Continuation of the NYMT/BYMT 2021 thread because the other one got full!!!

I had the BYMT marketing email too- ds and dd wondering whether to audition. Dd never auditioned for NYMT or BYMT before but her summer residential has just been cancelled for second year running.

Ds took his lack of place on NYMT well especially considering how excited he was to get in last year. Not sure if it’s worth the stress of another waiting game!!

Any others considering a late entry 😂

Hi all, after a very long wait, DD has been offered Nightshade. Is anyone else's DC in this one? Apparently there has been a cockup. DD had a very high score but for some reason fell through the net. If I hadn't phoned they probably would have forgotten all about her. It makes me wander what she might have been offered if this hadn't happened.

Really hacked off that they’ve said dd is on reserve list (bymt) but are adding a whole load more audition dates...seems extremely unfair to reserves!

It’s really very mean of them! But pretty sure that calling them up to say that will be counterproductive

Absolutely. And although the performer 'no's' stung a bit at the time, when we set out at the beginning of the year, I asked her what her Number 1 outcome would be and she thought long and hard before saying "musician in Hunchback". Can't ask for more for them really, can you?

Regardless of the outcome I’m going to try and book tickets for Hunchback. It’s such a glorious score.

@Janet25 we've only heard hunchback news so far I think? I have a number of friends with very accomplished young musicians (including some who have been offered in previous years) still waiting for news too. So hang in there x

I feel for those on the BYMT reserve list with auditions still open - I wonder if it's just that they will make up the places from those on the reserve list + those still to audition? So in effect they're on hold...?

My DD isn't happy atm as she feels she might have missed out on something better. It looks as though Nightshade is largely an ensemble piece. There is no mention of a part only an offer of being in the show. DD really wanted a part. We will have to pull her out of a professional opera production she is in to do this. She is due to audition on Sunday for a small part in the opera. I will have to phone BYMT for more details tomorrow. Very annoying, the whole thing!
