Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

So I've kind of lost track. When do we think the performers will find out? Are we on the sofa for another couple of weeks?

@chaperonemum possibly up to another couple of weeks I think. They said they would need time after the last workshop before recalling performers.

Oh surely not weeks more??? (Dies). It's OK for families with kids at independent schools, as they get long holidays and can take a family week in July, but state schools round here don't break up till the day before the first NYMT residential starts. We just need to know if it's a no, or at narrow down the dates a bit, for the sake of parents and siblings who need to book a holiday before the entire country's holiday destinations are booked up!

If they are planning to do recalls 'during April' then the news has to come soon, surely? I'm hoping this week!

I still can't get my head round what dates I need to be aware of. I only manage to deal with one bit at a time.

I was hoping for musicians we will hear more from both NYMT this week and also from BYMT which show they have been allocated if already in Musicians pool. Is there usually an order of when and who they let know first?

@Janet25 I think NYMT musician news will be a while yet. last year it was after the final castings for stage performers. I'm hoping they won't wait until then this year as stage castings are taking so much longer! but I think there may be some sort of second round, at least for those they don't know already, so it could be a while yet.

BYMT have said show offers will come out this week for musicians.

Just desperately want to know so we can book holidays-as @Biscuitsneeded says there is so little time left to book anything if you are at state school or indeed teach in one! Looking at dates there isn’t even a week we can book without knowing NYMT results. Knowing how quickly everything is being booked I think we may all need to just house swap with each other!

Hahhaha @minimits I pity whoever gets my house. Nice location for an interesting city break, but luxury it ain't. However, I think you might be onto a very good idea there, especially as the very ordinary holiday cottages I looked at wistfully the other day that were still available were going for several thousand £ for one week! Let's all house swap for free! Anyone live anywhere nice for a holiday??

Just came across this forum when googling last night to see if any news on NYMT results so I’m feeling all your pain! My son auditioned last year and was selected for kiss me Kate but sadly like so many others didn’t get to take part.
He’s so keen to get on stage and would love to be selected this year but I’m sure there are lots of talented kids and it’s not so easy to stand out over zoom. He’s in the awkward 15 age now so who knows.
Fingers crossed we hear something soon.

My husband is desperate to get something booked but I won’t let him until we know. You are welcome to stay at our house however does come with a resident grumpy 19 year old!!

I have been a hol the first and last week. If my son was to be successful he’ll just need to miss holiday number one ( it’s with a few of my school pals and families so he won’t be upset lol. Our holiday at the end would start on the day one of the shows finishes I think so that could be ok too.

BYMT is notoriously running a bit behind every year they give a date and then the results are a bit later than that so hold your nerve.
Once you get your offer they are great and info is good.

Did BYMT give a date? I can't remember as my DD came out and burst into tears!

I’m a complete newbie so sorry if this is something I should know already but For those who are applying for both this year, how does that work? Do you accept the first offer or wait to see if you’ve got into both?
I hoped we might have heard something from NYMT by now as the waiting is really hard! Think it might be a few weeks though realistically..will need to top up the gin I think!
Is anyone doing the Easter Course with NYMT next week?

@Alakazam8 normally nymt resuts are out in the week following feb half term, so you'd know about that before bymt offers. Bymt are usually good about switching shows to a accomodate date clashes if you want to / are able to do both.

Its weird this year as bymt outcomes will be known first and nymt won't change shows due to a date clash. I dont know how long bymt will hold an offer before you'd have to accept/pay and whether they would consider a show swap once nymt offers are out.

In all honesty, i think if DD gets a bymt offer we are likely to take it and pull oit of nymt for this yesr. We need to move on with life.
