it!

Six weeks to go!

I've even had a chocolate hit this week. Tesco do chocologic sugar free choc. 2.5g carbs and 0.4g sugar per four squares. I recommend!

Not2bObvious · 12/03/2016 08:56

Well done Burgerbob! That's amazing, over a stone in 2 weeks and all those inches. My waist is down 1.5" in the 3 weeks, feels great. I'm struggling with my decision to not eat til lunch, I'm hungry 😞

Sputnik · 12/03/2016 09:21

Not2b, drink a load of water and have a coffee, it will probably pass.

Stars to Zob and Burger!

Weighing every day is definitely a double edge sword, it's the trend that matters. DH made pizza last night and I had that plus a couple of glasses of wine, my scales show a loss this morning compared to yesterday.

I take the weekends off so I am really doing 2:5 with this, but I've noticed that I've really readjusted my idea of portion sizes, and my desire for carbs is right down. Pizza aside I'll be sticking to the guidelines, and probably will still be within TDEE.

Sputnik · 12/03/2016 09:26

I had breakfast this morning, 1 small pancake with strawberries and cream. It was really filling and my stomach is now telling me it would have been happier without.

Not2bObvious · 12/03/2016 10:12

I had a v small portion of porridge (15gr) with Greek yog (full fat 50gr) and berries (40gr) in the end. I'm happier for it, feel ready for my workout now! Fish & poached egg for lunch, pork & grilled peppers for dinner. Looked at diet doctor site too, very interesting. Fruit is natures candy eh? First week of bsd I craved fruit, now a few frozen berries do me now & then

Obs2016 · 12/03/2016 11:37

I'm struggling with the calories side of things. I had 2 slices of bacon for breakfast but ended up with over 300 calories.

I had a handful of pine nuts the other day as a snack, and have now realised that's as many calories as a Lindt red ball!!

Sputnik · 12/03/2016 12:47

Yes when I think of all the nuts I used to gaily neck every day I feel quite shocked. I still eat them now but weigh them religiously!
I've always eaten pretty healthily but I realise a lot of my weight gain probably came from things like nuts and dates. And toast.

yumyumpoppycat · 12/03/2016 14:49

Amazing results Burger!!

Obs I have been eating all my cals pretty much before 3pm (breakfast, snack and v late lunch typically) everyday since mothers day, and have lost more than double this week despite going a bit over the 800 a couple of times and eating a dieting nono for my main meal yest, 10 stone 10.8 lbs now.... have bought some size 12 skinny jeans from new look (vanity sizing and stretchy, fingers crossed as not tried them on yet!) .

yumyumpoppycat · 12/03/2016 15:10

Actually Obs I forgot about your type 1so ignore my ramblings!

Not2bObvious · 12/03/2016 15:11

Did you have something else with the bacon Obs to bring it to 300, or were they huge slices? The rashers I buy are only around 100 cals for 2, I often have 1 with a poached egg, black pudding (super food doncha know and LC) so I'm only around 200 for that. My porridge/yog/fruit combo this morning was 140 cals. I drink 1-2 glasses of water before I eat and then try to get another 2-3 in before lunch. That helps me get from meal to meal. I found an amazing Greek yog with a touch of vanilla, only marginally more carbs than the plain stuff. Oh my, I had 100gr of it with a square ok 2 of 70% dark choc for around 150 cals and I feel decadent 😁
Full of energy today, weights workout done, 11,000+ steps done, hoovering/ironing/bathroom cleaned/bed linen changed (nearly!)
I am doing NOTHING for the next 3 hours, earned my mn & cuppa

H3l3naGraham · 12/03/2016 15:51

Hi zobalina77 MM says in the BSD book that if you absolutely HAVE to have booze (tell me about it) that it's best to have vodka or gin with soda, I managed a vodka & soda with a good squidge of lime & lemon in it the other night & very nice it was too, topped with ice. Wine is very sugary, even red wine which has more going for it than white. My vodka drink was so cold with the ice that I could only sip it, made it last longer.....

zobalina77 · 12/03/2016 18:10

Ooooh thank you. Vodka and soda it is then.

Laska5772 · 12/03/2016 19:04

10.12.5 this morning!! Smile another pound down!!!!!! ..

Skipped breakfast and only had chicken and salad for lunch with family no Wine or bread , and skillfully avoided dessert (I cut the lemon pie and they ate it whilst i made coffee, and they didnt notice I didnt have any (it all went) They have gone home , Dh is stuffed so no need to make any more food.

I do know this sounds as a bit 'food avoidy' , but I had a good and fairly large balance lunch and weekends can be so hard around here because of other people (family) fretting if you dont eat like they do .

Luckily DH understands and supports my wish to lose weight (though loves me as I am) .. He didnt have wine at lunch either. bless him.. though has some now , but I have my fizzy water and ice and lemon.. happy withthat

I think im in the 800 cals so result!! .. fingers crossed im still that weight tomorrow.. eh?

ErnesttheBavarian · 12/03/2016 20:22

Been really good this week. Then dh away. Madly decided to finish off an open bottle of red wine. Haven't drunk for ages so no idea why i fid it. Anyway. Result is that i have felt totally knackered and insanely hungry all day. Neither the scales nor I will be happy tomorrow. Biscuit

Not2bObvious · 12/03/2016 20:33

Oh that's fab Laska, delighted for you! Very skilful dessert avoidance, and it's so good to have a supportive OH. Mine is too, although he did say I was a buzz kill having bean sprouts with my Chinese last night but only in jest. You'll see the same tomorrow, no doubt

yumyumpoppycat · 12/03/2016 20:40

That's great laska! Lovely that your family loves spending weekends with you and you are becoming an expert at hosting without it being a problem .. cant believe they didn't save you lemon pie though Angry Wink

ScoutandAtticus · 13/03/2016 06:50

Gah! I started 2 weeks ago. Did well for 3 days and then fell off the wagon and have struggled since. I just keep telling myself it won't work. Weird.

Anyway, this thread has given me hope so I am going to give if a go.

ErnesttheBavarian · 13/03/2016 08:36

scout, don't give up.

Laska, you family sounds lovely :)

Well, after my rare dabble with the booze, I was totally knackered and insanely hungry yesterday, and I slept for a straight 10.5 hours! Shock Can't remember when I ever did that before. I only woke up when one of the dc knocked on y door after 9.

And as a result put on loads. so I won't be doing the booze again any time soon.

Plus I went shopping in a different supermarket which had a (teeny) GF section, and I bought some GF brownies! Big mistake. In the UK there's loads of stuff in every supermarket I've been in but here not. Our local one doesn't have any GF food at all, so I fell totally into the brownie trap Blush

And I'm coming to UK in a week so surrounded by loads of GF temptation..... Not good.

Will power is generally easy for me given that I can't eat most nice/bad things anyway...

Not2bObvious · 13/03/2016 09:27

I'm wrecked today after drinks last night but I had a great night so it was worth it. I've just had my yog/oats/berries mix accompanied by a nice big dose of ibuprofen. If only I could get more sleep😖
I'm toying with the idea of a big walk in a while, fresh air might help? Grasping at straws aren't I, oh well. Good news was the scales is showing a drop from yesterday, I had been up 1.2 from my Friday low, now I'm only .4 over Friday's weight. Really encouraging me not to cock up today. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday

Obs2016 · 13/03/2016 11:28

Thanks not2 and yummy.
Don't give up scout!!

Cheby · 13/03/2016 14:15

Some great results on here since I last popped in.Smile

I'm feeling positive again; I had 4 days where the scales barely moved, but I've stuck religiously between 7-800kcal per day for 7 days now and at this morning's weigh in I've dropped another 1.5kg! I'm two weeks and 5 days in, and that's a total of 8.8kg. Almost lost as much as DH now (who has a lower TDEE than me and cheats more but somehow manages to lose weight much more easily!).

We have another week and two days left as we initially intended to do 4 weeks, have a week on 5:2 (its DD's birthday and we are having a couple of parties plus I'm making the cake, and I know there is no way I can make it through that without cheating), followed by 4 more weeks on this diet. Feels very manageable now and I'm amazed at how much easier it's become to stick to the 800.
