Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

So pleased that you are all starting to hear and doesanybodyhaveamap you need a sofa bed bless you. We can’t wait for theatres to open. DD is fit to burst having not been able to perform and now wants to go to a full time performing arts school. 😫

Been there, done that, bought the t shirt with dd. She's just finishing her final year after 8 years of vocational school.

@aplo Hello! I think you also deserve your own personal corner of the waiting room near the gin supplies. Having 3 offspring in the mix and also your own students ups the ante somewhat!

@Biscuitsneeded I’ll quite happily sit in the corner nearest the gin.
For anyone new who has a recall this weekend all my students and children so far have really enjoyed the recall, all saying it was fun even if it wasn’t the same as being in the room for those who have auditioned before and even those who weren’t possibly as happy with their performance in the audition still had lots of fun! Best of luck to all xxx

@Alakazam8 we received them at 17.15 the evening before the workshop.

Quick question please. Are scripts definitely sent over for the on line audition workshops?

I have just looked back at the audition invites and it just says you will receive "an email and the link to join the zoom the evening before your allocated audition".

There is nothing about a script to read in advance and in fact it says "There is no preparation required".

Did other people have a reference to the script in their invites?

Hello to the waiting room! DS is currently in his workshop and seems to be having a great time. How’s yours getting on @Alakazam8

Well our wifi has gone down no less than 4 times during this workshop! At one point I had to climb over the pushed back furniture to try and reboot it. Predictably it came back on just as I was attractively rolling back over the sofa 😂😂

DS has been having zoom singing lessons luckily so that’s something he’s had to focus on.

I guess now we all forget about it until we hear again! I’m keeping everything crossed for us all to be watching our children in these shows!

@Triflefan I’m laughing at the image of you climbing over the sofa- we have done similar here. Our WiFi can be patchy at times so getting through the workshop had us all holding breaths willing it to work.

Hopefully all who had their workshops this morning enjoyed them and best of luck to all those on this afternoon and tomorrow.

@Triflefan finished at 1. Dd did her absolute best and enjoyed it all so I was really happy. They really seem lovely and were very encouraging throughout the workshop.

@Alakazam8 and @aplo was there just one workshop this morning? Presumably they were all in the same one? Maybe they saw my fabulous gymnastic skills?! 😆

Glad to hear everyone has enjoyed it. I was listening in occasionally and wondered what on Earth DS was on about giving lame reasons for being late but it was apparently charades!

@Triflefan my student was this afternoon I think- she didn’t turn up for her zoom lesson at 2.30 with me today and I assumed she was at her NyMt workshop. I’ve asked her to let me know how she gets on so will update here when I hear from her.

@Triflefan there was one this morning but they split them into two groups so might not of seen your sofa parkour! Dd is really happy with what she did so all good here. Hope all dc that have workshops this weekend have a good experience too.

My DS seemed to enjoy himself yesterday, not easy to get information out of him and he locked himself upstairs in a bedroom (with the bed upended) to make room. Sounded like a herd of elephants coming through the ceiling at times.

Is that it now for the DC on this board, or are there any left for today or even next weekend?

My DS did workshop this morning, he enjoyed it and we are looking at it as first experience of this sort of thing so all good
