Starting off a new thread for 2025 now that both organisations have opened applications for next season!

Oh fab! But then the recalls will all get called for the same date? So if your child and mine were both recalled it would be in feb?

Yes, all recalls over the same 4 dates in Feb, regardless of when they audition. 😁

Oh I didn’t realise we would hear this week if they auditioned at the weekend? I thought it would be after all the auditions were done.

@doesanybodyhaveamap what are the dates? Is it the same for NYMT and BYMT?

@Truetoself recalls are 4 days in February half term in London - 15th to 18th.

Can't help with BYMT I'm afraid- we did it once but their process just doesn't work for us. Too long and too much uncertainty for me and DC.

@doesanybodyhaveamap i meant when do you hear if you have a recall? Does everyone hear on the same day?

BYMT is a bit different, no recalls - they seem to let people know whether or not they have a place in batches as they confirm plans for shows. But you can be waiting a very long time for news.

That's why it doesn't work for us!

NYMT fix their season in advance and are auditioning to fill specific roles so it's all a bit more predictable in terms of the process and timeline.

Last year BYMT were much quicker - my DD received her offer in the third week of February.

DS auditioned on Sunday; he said they were told they'd hear by Thursday. The waiting never gets easier!

@sleepisoverrated1 so by that logic we could hear any time! (We were Saturday).

Also refreshing on drama school applications. Going through a lot of biscuits.

That's good. I think the issue is that people tend to hear in dribs and drabs, so you might get lucky and get a concrete outcome (with dates if positive) in Feb, or you might hear a bit later, or you might wait a long time for news, or you might be told you're on a reserve list which can then make the process even more protracted. After NYMT recalls in Feb half term at least everyone should hear within about a week and then you know where you stand with regard to dates.

You should definitely hear by the end of this week. Which is nice because you'll then know if you need to keep the Feb dates clear or not.

I agree, the reserve waiting is long for BYMT @Biscuitsneeded. DD has decided to add NYT and a musician audtion for NYMT to the acting audition mix this year too, so looking forward to a crazy few weekends ahead.

In for a penny, in for a pound! At least it means there's a very decent chance your DD will be doing something exciting this summer!

@Biscuitsneeded He loved the day and was happy with his performance on the whole. Like you say though, you never can tell!

Yes, ds was messed around a bit last year by BYMT. After 2 years with NYMT he was approached by BYMT for a potential paid role He was kept waiting around and in the end it came to nothing.

Goodness knows @Biscuitsneeded. She already has a youth opera in late July that we need to plan around so we will have to see what happens. She is very keen on music and drama and the same as for most of our DC I should think, there are not enough days in the year to squeeze it all in.

@doesanybodyhaveamap she is auditioning on cello and clarinet.
