Just wondering if anyone has tried this and how it went? I am about ten days in and coping well so far.

I have been low carbing for years on and off, and on 5:2 since Sept which seems to make the fasting easier.

Stepped on the scales and have dropped 5lbs in 2 days so am v pleased! Even with my blip of dim sum dumplings I only can me in just over 800cals and carbs were 77g so not horrendous although will aim nearer 50 in future.

Have just put the tub of almond butter in the bin as I realised that I was going to just keep spooning it out of the tub and probably use all my daily calories for the day...

littlbrowndog · 17/02/2016 11:07

Thanks Choc, will ditch my lactose free and walk to shops to get almond milk
Any excuse to get a walk in.....

Great we are all doing so well

Lost another 2 lbs this week and starting week 5 today

2 ins off my waist but still need to lose another ten to get healthier

and 3 and 1/2 more stone

All doable
clothes looser and bra comfy to wear now

Not2bObvious · 17/02/2016 18:19

Went over by nearly 200 cals. Not too bad I hope, few minor slip ups but nothing too carby. Feeling very tired & unwell today, would love some toast lol!

Laska5772 · 17/02/2016 20:14

Ive had a couple of 'tummy bloaty' days and have stopped feeling hungry at all.. ( this is like when I was on Atkins, when I had terrible constipation and ended up giving it up for that reason .) Anyway as its not Atkins and you can eat pulses I have been mainly on the veggies beans and hummus yesterday and today so hopefully that will fix things..I do hope so, because otherwise I really like this WOE

Obs2016 · 18/02/2016 06:39

Laska, I have been constipated aswell, and I'm never constipated, so that's odd.
I've been eating too much I think. I need to cut down, but I don't seem to be able to.

Not2bObvious · 18/02/2016 06:55

I read the book (too quickly maybe) so I might have missed this detail - how many carb grams should we be aiming to stick too? I'm guessing the lower the better?
Day 3 here, off to weigh myself soon

TheGoodEnoughWife · 18/02/2016 07:02

Chugging along well here, a couple of blips but mostly sticking within the 800cals. Two weeks now.

I really feel able to crack my weight this time. I have cut out sugar in my tea/coffee (have had sugar in my tea/coffee for 20yrs!) and have got used to eating a much reduced volume of food.

Haven't been to the gym which is a shame but had stuff going on, should be able to go either tomorrow or beginning of next week. Think sticking to plan most important though.

Well done everyone on keeping going and fab weight losses!

mootime · 18/02/2016 12:55

I'm struggling to stick to the 800 when I'm around the kids.
Already eaten 450 today but still low carbs. I guess it was always going to be tricky starting in half term with my parents coming up tomorrow for my dads birthday.

Not2bObvious · 18/02/2016 13:08

I'm off to the cinema with the kids shortly, just finished egg/bacon/advocado for my lunch. I'm around 400 too moo, dinner won't be til 7 but I'll be fine...right?!?Shock

Obs2016 · 18/02/2016 13:42

In the last couple of days I've craved shoving a whole bar of chocolate into my gob!!
No one else? Just Me then? !!
Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 18/02/2016 13:51

Well done everyone. Obs that is nothing, yesterday dp and I were having a late valentines date and went to theatre and pizza express for the superfood salad (was huge and v good) and sparkling water. however what I wanted was TGI fridays down the road - chips, chicken burger, milkshake and pudding! Thank goodness dp is on a diet too and kept me on the straight and narrow!

yumyumpoppycat · 18/02/2016 13:52

today I have had lentils, kale and egg, lunch was soup with extra kale added (need to use the stuff up!) need to mfp it Blush

Not2bObvious · 18/02/2016 15:44

Yum I had a burger in a bowl last night, lots of lettuce etc. It was pretty good, I have to admit to a drizzle large squirt of burger sauce. While it wasn't the bun burger & chips the rest of the family had, it was a decent compromise.
It is quite interesting how good you can eat for 800, it's just a pity my mind can't get past that - just had a slice of cheese and a portion of cashew nuts! Anyway I won't be too far over 800 today. I'm dreaming about salmon with a dollop of REAL mayonnaise, none of that low fat muck. I'll save that for a tdee day, maybe Saturday.

poorbuthappy · 18/02/2016 16:26

Where are we buying our buttermint tea from? Amazon prices are scary!

lrb978 · 18/02/2016 17:00

Started yesterday, because I have 5 days off work so hoping to get through the first hunger stage before having to work as well. Trying to do the 8 weeks 800cals as although I am not yet prediabetic, I suspect I am well on my way. I carry a lot of my weight around my middle and am about 6 stone overweight, which at 5 foot is seriously unhealthy.

I didn't manage to weigh myself before starting Sad but do know roughly what I was and will have a weekly weigh in on Sundays (I know DrM says more often, but I have got into a habit of weighing myself on a Sunday morning and would rather stick with that if at all possible).

I went just over the 800 yesterday at 825, hoping to stick to it today. Both days had frittata mid morning, had a chicken/tomato/veg casserole concoction last night, going to try the lamb and aubergine for tea tonight. Drinking 1.5-2l a day, which is a lot more than I am used to :) Just starting to want to pick at something now but am ignoring it, just had a bottle of water and am going to go and distract myself before starting tea in a bit.

Going to struggle over the next couple of days I know as I will be dealing with lack of caffeine as well as lack of carbs, but as I only like stuff with lots of milk and sugar in it I would rather just go cold turkey and work through it.

Some really impressive weight losses on this thread. Well done everyone, hope I can manage even a fraction of them.

littlbrowndog · 18/02/2016 18:03

Wait rose for butter mint tea. Was 2£ I think. Is lovely
Just go for it irb
I craved a poppadum last night as friend was here. We shared a handful of pumpkin seeds as she is also on diet

Living it up here !!

yumyumpoppycat · 18/02/2016 22:05

Not2b you are right about it being amazing what you can do with 800 cals, mm, burger without bun sounds like a great idea,

Had salad this eve and ended on 820 so not bad.

Welcome LRB dive straight in! I didn't weigh when I properly first started, wish I had now.

Ps can I recommend ikea non stick frying pans for quick brekkies, I put a smidge of oil or butter, crack the eggs in and scramble directly with a wooden spoon and they are ready almost straight away. Plonk on a bed of spinach, watercress and rocket. Pan easy to clean with kitchen paper. Quicker than toast (think our toaster must be a bit slow!)

Not2bObvious · 18/02/2016 22:43

Finished the day at 950'ish, not bad but boy I felt proper cranky tonight watching the family eat chips/pizza/cake. I had steak, onions & mushroom...then sneaked a few slices of pepperoni off the pizza, yeah probably closer to 1000 cals Blush It's much better than I was before. Be interesting to keep watching the scales, weighing in every day - dying to see how it looks after a week

Obs2016 · 19/02/2016 07:19

Well I didn't do very well yesterday.
yoghurt and blueberries for breakfast, dh made me a lovely salad for week. All going well.

came home from work, finished work for the week, after picking up ds1 and ds2 from different locations, time was very tight, and got into bed! I was a bit low diabetically, (first time in ages) so had a tiny bit of lucozade and a chocolate classic biscuit. God it was yummy. Oh dear.

Then I made Mosley lamb meatballs, cumin, paprika, 5 spice, pine nuts, really tasty. Did those in pita breads for ds's. For dh and me made spinach, chickpea, balsamic, lemon, cucumber, spring onion, pomegranate salad. Dh didn't like it.
The bloody pomegranate went everywhere, all over the walls, cupboard, IN the cupboards that were closed, IN the drawer that were closed, IN the fridge that was closed.

I drank a bottle of red and a bag of Jacobs Thai sweet chilli cracker crisps. Which is about 800 calories for the bag! I ate my daily allowance in one go and that doesn't even account for the wine. Not good. Wine

Not2bObvious · 19/02/2016 08:44

Never mind obv, sounds like a one off catastrophic reaction. I'd hazard a guess that lucozade & Classic bickie set you off on the "f**k it" path and set your tastebuds to binge mode (god I love a classic...drool) Are you diabetic? I'm sorry I'm not too au fait with what you need to eat if you're feeling a bit off that way.
It's done now, put it behind you and have a good day today, no guilt!
I'm down 3.4lb since Tuesday which would be pretty normal when I'm starting out on a new woe which I've followed properly. I've only managed 1 day at 800 but the other 2 were around 1000 so that's a vast improvement on normal. My problem isn't really hunger, it's more missing being able to eat just coz, just coz I was in the humour, just coz I was cold/bored/someone eating. I don't think it been that hungry over the few days. I'm blessed it's lent as that removes my worst trigger food/drinks automatically from the equation. (Might make this a yearly thing! A 6 week bsd each year to rebalance the body) Interesting for me to think
about why I want to eat, maybe I need the mindfulness element, would you believe I did a 6 week course & I'm still shockingly blind as to what the heck it actually is? Or is it anything??

Obs2016 · 19/02/2016 09:27

Thanks Not2. Yes, you are right. Aka frozen ( I only have ds's so not dd's madly into frozen, but even I know the song!!) let it go.... Let it go.... Onwards and upwards. Lots of water drunk today already, yoghurt and blueberries. Me and ds's are off out for along walk soon.

Yes, not2, mindfullness. Maybe I do need some of that.to make me not go on a Huge binge, like I did last night.

Do we all need to do a course?

Not2bObvious · 19/02/2016 11:22

hmm...mindfulness course, I think I'm a lost cause😁 But what I do take from it is to learn how to meditate, guided works quite well (if only to pass time and keep your mitts out of the fridge!)
I had some porridge, not sure if that's a total no-no, with Greek yogurt/berries and flaked almonds. 215 calls. Had it at 8am and I still feel ok'ish. I think lunch will be at 12.30, dinner at 6.30 - I'd love to get a decent day in

OttiliaVonBCup · 19/02/2016 11:25

I bought the book, starting on monday.

I have about one and a half stone to lose, no blood sugar issues, but my mum and grandmother both have it, so don't want to go down that way.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/02/2016 13:34

I think mindfulness wrt eating would mean stopping and thinking do I want this, why do I want to eat this, the consequence will be xyz, also enjoying the food you decide to eat and sitting and tasting it properly...not that I do this myself!

Welcome Ottila.

Think I have lost about 16lbs now which is good, but I got to this point last year Blush so the key is going lower then not regaining.
