Laska42 · 21/07/2014 18:14

Hi there, Im one of the 'old original' 5:2ers who started way back in August 2012 and lost 24lbs..

I maintained for over a year and was active on the Maintainers thread , but sadly since last summer/Autumn, ive backslid.. Now I'm 12lbs up off my lowest weight again Sad

I know what to do , I know it works , but I can hardly say I should be on the 'maintainers' again. So im posting a new thread here , in the hope that I may find some other backsliders willing to recommit along with me before it's too late ..

Come and join me again before its too late.. We can regroup and get back on track.. I'm still managing to squeeze into my sz 10s (mostly) but I cant afford a new wardrobe, I dont want to buy a larger one.. and I certainly do want to get back to what I was (and maybe finish the job properly with another half stone off , so I can rejoin the Maintainers and comfortably say that this WOE is really this time going to stay with me for life..

So anyone with me? .. I have fasted today (first one for ages) .. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!

Sorry to post & run, having a shocking few days, off the chart with food - not sure how I lost my mojoSad I won't fast tomorrow as I have a night out, darnit, what's going on...as she stuffs chocolate in her gobConfused

buffersandbumpers · 03/09/2014 22:12

Thanks for the welcome Dotty!
Second FD tomorrow. Head in right place tonight. Just need to avoid temptation when making the children's food. That's always my downfall.

Chocupid · 04/09/2014 08:53

Come on not2b have a mini Fast today and get back on it next week... You don't want sabotage and undo all your hard work, think how bad you'll feel if you put all that weight back on!
Have a nice night out.

Good luck all fasters!

Dotty342kids · 04/09/2014 09:09

C'mon not2obvious, pull it back! Can you do a Friday fast instead? I know Fridays are normally a kick back and relax kind of day but reckon you'll enjoy the weekend more if you've managed a FD Smile

buffers I find that hard too but generally start prepping our dinner whilst they're eating theirs to distract me from any leftovers.

Laska42 · 04/09/2014 20:50

I didnt make a another fast today either, and am going away for long weekend tomorrow where there will be lots of eating and drinking .. Am going to try and do a mini fast tomorrow though and not eat until the evening .. Fingers crossed.

good luck everyone for tomorrows WI (i was still the same this morning , so not that good) , ill not be posting again until monday probably ..

Did a 'sort of fast'. Are nothing all day and had an average portion of homemade chicken pie (mash on top not pastry) which was made with lots of veg. My downfall was tucking into the choc mousse that my son didn't eat once it was opened but it was only 100cal so I'm hoping I wasn't too far over. Weigh in tomorrow... Fingers crossed.

buffersandbumpers · 05/09/2014 11:09

Lost 1kg in a week Smile

Dotty342kids · 05/09/2014 13:07

ooh that's good, well done buffers
I completely forgot to weigh in this morning and as we're off out for dinner tonight it'll have to wait until next week now, when fasts are planned in for Mon and Thurs
How'd everyone else do with their weigh in this morning?

Chocupid · 05/09/2014 16:27

Oh well done buffers that's fab,
I didn't manage a FD Thursday so I too forgot to weigh in this morning...
just done now and have stayed the same this week, Sad
hope for better next week.

Have a nice weekend Laska
Dotty enjoy your dinner out, am working late so very envious.

It's a food and drink festival where I am this weekend so will probably indulge (especially as I've lost nothing) and get back to it next week.

Enjoy your weekend everyone, see you here Monday for FD check in!

Not2bObvious · 05/09/2014 16:46

Well done Buffers! That's excellent.
Thanks guys for the encouragement guys, today is a disaster I'm sorry to say, too hungover to not eatSad But I promise I'll be a better 5:2'er from tomorrowWink Really enjoyed the night out, but boy oh boy am I paying for it now.
Bet I've done a few pounds damage so I'm going nowhere near a scales til next Friday! Going to collapse into a corner, my head......

FolkGirl · 06/09/2014 05:29

Do you mind if I join you?

I wasn't on any of the previous threads (I might have tried once or twice...) but I did lose 24lb with this WOE a couple of years ago.

I found it really easy to do and stick to and the weight came of easily. Even when I stopped doing it, I maintained. I've put about 7lb on recently because I've been eating like a pig Sad

I'm going to weigh and measure myself when it's a more suitable hour and publicly shame myself by posting the results.

When I stopped doing it, I, ideally, had another half stone to lose. So I think I might be looking at losing a stone.

I know I can do it, I just need a bit of motivation.

Not2bObvious · 06/09/2014 18:19

Very welcome FolkGirl, you've come to the right place. I was really back on track but then got a bit derailed but having a good non greedy day today. Join in for a fast on Monday! You'll drop the half stone no botherWink
Just about to make the hairy bikers stroganoff, with an addition of a smidge of red wine & some paprika, let's see how it goes. Blooming starving.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 06/09/2014 19:36

Hi. What a great thread.
Me too me too please!
I had it licked ffs. All my baby wieght gone, size 10 jeans nice and loose, easy peasy. I was evangelical about 5:2. It was so easy!
Then. Well, i slid, and failed at the fasts becasue of being too tired with kids and work bla bla bla. Comfort eating i guess. Those jeans are too tight and im pissed off.
Madness. I feel appalled that i threw away something that was so great. Its like being married to Laurence Fox and cheating on him! The shame!
I am so keen to get back on board.
So. FD monday. FD wednesday. No alcohol in the week. No effing comfort snacking.
I find it easier to fast when i am at work becasue im not preparing food for the kids through the day.
Love reading your success stories. Its really motivating.

How do you stop the comfort/ mindless eating?

FolkGirl · 06/09/2014 19:48

Thanks for the welcome Not2

Well I weighed myself. I might be 10st 13 which means I've put that half a stone on and then some! Oh well... after that, I wasn't brave enough to take measurements [ blush] maybe tomorrow...

FolkGirl · 06/09/2014 19:50

Oh and FDs on Mon and Wed suit me perfectly.

Can't wait!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 06/09/2014 19:57

Yay. Monday and wednesday for me too.

Not2bObvious · 06/09/2014 22:06

Lol at the being married to dishy bloke and cheating TheReal - sorry for the abbreviation. Hmm, when I figure out how to stop the comfort/mindless eating, I'll share I promise. The only thing I've found that curbs me is just waiting, and telling myself no, I've had enough. If I'm lucky the craving passes. Or notBlush My downfall this week was I had lots of wine outside of my strict recommital to 5:2, which had been no alcohol Monday-Thursday, and then on Friday-Saturday only drinking 2-3 glasses, Sunday 1-2 (I think I might be a lushConfused)
I might join you both for Monday and Wednesday, instead of my usual Monday/Thursday.

FolkGirl · 07/09/2014 06:41

Right.

Just done measurements. Oh the shame!!

I'm not prepared to reveal those. I shall share any reductions though.

I'm going to hide somewhere and cry for a while!!

FolkGirl · 07/09/2014 06:41

Not really going to cry. Was said with a Grin

TheRealAmandaClarke · 07/09/2014 07:48

folkgirl Grin my jeans are actually crying.

Not2Obvious. Yes, lets motivate each other. Monday and thursday are good for spacing iyswim. But i choose mon and wed because i don't usually work on a thursday and i find it tougher to ft when i have to make food constantly for the Dcs. The distraction at work helps a little. There is no such "distraction" with small DCs imho.

buffersandbumpers · 07/09/2014 09:26

AmandaClark that is my biggest challenge too. Now I'm a SAHM I really struggle as I'm in the kitchen so much. I find I just have to tell myself (constantly) that it's ok, I can have it tomorrow. And I saved the ironing up for my FD last week to keep me busy. Bloody hell, that sounds so sad doesn't it...!

TheRealAmandaClarke · 07/09/2014 20:10

No. Not sad. Just realistic. Grin

Quite looking forward to fd tomorrow.
I really need to do this.

Laska42 · 07/09/2014 21:03

just checking in, back from weekend away. My skinny friend (who has lost over 5 stone, was just as skinny (and in fact said at one point that she had gone back up to 9st 5 and so wanted to "get back to what she was" (she wasnt being bitchy , but i did feel bad having put a stone back on from my lowest weight on 5:2) And she even gave me a pair of lovely Jigsaw trousers that are now too big for her!! (oh the shame.. she used to be my 'fat friend')..

But i have to l keep reminding myself that I too have lost over 3.5 stone (even though i had lost over 4 at one time) so all is not lost..

Well this weekend has been an eat and drink fest with TWO curries consumed , plus pastrami and swiss cheese on toasted rye and plenty Wine! .. but I am fasting tomorrow (and should for the rest of the month!).. This cannot carry on..

chocupid without wanting to out you, the seaside city in Sussex I was at this morning walking along the prom .. had a food and drink festival..Was it the same one perchance? It did look -and smell- good ! (but I refrained from going over ).

Welcome folkgirl and therealamanda*. We will be thin again!

OP posts:
FolkGirl · 08/09/2014 06:46

Thank you Laska

FD1 has started well - just a glass of water and I've made my lunch for work.

Shall see how it goes...

Chocupid · 08/09/2014 08:52

Ooh hello and welcome folk and real good for you for getting back to it!

We are too hard on ourselves really, we should be proud we have stopped the backslide before we gained anymore.

I'm fasting today I hope... Very hung over tho from food festival this weekend (and I keep saying to people... I don't really drink you know!)
No not the same one Laska I'm in cheshire.
And I have to go do metafit and kettles now, god I'm feeling sick at the thought of it!

And mindless eating is my prob too, I'm all or nothing me Grin
I once heard Paul McKenna say fat people think about food all the time EXCEPT when they're eating!

So as not2b says on with the skinny clothes and head into FD.
Good luck all
