Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Thanks for the link. They sound yummy.

Good point dotty. I am planning a Fd today. But it wont be a good one Grin. I think i can manage a sort of compromise fast (is there such a thing?) and allow myself white coffee/ tea during the day and a bowl of heinz mulligatawny soup tonight. I dont want to have to abandon this woe because of stress. I know that snacking on a large bar of fruit and nut washed down with chardonnay doesn't help with the stress. But fasting requires a bit of mental application and i am struggling with that atm. But today i will do my best and i will try to avoid wine. I can have wine at the weekend. I can eat well at the weekend. Eating will not make my problems go away and i am looking too fat for my liking Sad

melanie excellent exercising. I bet you feel great.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 12/09/2014 07:34

Yay melanie good for you.

MelanieCheeks · 12/09/2014 07:48

Amanda, the control and mental application side of fasting are so important. Your body can do anything your mind lets it. Mini-fasts or some sort of less-than-usual eating are fine, and good for working on that "control" side.

NFD here, but I'm planning a Hairy Dieters chicken bake for dinner - DH is quite happy to eat that sort of food!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 12/09/2014 08:15

Good point melanie thanks
I do feel good on a fd. I just have to get my head around the distraction element.

Dotty342kids · 12/09/2014 11:24

Woop, well done Melanie
Just found out that not out for dinner MOnday night as thought, just to a friend's house. So will do a proper fast day + one glass of wine Smile

JennyOnTheBlocks · 12/09/2014 12:01

morning (just)

i lost this thread, it fell off my TIO way back in august Sad

just weighed myself after completing my first week back on the 5:2 and i've lost 4 lbs already Grin

i'd forgotten about the disturbed sleep as you settle back into it though, hoping my lack of hormones will help me settle more quickly this time around

Not2bObvious · 13/09/2014 11:17

I'm back, flabbier and a bit disheartened but back in the game. Just did my first jog walk, limp, slouch in nearly 2 weeks. Weetabix with banana & nuts for breakfast, cause it's an nfd, maybe omelette for lunch, that's as far as I can plan. Baby steps. Will weigh in Tiraday to assess damage, oh the shame... Sobs quietly, the amount of wine/chocolate was scary. Need better ways to manage stress and Totm hormones, hope you're all doing great, will be reading all later to get the enthusiasm back

Not2bObvious · 13/09/2014 11:18

tireday?? Tuesday even!!!

Dotty342kids · 15/09/2014 14:23

Morning all! Weekend of food, wine and friends but a (sort of) FD today, then another planned in for Wednesday.
Welcome Jenny Smile

Chocupid · 15/09/2014 14:23

Hi all forgot to weigh on Friday so did it today 9st.9 now so another pound off.
Not sure how that happened I wasn't good last week (exercised but didn't Fast successfully) and had friends over for the weekend so ate and drank lots!

So have to be good this week as I'm sure it will come back on,
How you doing not2b? TOTM is tough Flowers but good for you still coming here and not giving up!

haven't eaten today yet and planning salmon salad for tea.
Anyone joining me fasting today?

Not2bObvious · 15/09/2014 17:28

Very well done Chocupid, another pound is excellent.
I'm attempting a fast and so far, I'm at around 400. Haven't had dinner yet, and I'm really struggling with the temptation to get a take away. I've had such a sh*t day. Arggg, don't know how to fight this Sad

Chocupid · 15/09/2014 19:09

Ooh don't give in not2b think how crappy you'll feel after take away! against how good you'll feel in the morning after a successful fast! Smile

Have soup then a long bath, read, and early night.

Im gonna do the same. Salmon salad here I come.

Dotty342kids · 16/09/2014 12:24

That's really good news chocupid well done!
Did a sort of FD yesterday, another one tomorrow slotted in between endless meals out and socialising this week.

Chocupid · 16/09/2014 13:49

Ooh dotty your week sounds wonderful. Are you trying 3 FDs this week?
I may wait till Thursday.

not2b hope you survived a tough one yesterday.

Im finding it hard to get back into a routine when the sun is shining and it still feels like summer.

Dotty342kids · 17/09/2014 09:23

chocupid, knackering is what this week is, I'm exhausted already Grin
Was meant to do FD on Monday but tiredness drove me to chocolate. Today is a normal FD and might also try to do one on Friday.

Chocupid · 17/09/2014 17:05

Looks like I'm in with you today Dotty

Accidental FD (aren't they the best) as I've been so busy I haven't managed to eat yet so may have another salmon salad, and some fruit after cardio tennis tonight. ??

May try another on Friday, I had better lose this week and not gain last weeks pound again or I'm chucking in the towel!

Anyone else fasting? It's quiet on here this week... Is there a national holiday that I don't know about!! Confused

Chocupid · 17/09/2014 17:07

Oops sorry bout the squares dunno where they came from!

Not2bObvious · 17/09/2014 19:30

Hi all. Well I have an epic fail on Monday, couldn't resist the lure of a takeaway followed by chocolate. But I'm getting slowly back on track, 2 x 16:8's that have been close enough to mini fasts that I'm happy. My scales isn't looking great, I'm back over the 12 stone after getting down to 11.9'ish, I'll be doing another. 16:8 tomorrow. Let's keep it going gals!

Chocupid · 17/09/2014 21:09

Fab not2b glad your still in the game and sound more positive... can work down slowly with the calories! Grin

Chocupid · 18/09/2014 12:16

NFD here for me, think I've overdone it the last few days and not eaten enough... I have a tendency to be a bit all or nothing me!

I did my first spin class this morning and felt quite faint (or is this normal)
So came home and devoured a bacon butty! Grin

Just realised it's probably time to re do the measure stats again as it was 22nd of July when I posted, so will do that again tomorow, can't believe its Friday again so soon Shock anyone else up for that?

No one got any inspiration to post? It's lonely here at the mo...

Dotty342kids · 18/09/2014 18:42

I'm still here but have nothing inspiring to contribute I'm afraid!
FD here today, if you don't count the breadstick and hummus and pack of fruit pastilles I wolfed at lunchtime Grin. Salmon / chickpea / spinach thing for dinner in the next hour thank goodness. And I'm justifying the fruit pastilles with the manic 45min dance class I did this morning!

Hope you get on well with your stat measurement chocupid - I look forward to being inspired tomorrow Smile

Not2bObvious · 18/09/2014 21:02

I can't be inspirational, I'm more of a cautionary tale Grin Happy to feel back on track though. Hoping to undo the damage in the next 2 weeks. Be great to hear how the rest of you are getting on progress'wise.

buffersandbumpers · 19/09/2014 07:35

Aaaaggghhhh! I was doing so well on my FD yesterday until I made the children's supper and helped myself to two fish fingers and a few chips. So today I weighed myself and I'm slightly heavier than I was this time last week. Will try a mini-fast today to try and put things right. I blame the children for sabotaging my efforts. All their bloody fault. Clearly.

Breadandwine · 19/09/2014 11:22

This WOL is all about control!

We can't always control our jobs, our families, other people. But we can control what we put into our mouths, our weight, and ultimately our lives.

Remember two things:
You are not a bin; and,
You CAN have it tomorrow!

ATB, guys - you can do this!

MelanieCheeks · 19/09/2014 15:01

So proud of myself for the control thing last night:

I had planned to have an options hot chocolate, a diet ginger beer (I only drink that fizzy stuff on FDs) and a sherbet ice lolly. But after my dinner I felt really bloated (possibly those slim noodles?). So I didn't want anything bubbly, or sugary. Just told myself "the kitchen is closed" and had a ginger herbal tea.

136 this morning which is bang on a bmi of 25.
