Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Fasting at home I find hard, too. I try to go out in the evenings - dance class is my usual, nothing too strenuous.

Had the easiest ever FD yesterday - busy at work, Ainsley's Szechuan cupasoup and a satsuma for lunch, nibbled on a bag of dulse (dried seaweed), and for dinner I split a roast veg flatbread with DH - he added a crispy chicken grill to his (gourmet stuff, what...) and I tried a couple of quorn fillets. Tell you what, at 46 calories each they were really good! A can of ginger beer, dance class, some YouTube uplaoding, and a good night's sleep.

134.2 this morning, which is down a bit, happy with that. And an NSV - I'd ordered some clothes from Joe Browns, inclduing a mink lace dress. When it arrived I thought it was a bit too tight and a bit too short, but wore it to dance class with a pair of leggings. And got buckets of compliments!

Dotty342kids · 03/10/2014 08:27

Good idea, Melanie about going and doing an evening based exercise class on a FD to keep you out of the house / busy. I may try that if DH ever here Smile Dress sounds lovely - as do the compliments!
itsaboat well done for not going too overboard at the buffet and hope your 3rd FD goes well.

We had a lovely homemade butternut squash soup for tea last night and then I successfully avoided the kitchen (DH was home!).

Had lovely scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast this morning and feel nicely full now. Not going near scales until next Friday though!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 03/10/2014 09:20

Great NSV Melanie

ARGHtoAHHH · 03/10/2014 15:39

I've only had one slim a soup (AKA dirty dish water) at 44 cals so far today.

This means a lovely big dinner tonight - steak, plenty of veg, and maybe a potato or two!

Or perhaps I could forego a spud for a glass of wine??

Dotty342kids · 03/10/2014 17:38

Wine may be a slippery slope to snacking / nibbles! Or maybe that's just me.......... Smile

ItsaboatJack · 03/10/2014 17:53

Not just you Dotty Blush

TheRealAmandaClarke · 03/10/2014 17:57

Not just you dotty Blush

TheRealAmandaClarke · 03/10/2014 17:57

Grin x post

Well done Argh
Tomorrow you can eat well.

ARGHtoAHHH · 03/10/2014 18:14

You are right., of course, about the wine. Slippery slope. But I waaaant it!!

I have approx 450 calories left.

Steak is 200, veg close to nowt (green beans) I think.

How many calories do you think is in a glass of white wine?

TheRealAmandaClarke · 03/10/2014 19:49

66 calories per 100mls.

Breadandwine · 05/10/2014 20:32

I've just remembered it's exactly two years since I joined these threads - on thread nr 4!

So I had a look back at that time and if anyone is looking for inspiration they could do worse than having a browse through those earlier threads. Lots of laughs as well.

I found on there a post where I detail my up to 600 cal fast day menus, which include:
A small glass of stout before dinner
A glass of wine with dinner
A veg chilli non carne with broccoli instead of rice
A small pudding
And a square of dark chocolate just to round off the cals. Grin

Nowadays, on a fast day, I just have the low cal chilli or a curry.

bbcessex · 06/10/2014 08:03

really laughing at your FD diet from yesteryear, Breadandwine!.. sounds good to me!

if you can do the wine arghg and stop there, you're a better woman than I am - I'd take my hat off to you... it would start me on a cupboard raid..

Which brings me to this week!... great 3 fast days, but a weekend of wine and super-munching... so we'll see. .. feeling fat and bloated after my over-indulging.. FD today, Weigh day tomorrow.

Would like to lose something, but if I don't, or put on (eeeeek) then at least I know that even with 3 x FDs I still need to properly watch it on NFDs.

Good luck today all x

Dotty342kids · 06/10/2014 09:11

Morning all and Happy Fasting Monday to all of us who are fasting today!
I didn't have too bad a weekend as ate very lightly on Sat to accommodate a lovely curry and rice Sat night. Then yesterday was a bit more of a naughty day with pizzas and salad for dinner, followed by home made cake!
Have got home made soup out of the freezer for tonight's dinner. Not sure what it is, but it's orange, so it'll either be carrot or squash smile

Who else is fasting today?

bbcessex · 06/10/2014 11:59

I'm fasting today dotty.. much more straight forward on a fast day, nothing to think about!

Good luck with the mystery soup outcome :-)

Dotty342kids · 06/10/2014 12:04

Thank you! I'm already hungry. Only six hrs to go Grin

ItsaboatJack · 06/10/2014 14:22

Lost 4lbs last week Grin

It was a good first week back on it. 3 successful fasts, stuck to target weight tdee on weekday nfd's and a bit more relaxed at the weekend. In fact probably a bit too much wine on Saturday night.

FD today. Going well so far, just some milk in coffee. I'm going out tonight though, going to watch Mever Mind the Buzzcocks with a friend, so no real issues with avoiding food and drink, but I will need to leave at 5 so I'll need to eat quite early so just hoping I don't get too hungry later on.

Dotty342kids · 06/10/2014 15:18

wow itsaboat that's brilliant, well done! You must be really chuffed.
Right, that's it, no second piece of cake for me might have eaten one piece of home made cake for lunch

Just soup and a piece of toast for dinner, then bath and early night! Determind to do a good FD now that you've inspired me smile

Dotty342kids · 06/10/2014 15:19

oops, meant Smile
And have a good time tonight!

bbcessex · 06/10/2014 22:23

woo hoo itsaboat - well done! good going..

I'm having my second weigh in tomorrow.. not so optimistic this time - have had 3 good FDs but a bit of a blow out weekend.

Dotty - let us know what the mystery soup was!

ItsaboatJack · 07/10/2014 07:59

Made it through another FD. I even managed to sit with just my cup of tea while dh and best friend scoffed pizza!

toomuchtooold · 07/10/2014 08:02

Hello, is page 16 too late for a new/old timer to join?

Did 5:2 last year, lost about half a stone, felt very pleased with myself, missed one day (how much is one day going to hurt...), somehow never started again. But I found it the easiest way to lose weight without thinking about it all. the. bloody. time.

Had a bit of a wakeup call when replacing my old jeans and I'm now ready to have another go. Feeling all righteous having just missed breakfast but I will probably want to backslide by lunchtime so here I am nailing my colours to the mast: I'm going to do Tue and Thu, until I am back in my old clothes, and then I am going to do Tue. Right? I am. I am!

ARGHtoAHHH · 07/10/2014 08:56

itsaboat - well done! You must be buzzing. Last week I was 11.12. Can't remember when I weighed myself now so will weigh tonight maybe.

Not feeling well, got a stinking cold. Today is supposed to be my FD. I probably won't feel like eating anyway...

bbcessex · 07/10/2014 08:56

hello toomuchtoold... that's it now - you've posted it on here, you have to do it! look forward to hearing your successes.

I had a weigh in this morning.. stayed the same.. not super-good for the second week, but I'm learning... I had 3 good FDs last week, but a blow-out weekend... clearly my TDEE is pretty low and I need to realise that, which I will.

I'll also ramp up the exercise.

Good look with all those FD'ing.

ARGHtoAHHH · 07/10/2014 09:20

hang on...have I missed something? You do 3 fast days?? Oh dear god!

MelanieCheeks · 07/10/2014 09:40

I'm having another go at a back-to-back 2 days this week. it was relatively easy last time I tried, and it's so nice once you're in the zone just to plough on through and get them done and dusted.

Freezing cold today, I suspect much Bovril will be drunk.
