NYMT/BYMT 2025 (Act Two)

Starting a new thread as we filled up the old one!

DC 17 is in 6th season with NYMT. Also former BYMTer.

These annual threads have been a source of advice, emotional support and camaraderie for those of us with young performers enjoying everything that these awesome organisations bring.

Do you mean for shows? I think it's unlikely many people will decline places in shows, and if they do, the creative team will discuss who to approach in their place according to suitability rather than just looking at the next person on the list. Ditto for workshops. But a few individuals might get good news as people accept or decline.

@Madhouse2025 I do know a couple of people who can't do their new musical workshop so you never know!
But agree that it's unlikely to be offered a show spot sadly.....!

We have our invoice now so guessing not! Advanced workshop residential invoice that is! So everyone else should have theirs soon I guess too 😀

Asking because our offer email was to joing the NYMT 2025 company which sort of suggested possible other opportunities throughout the year.

Re: changing projects. It does happen but obvious it's rare. I know of someone who got a new musical workshop and was subsequently offered Crescendo. But not heard of any to the full musical shows. I also know someone who turned down their offer of a new musical workshop based on timings and has been given an offer for a different one.

Previous years my kid has actually been given a NM workshop then asked to join a show on two occasions! But one didn't happen at all (2020!) and the other was (I later discovered) a reason more specific to my kid and not because someone declined/dropped out so a one off. I still remember Jeremy's lovely emails - much missed x

I've known instrumentalists be asked to swop shows but that was usually because it became apparent that a particular skill set was more suited for a particular show.

Occasionally they will widen the search for a very specific role (eg Hunchback a few years back)
