Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

I ran a bit while walking the dog. I didn't feel any different to how I felt when eating normally.

Re weight loss, I think the scales won't show the full loss as erm I can't say it politely. I'll just day bathroom and leave it as that iyswim.Blush

lucjam2105 · 27/02/2016 22:08

Ahh yes I understand Ernest!

Elvish · 27/02/2016 22:25

I'd Really like to have lost 5lb, which might be totally unrealistic but I have it in my head that people have lost 40lb doing the 8 weeks at 800 a day, and surely in my first week I should have a good loss??

Anything over a couple of lb would be good really, but if it's a 1-2lb loss a week then I may as well do weight watchers...

Elvish · 27/02/2016 22:29

Fingers crosses that you have a better result than you're expecting Ernest in the bathroom and on the scales Grin

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 08:14

Ok so officially 1.4 kg down which is 3 lb. I didn't have the necessary bathroom experience Blush back on the prune juice. So despite sticking to the 800 and doing loads of exercise yesterday I'm .5 kg heavier today than yesterday. Oh well.

Still I'm glad to be 1.4 down obviously and I find this really easy to do. 1.4 down, 5.5 to go. I have tried for years to shift these 5 kg so I'll be amazed and astonished and delighted if I succeed.

Keep strong everyone. Especially those who find weekends more difficult!

ScoutandAtticus · 28/02/2016 10:36

I have downloaded the book and want to start today. I am a bit nervous of a LCD as it goes againsy the advice but seeing as I am 3.5 stone overweight I need to do something!

Sputnik · 28/02/2016 11:04

I think the really high losses on this diet come from people who start off heavy, because they have a higher TDEE. The lighter you are the lower your losses will be. 1lb of fat is 3500 cals so that's going to be quite a big deficit over several days.

I am so annoyed I went for a walk yesterday and sprained my ankle, I've now got a cast which will be on at least 2 weeks. I can't put any weight on it at all. So no walking, no swimming and no workouts for at least 2-3 weeks, just as I was getting into a routine. I am so pissed off thinking of all the things I can't do, I was also signed up to walk 10k in a marathon in about a month, so that's now off too.

I'm sticking to the diet though, this probably wouldn't have happened if I wasn't heavier than I ought to be.

Sputnik · 28/02/2016 11:06

Welcome Scout. According to more recent research very low calorie diets are not damaging as thought and are more effective, especially for people with more to lose.

OttiliaVonBCup · 28/02/2016 11:18

Funny, when I posted about a very low calorie diet here last year I got slaughtered by people who said it was irresponsible and the best way - which was their way, was to lose about an ounce a week for 35 years.
only slightly exaggerating here

yet here we are now.

Eggsandketchup · 28/02/2016 11:25

I'm day 3 into the 800 cal blood sugar diet. The low-carb flu has well and truly kicked in. I feel like total shit. bleugh.

How long did this phase last for everyone else?

Obs2016 · 28/02/2016 11:39

Oh dear Sputnik, what a pain, literally!!

I don't seem to be doing very well recently. I promised myself a couple of weeks ago that I would be very strict. But I haven't been. I really need to reign this in.

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 13:05

OMG I have just made my 1st ever batch of cloud bread. 20 more minutes in the oven. It smells delicious. I'm having to post here AND clean the kitchen just to distract myself.

I feel ok on this diet physically (well, I unfortunately feel shit most of the time so let's just say that I don't feel worse) but then I suppose I dot have such a big amount of stuff to give up, I already gave up caffeine and I can't drink alcohol or eat anything nice with gluten so maybe food wise I'm not suddenly having to cut so much stuff out. Plus I find VLC miles easier than torturous lowish. I mean. 800 is easier for me than 1200.

Good luck for all you new people. Sputnik - sorry about your ankle. Hope it feels better soon..

I'll keep you all posted on the cloud bread.

Elvish · 28/02/2016 13:11

Well I'm thrilled, I've lost 7lb this week. I'm really motivated to keep it up and I'm going for a walk now to get my steps up. Smile

Sorry to hear about your accident Sputnik, but if you can stick to the 800 per day at least you won't put any weight on.

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 13:22

Ooh well done! I'm off to eat some cloud bread. Vigorously changing our bed yo burn off extra calories!

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 14:01

Ok. Report back. Cloud bread wad ok. Didn't live up to its smell.the mild disappointment I'd clouding my view as to whether I make it again.

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2016 16:20

Sputnik that sucks defo concentrate on diet that way you might actually end up losing more than you would have while exercising so there is a silver lining. Ernest your cloud bread looks wonderful shame it didn't taste as good as you hoped, maybe with some different toppings it will be yummier.

I had a treaty weekend lunch yesterday 1 egg mashed with a small piece of banana and fried in butter then a smidge of 100% peanut butter and st dalfour blackcurrant jam (100% fruit, quite sour and just a smidge ;) ) I think it would have worked better with the peanut butter mashed into the mix before cooking and just the jam on top.

Well good result for me this morning as lost almost 2lbs compared to yest am, yay. Defo worth reigning in obs even if just for a couple of days as coming in under 800 made a bug difference yesterday for me.

Great loss elvish!

Elvish · 28/02/2016 16:50

What is the recipe for the cloud bread Ernest? I've never heard of it.

Your lunch sounds... Interesting YumYum is there any sugar in the jam?

And can anyone help me with the abbreviations you all use? I've figured out Vlcd but not TDEE or any of the others?

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2016 18:07

elvish it was like pancake...yummy honest! There is fruit sugar but it isn't very sweet and just a little, and also the egg meant I didn't get sugar cravings and felt satisfied, prob a different story on bread or crackers though. this is it amazon they sell it in sainsburys, waitrose etc, my kids love the strawberry one but think it would be a bit too sweet.

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2016 18:41

Had a delicious lunch, as close to plan as I felt I wanted to be 😁 Thai food, nothing to sweet sauce wish and a couple of spoons of brown rice - my first in 12 days and if I remember MM said that a little brown rice is ok? Only 2 meals today, should be under a 1000.
Oh sputnik that sucks, I reckon if you're en point with your food the lack of exercise won't matter too much, well apart from the fact you might miss it. Take it easy & let it heal properly, don't risk setting yourself back. I've managed 2 x Davina sessions each week plus tonnes of walking since I started. Managed 2 jogs this week of 20-25 mins so I'm happy enough with that. Scales stuck at 11.9 for 2 days, up .8 from Friday but I'm very sluggish since I started this. I bought a nicely named herbal tea, let's hope it does what it says on the box... "lax plus tea" 😁 Here's hoping it helps!

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2016 18:43

Ooh I think they sell that jam in a shop near me!! Nowhere near that money though Hmm Maybe I've found the one thing that's cheaper in Ireland!

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 19:06

I stumbled on the cloud bread when I was looking for info about this BSD and low carbing.

You separate 3 eggs. Whish the whites with a quater tsp cream of tartar. When they are really stiff, quickly whisk in another bowl the 3 yolks with half a cup of Greek yoghurt and a couple of tsp stevia. Then fold gently the yoke mixture into the whites, spoon 6 (I did 8) big blobs of the mixture onto a baking tray and bake for 40 mins at 150.

They smelt heavenly. They are sort of like very squishy Yorkshire puddings almost. Slightly sweet cos of the stevia. Can use them as bread, so make a sandwich. I put home made lemon curd on it.

Oh and only 42 calories eachGrin

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 19:11

Not2 obvious me tooBlush hence the prune juice.

Don't make the mistake I did. Glugged half the bottle in desperation. 2 hours later, and lasting about 2 hours, problem well and truly solvedBlushShock

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 19:21

Elvis TDEE is your total daily energy expenditure. So basically how many calories your body needs per day to run itself. Often you hear women need 2000 cals per day. But if you're short or tall or very (in)active this could be miles off. Cos I'm only a short arse mine is about 1350. So if I ate 2000 a day I'd put on weight quickly. And if I want to loose weight it has to be way under 1300.

Google TDEE calculator. There are a few, then you can put in your stats and find out your TDEE. HthSmile

ErnesttheBavarian · 28/02/2016 19:45

Ok 4 posts in a row is embarrassing. Clearly the only one with time on her hands. Just wanted to post this link. Might even have got it off here? Can't remember. It's basically like the cloud bread but with cream cheese and called oops ie rolls (?). Lots of ideas what to do with it.

Not2bObvious · 28/02/2016 21:34

Managed to force the tea down (vile, can't quite describe it but horse wee comes to mind) I'm gutted as paid nearly a fiver for the box, although if it gives me better relief than tablets, it might be worth it. Don't worry Ernest, I've done 3 posts now, you're not alone 😁
