Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Morning all and hello to the new folk joining us too Smile

Another weekend of too much eating (it was our anniversary!) and then home baking yesterday which resulted in the eating of three, yes three choc toffee muffins last night. Gawd!
FD today and have got chilli squash soup out of the freezer for my tea. Evenings, when DH is away (usually 2-3 a week) really are my downfall. I need to get back to telling myself that I'm only allowed treats on a Friday, rather than every single NFD. And tracking on MFP as well, that really helps with the "mindless eating" I find.

MelanieCheeks · 08/09/2014 09:55

I need to recomit and get back into a nice regular routine.

I shall go for a walk at lunchtime, and I have running training this evening. Dinner will either be a jar of Asian salad with some crab sticks, or some tofu shiritaki noodles str fried with green veg.

I'm aiming for 130 pounds, had got down as low as 132, but this morning I was horrified to have gone back up to 139! But.....I know this works.

Dotty342kids · 08/09/2014 11:52

It's like any way of eating really, it works as long as you play by the rules! If you eat a gazillion calories on NFDs, or have evening snacking binges, then clearly it doesn't.
I am still waiting for the "eat what you like, when you like, including the contents of a Cadburys Factory, and STILL lose weight" diet Grin

Not2bObvious · 08/09/2014 15:21

Sorry guys, am a disaster area Sad Totm approaching and I just can't do it without some comfort, weeping with hormones and feelings of self loathing after inhaling chocolate biscuit cake. I think I can stay with tdee but that will be a major feat if I manage it. I'm defo suceeding on the tight clothes, if your jeans are crying AmandaClarke, my trousers must be suicidal, in a heap here. Sniffle, whine & whingeSad
Well done the rest of you! Keep up the good fight

Dotty342kids · 08/09/2014 15:54

not2, oh, it's a grotty couple of days but think how much better you'll be able to feel about yourself if you stick to TDEE! Then you'll have no bloat or guilt to contend with and can congratulate yourself on getting through it.
I'm feeling good about today, dinner's all sorted and I am NOT, repeat, NOT, going to snack after it Grin

FolkGirl · 08/09/2014 17:04

Ah towards the end of FD1 and I'm feeling great.

I wasn't even tempted by the flapjacks at work...

I've got about 150 calories left for something later, but I've had 2 cups of tea; a green salad with mozzarella and sunsoaked tomatoes; and a bowl of strawberries, blueberries and raspberries with Greek yoghurt and a teaspoon of honey for tea. Lovely. I know I will want something later, so I've left enough for a glass of wine banana.

I found that when I did it before, after the first week I had no trouble sticking to FDs. My biggest problem was eating on my NFDs. I just lost my appetite and food became less of a focus. I think about food all the time...

FolkGirl · 08/09/2014 17:06

Not2b TOTM is the worst. I just crave heavy carbs. Sad

TheRealAmandaClarke · 08/09/2014 17:27

Well done folkgirl
I have found todays fd ok. Its been quite a stressful day at work, which is a challenge for snacking, so i am pleased. Now i face the temptation of spag bol but I have high hopes for being able to resist. I will have some salad and eat well tomorrow Grin

not2 be kind to yourself. Totm is a tough time for sugar cravings. You will still lose weight even with a few chocolate days.
Good goingdotty ill join you in that mantra. No snacking!

Chocupid · 08/09/2014 19:44

Come on not2b stick with TDEE and you can fast tomorrow instead when your feeling more in control, so all is not lost. Flowers

TheRealAmandaClarke · 08/09/2014 19:54

And i felt much worse during totm. Everything seems brighter now til next month

TheRealAmandaClarke · 09/09/2014 06:55

I just wanted to share with you how great i feel after yesterday's fast. Incase its motivational or something.
Its like the opposite of a hangover.
NFD today. Just had a glass of water. Now having oats with raisins, linseed and banana. NO SNACKING! No mindless eating. No alcohol.

Chocupid · 09/09/2014 08:02

Well done Real it's a fab feeling isn't it!

I managed to stay within TDEE fast was too hard yesterday with a hangover, so I'm fasting today instead!
Anyone else fasting? not2b hope your feeling better today feeling up to joining me? we can still get our 2 in this week if we do today and Thursday!

MelanieCheeks · 09/09/2014 10:05

Got through Monday under 500, and with a 975 calorie burn to boot!

I have running training on a Monday night, and thought to myself, Oh it's only a mile there, I'll tag on a jog there and back.

That was tough on a FD - I could almost feel my system hunting around for carbs to use, finding none and having to switch to alternative sources of energy, which is the whole crux of "fasted cardio".

Dinner was super quick - a jar of Vitasia Thai salad from Lidl, with 3 crab stick chopped into cubes.

Down half a pound on the scales this morning, which is always a bonus.

Dotty342kids · 09/09/2014 11:44

Aw, well done Real and Melanie, lovely to hear those successes. I won't tell you what went on after my FD dinner of squash soup and a bread roll but it involved crisps and a cornetto. AAARGH

Anyway, NFD today and it's soup and roll for lunch, then meatballs, pasta and broccoli for dinner so should be inside TDEE.

PiesnThighs · 09/09/2014 19:48

Hi all, well done to those of you losing lbs at the moment!

I had a really bad cold last week and then a very sociable weekend, so no FDs at all and 1lb on.... Feeling better this week though so did a FD today (high five, Choc!) and will fast again on Thursday.

Have a good week, everyone Smile

TheRealAmandaClarke · 09/09/2014 20:06

Well done melanie. Thats a great result.
Great work fasting today chocupid and pisenthighs
dotty its excellent that you stuck to TDEE. I am rubbish at that. NFD for me today. Meals not bad but i caved at work and ate four biscuits and five squares of turkish delight Blush
Still. No after dinner snacking and no wine. So quite pleased. Im fasting tomorrow. Anyone else?
Must do some exercise but literally no time whatsoever. Sad

TheRealAmandaClarke · 10/09/2014 07:14

Fasting today. Difficult day at work
Planning on soup and apple around lunchtime and same for supper

MelanieCheeks · 10/09/2014 07:58

Homemade soups can be very creative - and some ready made ones are lovely too. Choose right and you can have a whole can and saty under calories!

I'm planning tomorrow nights fast dinner - tofu shiritake noodles from the Asian grocery are 20 cals per 100g, and a tin of crab meat is 60. I'm going to add some chilli and some stir fry veggies.

Chocupid · 11/09/2014 07:53

Morning all, haven't managed a successful FD yet this week...
It's TOTM plus I'm on antibiotics For a bad water infection so feel pretty bloated and crappy!

Will try but won't promise one today as I'd like to get one in to halt the inevitable weight gain, but tbh I feel like having a pity party with a box of chocolates! Sad

On a positive note... Exercise is still on track, I've done metafit, kettles, body tone and cardio tennis hope to get another metafit and body pump class in before Sunday!
Oh if only weight loss was thru exercise Grin

Hope your all motivated more than me today, good luck fasters.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 11/09/2014 08:20

Well done on the exercise. I have done none.
Utterly awful day at work. Didnt eat during the day but stress ate last night with assorted carbs Blush
But. No alcohol.
Not sure when to try another fast tbh.

MelanieCheeks · 11/09/2014 08:38

I had a full on exercsie day yesterday - a 2 hour hilly walk with the dogs (which burned a measly 500 calories), then cycled to my running training session where we did intensive hill traiining. The cycle ride is about a mile and a half, and MapMyRun says each leg burned around 50 cals. You can see how hard it is to lose with just exercise alone!

Chocupid · 11/09/2014 09:35

I know... If only we were all as focused with food eh!

Dotty342kids · 11/09/2014 12:04

Sorry to hear you've been so under the weather chocupid, no wonder you're after a pity party Smile But amazing to have done those exercise classes whilst coping with a water infection - that's serious dedication!

Amanda, try to plan in another FD if you can. I've got a really tricky few days coming up, with friends here all weekend, then meals out on both Monday and Tuesday nights. Am going to try for mini fasts on Mon and Tues and just eat the evening meals, then have a normal FD on Thurs of next week.

FD here today though Grin

Melanie that is amazing amounts of exercise, I am in awe!

MelanieCheeks · 11/09/2014 20:15

chilli crab noodles

I'll put the link on the recipe thread as well.

MelanieCheeks · 12/09/2014 07:30

136.4 this morning! Now, I know I haven't lost a "true" 3 pounds in a week - Monday's weigh in was pretty water retnetion heavy after a lot of Chinese food, and this morning's was the low low post 2nd fast day weight. But it is sooooo nice when the scale co-operates with one's efforts Smile

Onwards and downwards!
