Continuation of the NYMT/BYMT 2021 thread because the other one got full!!!

I don't think this is tokenism. I think they had a vision of how they wanted the shared. Quasi role to work and didn't find that in their initial search. A bit like when they put a specific call out for tenors and basses for the show choir, and viola players for Parade..

I say from a position of certainty that NYMT are an inclusive organisation, particularly with neurodiverse participants. Granted, the process this year has been a bit rubbish and this will have been even more traumatic for ND applicants. But it won't have stopped many ND or other people with additional needs from being selected, just as they have been in bother years.

Don't get me wrong, I am totally with you on the way the delivery of outcomes is being handled. And I also have to admit slightly questioning the policy over last years cast - although I do understand it. But I do feel obliged to defend them on this particular issue 😘

An update. We’ve had a not successful email. (Recalled for BTK and Henrietta)
It does say reserved in case of any changes. Which makes me think they maybe having a bit of a nightmare trying to gauge acceptances. Thankfully DS is not too disappointed as he’s hoping this may mean we can go on holiday!

We have an update too.... DS was recalled for Henrietta, it's a no but reserved and considered for workshop, confirmation by Friday.... the not very confident wait continues, I'll restock the gin!!

DS is disappointed but ok, he's considering bymt, he very wisely said "it would help if they said what they're still looking for"

Also, very much a bug!! DS3 has had it coming from both ends for 24hrs now ☹️ DS2 seems to have got off pretty lightly!!

Update here also, emailing saying they are still finalising the trickiest parts for musicians, which happens to be percussion which my ds is waiting to hear back on.

At least some updates are trickling through.

No from NYMT here for musician for DS, but lovely email back and asked to keep details on their directory of musicians. We have a place offered with BYMT anyway which he will be taking up.

Sorry @Janet25 . With losing a show there are so few needed this year, it's a super tough year. DD is lucky being a string player, there are always more of them...

Ps interesting that they have a directory of musicians and sounds super positive that they've asked to add DS to it. I'm sure he will be successful in future years xx

The no email was very nice and seemed personal (though I’m sure it’s standard wording).

We got the no for musicians saying very impressed, go on their list etc so hopefully when’s she left older 👍

Sorry to hear of the no emails guys - I'm glad they're asking to keep those musicians on their radar.

Super tough year and those with recalls really did do super well! Next year I hope things will be more normal, more places will be available - and they're always keen to see people who have been recalled again a year later. Kids change so much, as do the shows!

Thanks for good luck messages. Dd did well today especially on the singing so all well here. Just got to wait now so we’ll see. Agree a bit with what has been said about inclusivity. Some dc applied this year specifically because there was an ‘inclusive’ production, thinking it would be fully inclusive. I’m not sure how accurate that perception was really but have heard that they intend to embrace and prioritise inclusivity going forward so gives dc hope for future years.

So sorry to hear about the nos. It's been a tough weekend. The update from here is that DS got an email late this pm when we'd kind of put it all to back of our minds as we thought the result was now obvious - to offer him ensemble in Hunchback! He's completely bowled over and so, so happy - and quite a bit bemused. I expect he's been given a place vacated by somebody who declined, so we'll forever be grateful to that person, but what a rollercoaster.

Wonderful news @Biscuitsneeded and hope the jo’s haven’t been too painful. We are still waiting, DD knows it will be a no, but really wants the closure. Is anyone else still waiting?
