Starting off a new thread for 2025 now that both organisations have opened applications for next season!

@Livingtheirauthenticlife I believe that it's done by show. So all of Fame will come together, then all of Carousel etc. @Biscuitsneeded will know more than me!

They used to send the nos first but now that everyone will be offered something - a course, a new musical workshop or a show - things may have changed. I feel for you all - I know how hard it is waiting and how difficult it is to concentrate on boring things like work!

But that was when they used to have one workshop, not 9 or whatever it is now...

Judging by Kate's Insta (which NYMT have shared) there has had to be rework done after casting. Hopefully it will be tomorrow but it'll depend on the creatives being able to communicate to recast those parts. I suggest a hard Paddington stare at all those people who caused the issue (unless they had good reason, in which case we will lob them a biscuit - but not one of the chocolate ones...)

I think the BYMT offers coming out the first day of the NYMT recalls will have had a significant knock on for availability. The timing was not a coinicience.

Given we know they are having to do some last- minute shuffling, at least you can probably all stand down on any refreshing of emails until much later today! Go to work, eat lots of biscuits, and open the wine when you get home- my money is on them starting this evening.

Understood that things change between initial applicaiton and casting but if you booked a holiday that took you out of the running for the show you were called back for surely you would think to mention it before getting in the room? If your're not available for the show you're not available right, so just say so! What are you going to lose by sharing your availablity if you can't do the show anyway?!?!

Also if you are hoping to be considered for another show instead then surely its to your advantage to put that out there before you share your work.

I dunno, overthinker anonymous over here is probably reading too much in to this... and its not even 9am yet 😂

It could be that some people were not aware of the newly introduced May half term/ October dates.....? That will impact a few of the workshops.....People perhaps just assumed it would be the usual Easter/ Summer dates.

Yes, but by the very fact you are on this thread, you are probably all supportive and involved mums who would be prepared to wait and plan any holidays etc around your DC's performing plans. And possibly your DC are still young enough that they don't make plans or apply for NYMT independently. The older kids may well have just said 'mum can I have £45 for an audition for NYMT' and 'can I put your email address down as back-up', and they may have said 'that's nice dear' and assumed the DC would read all the emails and communicate. Then since the weekend DC has said 'oh I might be in a show this summer' and they'vw woken up to the fact the dates clash with a family holiday. I'm a secondary teacher helping out on a show at school. We sent a parentmail asking everyone to provide a basic costume which we would add to, by a certain date. Nearly all the Year 7s and 8s brought something in, because parents still read emails and help a bit. Above Year 9, including the leads from y10 and 11, it was much, much flakier. Parents hope their kids are organised, and post-Covid they just aren't.

So for what it's worth - while I agree with all points above, there is one possible benefit of the drop out rates - more chance of getting a part for our DC's! Let them drop out! Shame it puts a few more hours of anxiety in our way. A big yes to biscuits and wine in the meantime...

BYMT set a deadline of 28th Feb to respond. I’d agree with others they’re clearly trying to compete harder for the performers they want. Shame it causes everyone so much angst..! 😂

it's a no for us. DS (14, y9) auditioned for Crescendo and has been offered a pick of skills courses. Luckily (as it turns out) as he can't attend the Easter dates for Crescendo anyway! (we did put this down on the original application). Good Luck to everyone :)

Skills course for NYMT. There are residential options, so that’s good.
Second stage casting (waiting list) for BYMT.

We just got skills course not advanced skills so I’m guessing there are different levels.

Hope all DC are holding up well. Mine is filling her online shein basket with hundreds of £££ of rubbish to distract herself.....

Mmmm not necessarily... I think they may be going by show? I'm thinking perhaps this is the crescendo emails?!?! Not sure, just another example of my overthinking at its finest.

Hope your DD is OK, sometimes I am amazed at how resiliant our young people can be whereas I am a complete wreck.
