Starting a new thread as we filled up the old one!

DC 17 is in 6th season with NYMT. Also former BYMTer.

These annual threads have been a source of advice, emotional support and camaraderie for those of us with young performers enjoying everything that these awesome organisations bring.

So grateful for people on here! The advice for our first year last year was fantastic along with folk who have navigated this for years! So helpful to a newbie! DD loved Cat B!!! I am pleased to see she is with a couple of Cat B’ers in Tuck!

I am looking forward to the Facebook group for them! Any other Tuck members here?

Thanks for setting this up @Comefromaway although I feel a bit of imposter syndrome without a DC in a show this year. Thankfully DD is putting a brave face on it and excited to go see her friends this year!!!

@LibbyRuncie my DD was in Cat Bay last year, your little one was outstanding ❤️ well done to her on Tuck! We are definitely going to try and see this!

Thanks so much @doesanybodyhaveamap! I’m very grateful for this thread too. I am a terrible overthinker and it’s really helped having other more experienced people to ask about my questions rather than be worrying on my own or having to bother NYMT. DS (almost 18) is so grateful for the opportunities he’s had so far. We don’t come from a family with a lot of spare cash or live anywhere near London, and it’s been tough to provide him with the classes and experiences he needs to try to make his way in this extremely challenging industry. He is really excited to be involved in Fame and to learn from some amazing creatives and fellow cast members. He has made fantastic friends over the last 2 years and is looking forward to making more this year.

Definitely, especially if you’re at Sevenoaks, don’t forget your TOWEL - a previous director always referred to it in capital letters 😂. I think my DS said they were provided at Canterbury though

Canterbury looks so posh! My dd has been googling the rooms and already hoping for one with a roof ceiling. She's also very interested in what the food will be like... priorities 🤣

We are at Canterbury for Flip. Obv my DC dazzled so much in her LB audition that the panel felt even tho this was not her year for a show her efforts did at least warrant a towel.

I’ve just asked DS for the email so I can see the details. Looks like 2 different rehearsal locations for Carousel.
Do we know where they’re actually performing?

DD18 not doing NYMT this year as hoping to do Med next year so her head is in the books! She was in Cat Bay last year

DD 15 unfortunately didn’t work out for her this year but DS 13 is doing a workshop so a different year for us for sure!! But still excited to see some of the shows hopefully ❤️

Yes - thank you @doesanybodyhaveamap this thread has been so helpful for my DS - new to NYMT. First year and offered ensemble in Carousel - so excited. Nervous about him being away, and how many towels and snacks?! Any support appreciated.

Ahh just imagine the revenue streams that could have produced tho....

From what my DS said, the food was nicer in Canterbury than Sevenoaks. The accommodation was more comfortable for him in Canterbury too - as I’ve said before, he’s very tall, and the beds were too short in Sevenoaks and he couldn’t stand up under the shower 😂
