Continuation of the NYMT/BYMT 2021 thread because the other one got full!!!

It does seem really harsh for some to have no idea while others are posting news. I hope in the long run it means more good news but please know I'm thinking of you all, because we've been there before with other productions xx

Welcome @Onemoremakesthree - I did the same thing and joined not that long ago, just the night before the recall! Good luck!!

Yes, my heart is really aching for all of you waiting, having been there a couple of weeks ago.

I suspect that after it went so wrong in the last round (missing out quite a few who should have had no emails) they are being doubly careful and have switched the order so that there is less room for error. It's extremely painful having to wait longer and then not getting the outcome you hope for.

But that's not to say you guys won't still be getting good news, as the workshop is still to be cast.

And as for musicians, I know of at least 2 that aren't accepting their offers due to clashes with other things that have come up since applying. I imagine NYMT are expecting quite a bit of that, so are waiting to see who accepts and then more offers will come. Xx

Oh crikey!! I was just about to broach auditioning for the Mayflower SYP with him instead and in came the email!

Thank you. Any news at your end just yet? I don’t think I’ve ever felt so on edge. Because he’d got in last year and had it taken away (like everyone else of course) I just felt so awful for him. I’m keeping everything crossed for you

He’s just turned 17 so falls into a tricky age bracket. It’s such a relief!! He’s over the moon. When I called him he was on the train going to see a friend and he sounded so down. He’s not now!!

I am glad they are saying something now. Maybe we will hear soon then.

I think the likelihood of one of the few keys players declining is very low. Much more likely orchestral players will have booked summer courses etc.

Well, nothing like 2 out of 3 DCs being sick in the car to distract from email checking 🤢 still no news here, but my car is now super clean and I'm a wine down!!!

@Biscuitsneeded that makes sense, and seems to be backed up by their tweet, thank you for your voice of reason, I agree though, it is a tough way of doing it!! Let's hope it is asap for our DCs, I'm pretty resigned to it being a no in our house now :-/

Theres been another tweet tonight by NYMT saying that they still haven't finished sending out the GOOD news... I assume its about the workshop at this stage. Still no news for us

Urgh, onemore! Was it travel sickness or a bug?

I have to admit to feeling like their recent casting call for a d/dumb actor (what does the d stand for?) is a bit of tokenism.

Having read that Hunchback was going to be an inclusive production I assumed they meant truly inclusive and the audition process would reflect that along with support/accommodations during the rehearsal process.

Not advertising for one disabled person after all the auditions & whilst people are still waiting to know where they stand. (Many of whom might be disabled or neurodiverse)
