Hiya Loler!

Oooh, lots of people all of a sudden! I might have to take notes. Fi - it was just you and me for a while back there.....

FiByTheIcySea · 01/07/2010 09:27

loler welcome :-) more the merrier! well done on nearly finishing wk 3. I listened to the 1st few mins of wk on my way home last night as the wk2 podcast had run out. have to admit i went

FiByTheIcySea · 01/07/2010 09:34

oops that was supposed to be 1st few mins of wk3!

mrswill · 01/07/2010 10:30

Hello all, can I join? You sound like your all doing so well.
I used to run a fair bit before having DD, and used to manage 45 min runs no problem. Sadly this is not the case now, and I'm more likely to use my time after work and looking after dd to sit watching the soaps with bars of chocolate.

I'm on week 3 day 2, tomorrow. I'm doing it through an app on my iPhone.

Has anyone got a recommendation for a good sports bra for the larger bosomed?? About a 34DD? I've got a marks and sparks one, but to be fair it's struggling with it's job of containing them!

thelittlebluepills · 01/07/2010 12:52

hello and welcome mrswill and loler

Sports bras - definitely get a shock absorber - available from bravissimo, running shops and john lewis. I've got one that also passes as a crop top for hot days

I'm also doing it on the iphone app - as you can have your own music and choose to have a female voice instructing you (I would argue too much with the male voice I think )

I'm on the injury bench at the moment but hoping some of you will still be on here when the physio lets me start back again.

Fi - don't be freaked out about what's coming up next - just trust in the program - if you managed the last run then you will manage the next one -

happy new shoes notanidea

wohmum · 01/07/2010 20:12

Going out tomorrow for week 2 day 2, and am actually looking forward to it!

I may not feel the same tomorrow morning at 6am!
Which iPhone app have you ladies got?

loler · 01/07/2010 20:35

DH has done a bunk on me again to night - feeling a need to go out which is completely bonkers as the last time I went for 'a run' I was 15 and it was the annual hell of school cross-country. My 15 year old self cleverly avoided the whole hour hell of the cross-county by bribing the monitor (the class fat girl who happened to have a sick note) to let me duck through a hedge a few minutes into the race. I hung around until the race leaders ran past then tagged onto the end of them - I was very pleased with myself coming third and getting all the wow you came out of no-wheres, I did let them go to my head! Back fired later when I was told I'd been selected to run for the school....

Well the point of the essay was to say if I can do week 3 then any one can do don't worry fi!

N4NNY · 01/07/2010 21:13

just wanted to say keep going everyone tonight i have done wk9 day 1 and have run for 30 mins 9 weeks ago i struggled to run 60 seconds. I have even signed up for a 10k race not til october though so it gives me time to do B210K

hobbittoes · 01/07/2010 21:25

For those of you who like music try this as an alternative to Robert

Wilts · 01/07/2010 21:26

Can I gatecrash?

I am due to do day 2 of week 2 tomorrow. I am going to the gym and using the treadmill, I know this is not the best option, until I am more confident I am not running in full view of my neighbours

I am not sure if I will ever enjoy running though, but am really keen to get upto the 5k at least.

Not so sure of Robert's taste in music, but really need his 'last 20 seconds to go' motivation at the moment!!

wohmum · 02/07/2010 22:26

Week w2, day 2!

All done,roll on day 3.

Howvisveveryone else doing,? Lisasimpson, how are you getting on?

FiByTheIcySea · 02/07/2010 22:40

I've done my last run of wk2 this evening and it was really good.. showed me that i'm ready for wk 3! which i'll be starting on sunday eve.
hiya wilts you're not gate crashing at all.. great to have more n more of us encouraging and supporting each other here imo :-)
N4NNY congratulations :-) it's exciting to hear it really is possible! B210K yay! you'll have to let us know how it goes.. i think i'm already addicted enough I can see me doing that too.
hobbitoes thanks.. when i'm next on the laptop i'll check out your link as i like running to music :-)
loler sorry you've been stuck in.. fingers crossed you get a chance over the weekend
bras as you know i'm of silly huge norkage proportions I bought the royce impact free from bravissimo and it has been superb.
waves to everyone else hope you're ok :-)

TheNextMrsDepp · 03/07/2010 12:35

Hello all. Haven't checked in for a few days as I have been stupidly busy for the last week; I'm counting the days until the end of term. Anyway, I didn't neglect my running, and I've finished week 6! I did the 25 minute run very early on Thursday morning, and I couldn't believe it when Robert said I had only four minutes to go, I honestly felt like I could run all day. I'm taking the weekend off, because quite frankly I need a break. Week 7 starts Monday...

N4NNY - great to hear that you made it to week 9. I'm sure you'll have no problem with the 10K if you've got this far.

And wilts - who gives a stuff what the neighbours think? Maybe try running in the early morning when no-one is about except the dustmen.

Wilts · 03/07/2010 18:32

FiByTheIcySea I am due to do the last run of week two tomorrow, and I hope I feel ready for week 3 like you do!

TheNextMrsDepp - have decided to try a deserted field tomorrow morning, thus avoiding the neighbour issue!

My new sports bra arrived this morning, when I was trying it on Ds2 asked what it was for. I told him it was to stop your boobs jiggling when you run and gave him a demonstration- he said ' but mum it doesn't stop your tummy wobbling does it?'

I am having knee trouble at the moment, so wore a support yesterday, I will see how it goes tomorrow, but suspect a visit to the Gp is on the cards.

I will be quite disappointed if I have to stop the running now I have finally started.

notanidea · 03/07/2010 19:02

hello all

wilts even I was worried regarding the neighbours but it gets better.Anyway why should you cared?

n4nny welldone for your week9 completion

I have done the second run of week 4 - it was actually not bad- I cant believe I could do it. Cant agree more with you mrs depp it is addictive.looking forward for the next run tomorrow.

mrswill · 03/07/2010 21:12

Hello all,

Sadly even the shock absorber or the one made for running by shock absorber could contain my boobs, my 2 very tight bra combo does a better job, but will look into that royce impact free one FiByTheSea, thanks. Apart from extreme engineering, Im not sure what will stop them from jiggling around. Ive gone down to 32 DD though which Im chuffed about.

Completed wk 3 day 2 yesterday, and am finding it ok. Slightly impatient to get to the 20mins nonstop running, as last time I found the weight dropped off quickly when you crack onto the long stretches of running.

N4nny well done for reaching wk 9, very inspiring!

wohmum Am not sure what app it is, was the cheapest C-5k on there. Its brilliant fair play, it tells you when to run/walk etc. Beats running with phone in hand, trying to work out times etc.

What times are people generally going out and about to do their runs?? Am trying to gear myself up for early morning, but am managing to get out at 5pm or after 7pm when DD goes to bed. Tricky getting meals to fit in too, as running on a full stomach or starving is not good. Roll on wk 3 day 3 tomorrow

TheNextMrsDepp · 03/07/2010 22:34

mrswill - I'm an early morning runner at the moment, getting up 30 minutes early and leaving dh in charge at home. And I'm not normally a morning person! Sometimes I have to be out by 5am if dh has one of his frequent business trips. But I find it's nice and cool, not many people about, and then it's done for the day and I don't have to fret about fitting it in around school pick-ups, meals etc. I don't eat beforehand, just have a big glass of water before I set off.

I'm not sure how I'll feel when the dark mornings come around, though!

Can't help with the big boobage problem, I'm afraid. Fi's the girl for that!

hobbittoes - thanks for the Suz podcast link - she sounds like she's been sniffing helium, but I quite fancy doing my next 25-minute run to the sounds of the 80s instead of Robert Ullrey's new-age electro-pop.

notanidea · 04/07/2010 10:05

Hey just finished the week 4 runs. Next two weeks are going to be busy so ha ve to see how I will fit the runs.Mrs Depp- week five has 8minute runs isnt it?

TheNextMrsDepp · 04/07/2010 12:58

notanidea - Week 5 is where it ramps up - 5 minute runs on the first day, then 8 minutes, then on the third run it's the big 20 minutes. But, you know what, you'll manage it. If I did, anyone can.

Rugbylovingmum · 04/07/2010 13:33

Hi all,

very rushed but just wanted to pop on and say I've finished week 1 -hurray - and heading into week 2. Hope I manage to find a bit more time to get on here next week. See you.

wohmum · 04/07/2010 23:00

me too!

finished week 1 today, and about to start week 2,but will leave it until Wednesday.

keep running ladies!

notanidea · 04/07/2010 23:35

MrsDepp Do you hae to download three different downloads for week 5? I cant really believe that I can run for 20minutes.
I will choose somewhere flat so it is easy.

TheNextMrsDepp · 04/07/2010 23:49

notanidea - no, it's all on the same podcast - he says "day 1, stop running, day 2, you have 3 minutes left" etc. etc.

Of course you can do 20 minutes! As someone said to me on this thread, if you can do the second day, which is two 8-minute runs with just a short walk in the middle, then you can do the 20 minute one. But no, I didn't believe it either.

loler · 05/07/2010 00:02

I did the first week 4 today (also my birthday) can't believe that I managed it but feeling a real sense of acheivement! Wishing I hadn't read the week 5 posts! However - when robert told me tonight that i was going to run for 5 minutes I had a little laugh - so it can be done!

Wilts - I also have the neighbour phobia - I run without my glasses on and don't look up, with an ipod on therefore no-one exists apart from me (and the dog - my running mate - the idea being if I die on the way round she can lead them - skippy style to me!)

My main problems currently are fly in eye issues and flies in mouth (3 tonight - don't need the extra calories and they scratch on the way down!) - any tips other than full face mask?

TheNextMrsDepp · 05/07/2010 17:30

loler - at the flies. I have one stretch of my route which is under trees and I always get a mouthful - nearly inhaled a moth this morning. I'm not sure what the solution is, apart from stopping breathing.

I always put my contacts in before running, after I ran straight through a squishy horse-poo last time I ran blind. Actually, I'm so blind there's always a danger I'll get lost!

Well done getting started on week 4, and Happy Birthday! You've earned an extra-big piece of cake.

I have now started Week 7 (eek!) and almost chickened out of today's run (Monday-itus) but so glad I didn't. Ran to the Suz 90's podcast (thanks for the link hobbittoes), felt like flaking at around half-way, but then "Eye of the Tiger" came on - LOL! Rocky didn't quit, so I couldn't either!
