Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

Thanks for sending me to bed with a smile Smile

lucjam2105 · 29/02/2016 22:34

Ugh can you imagine eating gull. Blurgh. Horrible things.

Did 845 kcals today and 10,000 steps, did 7,000 tonight with a friend walking the streets for an hour and a half. Pooped now.

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2016 00:01

Grin that last typo is brilliant Ernest!

Fingers crossed Obs that the tablets works.

Well done han . Really good work Luc too, and I think I am under 800 too so quite a few of us have had a good day and climbed back on the wagon etc {hifives all round}

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2016 00:04

I am going to have strange dreams about plus sized redheads dancing on Ernests phone while sea gulls swoop down and try and knick their fish and chips....

ErnesttheBavarian · 01/03/2016 06:36

Not many seagulls in these here parts Smile. Not many redheads either for that matter.

Another .2 kilos down. Weight loss is excruciatingly slow. Still shouldn't grumble. I have stuck around 800 and not gone over once. These 5 kilis are going to come off kicking and screaming arrrgggghhhhh

Not2bObvious · 01/03/2016 08:33

Well I survived the dulcolax, without being too graphic it's done some work but more to goBlush
I hear you ernest, weight had been
falling off & then crept on a bit & now slowly coming off again. Down .4 of a pound since yesterday. 6.8lbs in 2 weeks, it's good I know - but it had been 8.4 down. It is what it is, 2 weeks to go

Cheby · 01/03/2016 09:02

Just popping back to the thread because today marks the end of my first week. I've lost 10.5lbs/4.8kg.

Definitely gives you the drive to keep going. I have an enormous amount to lose to get to a healthy weight though, my TDEE is 2900. We are struggling to stick to 800, most days I come in somewhere between 8-900. But that's still a fairly significant calorie deficit for me hence the big loss I assume.

DH has lost a whole stone I am pleased for him but also slightly jealous, as he has less to lose than me. Grin

Weekends are really hard, took DD swimming and to the zoo, which distracted us as much as entertained her.

I made her a mini roast on Sunday (she's 2 and there are limited healthy things she'll eat), I ended up eating a roast potato, which i was annoyed with myself for and immediately binned the rest of the leftovers. Only refined carbs I had in the week though, so I guess not too bad.

Cheby · 01/03/2016 09:04

I've seen a few of you mention flu symptoms? Is that to do with the diet? DH and I have been struck down by a horrid cold (but actually it's having the effect of making me feel less hungry at the moment so I'm not too upset about it).

HanYOLO · 01/03/2016 11:00

I'm sick as a dog but it's definitely a cold. I suspect I have the the carb flu to look forward to -probably going to coincide with PMT by my predictions - hurrah!

Glad something's helping a bit Notso.

Great weightloss Cheby! One roast potato shouldn't derail you surely?

Is anyone going the protein shake route. I was thinking about them for the odd occasion when working late-ish and cooking doesn't feel like an option, to stop the oven chips calling.

Obs2016 · 01/03/2016 11:08

We are all doing well.
Love the typo's!! Grin

Apricots are ok. They are in a couple of the Mosley 800 recipes.

StEdmundsPippins · 01/03/2016 11:09

Hello all, can I please join you?
I'm in a bit of a shock today as I was told yesterday by my GP that I'm borderline diabetic, and I'm really upset. It's a hell of a wake up call.

I'm 5'10" and weighed myself at 16 stone bang on this morning. So this is my starting point. I have Fibromyalgia and since being diagnosed with it over a decade ago I've slowly but surely piled on 5 stone - so it's just got to go. I could cry.

I find it difficult to exercise, but have just been out for a 15 min walk, and hope that in time I can increase it to around 30 mins a day.
I'm also looking at my diet too much chocolate and have decided from now on to only eat when I'm hungry, rather than out of habit.

I had my own muesli for breakfast, going to have a small chicken salad for lunch, then steamed veggies with chickpeas topped with a homemade herby tomato sauce for dinner. does that sound ok?

My dad has diabetes. I should have taken notice of the warning signs I was having - very, very tired, very thirsty, weight gain, craving sugar. I really, really don't want this, so if anyone can help, you have my eternal gratitude.

ErnesttheBavarian · 01/03/2016 11:38

Welcome stud. Sorry you're feeling g so shit. Today it all starts to change. Well help you. Get the book or print off the recipes and stick to it. Next week will be easier than this. Hopefully. Anyway on the plus side, if you have a lot to loose you'll loose a lot quickly. Hopefully

lucjam2105 · 01/03/2016 12:14

Way hey not great news!

Well done cheby.

I lost 2.5 lbs overnight bringing me to a 4 lb loss since last Friday which I'm really pleased with. I've decided to do 3:4 so I can run on three days I have where I'm having more than 800 kcal.

Onwards and downwards troops Grin

lucjam2105 · 01/03/2016 12:18

han I've ordered some shakes from exante. I think they are protein based and not too sugary you make them with water not milk. They come with a shaker. They should be delivered today. They were on special offer. Thought it would be good to have them as a standby.

Sputnik · 01/03/2016 12:18

Welcome StEd.The important thing to focus on is that you are going to take control of this, with any luck you will catch it in time and make a positive difference. I don't think anyone on this thread is actually diabetic or pre diabetic, but over over on the BSD website forum there are loads of people who are, and are having very big successes in lowering their blood sugar almost from the start.

My advice for starting out:
you need to weigh and log everything you eat in MyFitnessPal, Fitday or similar to make sure you know how many calories you're getting, at least at first.
It may be hard at first but gets easier after a few days, personally I managed more like 900-1000 in the first days
Water helps

With the exercise work up slowly to walking more, it's still more than what you were doing before.

Sputnik · 01/03/2016 12:28

I have no idea what I weigh anymore, no idea how much my cast weighs, my scales are so rubbish they give a different reading from 1 minute to the next and I don't think standing on 1 leg helps either. I also think maybe I'm retaining more water due to inactivity.
Whatever, I am going to carry on carrying on, the way I see it is on 800 a day you can't not lose, right?

Elvish · 01/03/2016 13:00

Just think how much you'll loose when you get the cast off Sputnik Wink

StEdmundsPippins · 01/03/2016 15:58

Thankyou Smile

I've got some work to do, but will be back later to read the link in fullSputnik. I've had a quick glance and it looks really useful.

I haven't got round to weighing or counting calories yet, just cut out as much carbs as possible to start with, and including my downfall which is chocolate, that will probably be quite a large amount.

But whatever I do, my blood sugar just HAS to come down.

Obs2016 · 01/03/2016 16:04

I am a type 1 diabetic. Since aged 1, now early 40's. Been here since early on in the thread. (Not particularly recommended for type 1's but I'm doing ok, ignoring a few falling off the wagons!! )
Welcome StEd.

Obs2016 · 01/03/2016 16:08

Tee hee. Sputnik's cast comes off and poof 2 stone disappears!! Wink

Sputnik · 01/03/2016 16:26

I'll drink to that! Wine

Sputnik · 01/03/2016 19:02

DH and DCs came back with pizza unexpectedly and I resisted, I so nearly didn't!
In under 800 today and that's including a square of dark chocolate.

Somebody pass the halo polish please Grin

BigChocFrenzy · 01/03/2016 19:18

Lots of great SVs and NSVs on this thread, but Sputnik wins it with her instant 2 stone
At least you can scratch properly.

On the BSD, NO prunes or other dried fruit
Constipation On an empty tum, 1tbsp olive oil mixed with 1teasp lemon juice, total 120 cals

low fat products OK if they have no addded sugar.
Since they have reduced fat, the carb content will automatically be higher for mathematical reasons.
Personally, I much prefer a smaller amount of full fat Greek yog to zero fat, but tastes differ.
Some reduced fat hard cheese tastes just as good as the full fat though.

Full fat gulls bite your nosr

Sputnik · 01/03/2016 19:40

I wish! I still have the bloody thing and please don't mention scratching!
