Starting off a new thread for 2025 now that both organisations have opened applications for next season!

Has anyone heard of anyone getting a no thank you email from BYMT at all? Only because it seems like all the show offers have gone out but we’ve heard absolutely nothing. Assuming it’s a no, but don’t see why they can’t send the no thank you emails at the same time as yes emails.

I don't know much about BYMT but in previous years their results seemed to come out in waves, so maybe your DD has been allocated to a show that hasn't been announced yet? There is a DC on this thread who has been put into the next casting round (which I assume works like a waiting list), but I haven't heard of any outright nos. Maybe everybody stays in the casting process until all rounds are completed? Frustrating not knowing what's going on, though. Maybe see what tomorrow brings from NYMT? If it's something your DD is happy to do, problem solved. If it's not, you can maybe follow up with BYMT...

@TheOliveSwan i think maybe because they are on a waiting list in case the initial round of iffers are not taken up?

Ok…so tomorrow…. Are we likely to find out in the day or evening? Managing my own expectations 😂

Do you all read the email and then pass on the info to the dc? Or let them read it 😱

I’ve always opened them and then passed my phone to dd to read after if it’s good news and let them down gently if it’s bad…

but wondering if I should let her read it first 😬

How old is she? If you think it's better coming from you, and she's little, then maybe read it first, but to be honest I always used to call DS to read it with me even when the email went to me. It's their news. We are 'just' the taxi, bank account and moral support providers!

She’s 13. But I think you’re right. I’m not sure how I’ll manage to hold off if it comes through whilst she’s out though 😨 she’s out 2-9 tomorrow 😂

Will she have a phone on her? Why don't you ask her whether she would prefer you to open the email if it comes, and decide whether to fwd the news or keep it for when she's home, or whether she'd rather wait till she's home and open it together?

@Biscuitsneeded @Truetoself thanks both. We were told we would hear either way by 28th so still a bit early to be chasing, but it seems a bit cruel for them to be posting about people’s show offers on their socials when they haven’t told the no people that yet. Do you know what I mean? I don’t know if she’s still in the running at all, but if they’ve sent offers and second stage casting emails then all that’s left to send is the nos.
Not expecting anything very exciting from either BYMT or NYMT for various reasons but she’s had a great time at the auditions anyway.

@ZooKeeper123 it’s usually bad news that we get over email 😅 so I usually try and absorb all the stress of that for her and then I just casually drop it into conversation at some point without making a big deal out of it. She’s busy with a show this week so she won’t be thinking about it really or asking me every 5 minutes. And I encourage her to just audition and then forget about it for whatever she does.

Will the emails go into junk? I know what you mean, as it's nice if everyone hears at the same time. Not sure if there is another discussion thread somewhere for BYMT?

@TheOliveSwan re BYMT. My DC auditioned last year. We received an email saying that we hadn’t got through first stage casting but had been put through to second stage casting. The email went out at the same time as the acceptance emails and the ‘no thanks’ emails. This went on for months with third and forth round casting. We never actually received a ‘no’…… It was pretty awful to be honest. Not something I would ever do again. I would email and ask if I were you. Things do seem to change every year so I’m definitely not an expert. This was just our experience.

Re: Third Door Opener. My kiddo was a member of an "elite" MT training company for a number of years, and was made to stand in the back and mime so many times that we started to joke we should list "Child in Fog" in her Spotlight credits 😂 IYKYK

Hey knowledgable/experieced NYMT people - biscuits being consumed and may have to dig out wine soon. Quick question: is there any particular order that emails are sent with news re:yes/no’s. For example, no’s first?

@Livingtheirauthenticlife I believe that it's done by show. So all of Fame will come together, then all of Carousel etc. @Biscuitsneeded will know more than me!
