DC 17 is in 6th season with NYMT. Also former BYMTer.

These annual threads have been a source of advice, emotional support and camaraderie for those of us with young performers enjoying everything that these awesome organisations bring.

Hi! Just found this thread after nervously waiting for DD's first audition outcome as musician for NYMT. She has been offered violin 1 in Carousel! Anyone know of a Snapchat group for the show yet?

@doesanybodyhaveamap unfortunately not, as Carousel and Stagshaw Fayre are on at the same time.

Well done to your DC @QualityStreet5678 and @Sop2 - there have been facebook groups etc in the past, so I am sure something will be set up soon.

Congratulations to all the musicians with offeres, and extra biscuits for those that didn't get the news they had hoped for this time.

Also amazing news from @Mumster40! What an unexpected but fab surprise. Was your DD's original casting workshop for Fame or has this come as a total shock? Just goes to show how close decisions can be sometimes (and how quickly things can turn around!)

Thanks @MxPickles! DC was recalled for Fame and LB. Cast in Carmilla. It came as a complete shock but DC is thrilled!

Ah that is so exciting! My DD read for LB and cast in Flip. It really does underline just HOW CLOSE these castings must be sometimes. Great result for her x

I’m pretty certain that there is one, but I’m not sure how to pass on details at the moment! My DS has a few friends in Carousel. As soon as DMs are back up I can pass details on if that helps

@Sop2 my DC has heard of 3 other violins on Carousel today and they are all lovely! Your DD will have a wonderful time!!

Mine is still completely buzzing today as they're finding out news from musician friends as to who's on what show. And is delighted to have some of their faves on Fame too. So much excitement ahead... 🥰

That's so lovely @doesanybodyhaveamap, DD doesn't know any of the musicians on Carousel as this will be her first year taking part but can't wait to see the music and meet everyone. @Sop2 and @Operasingerkath if you do hear of any snapchat/ whatsapp groups etc could you please let me know so that I can pass it on to her.

I'm not sure about questions but I know mine was asked to do their monologue and then asked to do it again in different styles - I think asked to do it as though they were a policeman, and then asked to do it as though they were a stand up comedian (it was a serious monologue!). A friend's kid was asked to do theirs as though they were a librarian.
Then they had time for them to do the second piece which if memory serves me right, they had picked a song.
