Hello everyone! Apologies, I’ve been lurking on here for a while- thank you so much for the useful info, it’s been very helpful. Two more Hunchback musicians here, girls aged 13 and 11 (and super-excited!)
Our younger daughter had a final recall for an onstage part in Henrietta- can we safely assume that it’s a “no” now, do you think? She has very little acting/dance experience (though a very strong music background) so we were rather taken aback that she got so far to be honest, but we’re now rather confused not to have heard anything!

Oh how lovely! Both of mine are violinists - congratulations to your daughter.

Fab! Mine is a first study violinist too, but we weren't surprised they opted for viola and she's very happy to get the viola out!!

I think you probably should have had news by now about the performer role for your younger DD, so maybe just worth checking something hasn't gone astray. It wouldn't be possible to be a musician in Hunchback and be in Henrietta, so possibly they have assumed that the outcome is implicit in offering her the musician role, but worth double-checking.

Well my ds has now received a musician offer for Hunchback!!!
Due to earlier no, he’s accepted the BYMT offer instead as the dates work slightly better anyway as he is due to get gcse results this year.

Oh blimey @Janet25 ! Such a rollercoaster for you too!!! He will have a great time on whichever project. But lovely to have had both offers xx

Ah, thank you @Biscuitsneeded - I did wonder about that. I’d prefer Hunchback tbh, it’d be complicated to have one in Manchester and the other in London(!) but I know she’s really keen on the idea of Henrietta.

Thanks @doesanybodyhaveamap it’s been a a stressful few days checking emails, but at least we know and are thankful to them both for the offers. Hunchback sounds great, it’s just a shame the dates aren’t as good than his BYMT offer.
He’s not applied to NYMT previously, so do we just drop them an email advising we can’t accept the offer?

@flussymummy last year DD was cast in the touring show which was to run over Easter with shows in June / July and I was verbally told she was also going to be offered a second show as a musician in Ragtime which ran later in the year. When Covid first hit, they originally planned to move the touring show back into the summer, which then clashed with Ragtime so she couldn't do both. So the musician offer wasn't officially sent as it was clear she wouldn't be able to do both. We weren't given a choice over which she'd rather do (which was totally fine!). I think they've made the decision of musician for your DD. This is why they usually wait until after stage castings before deciding on musicians...

Hi everyone, I’ve been watching from the sidelines as my DS didn’t audition this year. He’d have been there like a shot if it was in person but wasn’t confident enough to do it on Zoom. Congratulations to everyone whose DC have had offers and commiserations to those who missed out. It’s so tough waiting for news - I remember it well from last year.

My DS is doing the non-auditioned summer workshop. He’s 12 and will know no-one. If anyone has a child of a similar age who ends up going, I’d love to hear from you.

That would make sense. Plenty of years ahead of her to try again for a performer role. Well done to everyone and commiserations to those who weren’t successful- such a rollercoaster ride...
By the way, no need to comment if this is anyone’s daughter, in case your cover is blown- but my DD’s report from the Henrietta recalls was that she was mightily impressed by a girl called Tiffany...

I do feel it’s been a stressful one this year. Just the whole way of working is going to be very different. Hats off to NYMT for dealing with what must be a logistical nightmare though.

Still no news here and no response to the email. DD’s friends have now all heard one way or another. I’m sure they are swamped and I understand this year is super complex, however, I’d love a little update. So tricky to move on without some form of feedback. Anyone else still waiting?
