Shaz I went running in the rain the other week. Its summer rain bit different from autumn and winter rain though!

sybilfaulty · 30/08/2010 20:59

Well girls, I have managed the 20 mins and even quite enjoyed the first 15! I found that the last 5 were quite hard going but i had this determination (god knows why!) to get through without stopping or walking. I am almost looking forward to doing it again. Back to week 6 for me now though.

The kids go back to school this week and I am really pleased that I can now run for a while, when at the start of the school hols I couldn't really do a minute on and a minute off. You are right though - the challenge will come once I am properly back at work (I teach at a university so haven't done much for the last 6 weeks) and also when it is cold. Summer rain is quite nice. December rain, I suspect, is less so.

Well done girls. Let's keep going and try to spur each other on.

nobiggy · 31/08/2010 09:26

Sybil! YOu did the 20!

I'll report back later, but it looks a bit warm out there.

nobiggy · 31/08/2010 10:27

Done it! Only 1.35 miles, but the whole 20 mins, even running through a side stitch about 14 minutes in!
I'm having a Lucozade Lite now!

Shaz10 · 31/08/2010 11:29

Woooooo! Well done! :o

FiByTheIcySea · 31/08/2010 20:26

well done sybilfaulty&nobiggy on your 20min runs!
well done shaz loujaloo & anyone else i've not mentioned too.
i've sorta fallen off my running timetable over the summer holidays with the kids around Blush
but pleased to report i'm back from my first wk7 run of 25mins.. legs are a bit wobbly but glad i eventually made it out at last! I even made my own podcast using my own choice of music with the excellent instructions I found on here

N4NNY · 03/09/2010 21:04

I went running yesterday for the first time in 2 weeks due to injury and a holiday, I was happily running along when all of a sulden i hit the deck hard boo now have a grazed and bruised knee dented ego and a very big knock to my confidence.

MABS · 05/09/2010 12:34

glad you all doing so well, keep it up!

sybilfaulty · 05/09/2010 20:34

Thanks MABS. I have been at work for the last few days so no running here. Am going to try for tomorrow.

I think your son is having his op soon - best wishes to you all and hope he has a speedy recovery.

kiwibella · 05/09/2010 20:47

wow, I can't believe the progress on here!! Raffiiscool... it's wonderful to read a "success" story, thanks.

Sybil and nobiggy... you two are amazing!! I was running at the same week as you but have lost track for the last couple of weeks. I haven't been able to juggle life and kids and, consequently, haven't been out for two weeks. I have no excuses this week with dd2 at pre-school and I don't have any work. I'm going to go back to week 2 tomorrow and, depending on how that goes, try week 3 the day after. Hopefully I haven't lost too much momentum... even though I feel frumpy and sluggish.

Nanny, hope you will be ok and get back to it!! It's brilliant to read everyone's updates.

wohmum · 05/09/2010 23:28

Everyone is doing so well, it's very addictive isn't it?

I've had a varied few weeks - kept up while on hols for weeks 7 and 8, but have had a rotten chesty cold since I came back and have only done 1 run since then.

Dreading the next one I do in case I can't manage 25 or 28 mins any more.....

I'm a bit worried about how I'll keep motivated when I get to the end off the program because it's seeing the progress is what keeps me going - what happens when I can run 5k?

I've seen that there is a 'Parkrun' quite close to me - has anyone progressed to these or what do you do when you get to the end?

Help!

nobiggy · 05/09/2010 23:33

Kiwibella! My Moonwalk buddy! I need to get moving again this week, haven't run since last Tuesday. DP ran the Bristol Half Marathon today and did really well, finished in under an hour and a half. He has trained really hard.

I had intended to go out tomorrow, but it's DD2's first day back at pre-school - I'll see, if I don't hang about I should be able to run and be back in time.

But for now, time for some sleep!

MABS · 06/09/2010 12:06

thanks so much, yers, ds' op in Wed :(

Loujalou · 06/09/2010 12:52

Fingers crossed for you DS Mabs.

I did week 5 day 2 and although it was horrid I did it. Day 3 is going to make me cry... Big jump. Help me.

Shaz10 · 06/09/2010 12:55

I've just finished Week 3 Run 2 and every time I start a new run I think I can't possibly do it - but I do! Here's hoping that continues. :)

kiwibella · 06/09/2010 16:08

I can't find the ipod! I easily filled in the morning while dd was at pre-school and thought I would be able to go once dd1 got home from school and could tell me where it is. Absolutely gutted... need another plan. I need the motivation from being told what to do... I'm dreading actually having to time it myself.

Oh mabs, I hope everything will be ok for your ds x

kiwibella · 06/09/2010 16:08

good job, Shaz. I love that feeling of achieving what seems impossible!

kiwibella · 06/09/2010 16:10

lou - are you using the Robert Ullrey version? Are there different runs for different days of the week?

Shaz10 · 06/09/2010 16:47

I'm using Raw-bert, and it's the same podcast for each run in the week - i.e. you listen to it 3 times.

Loujalou · 06/09/2010 17:46

I use rawbert and he tells you for each of the different runs what to do but its all on the same podcast. HTH

nobiggy · 06/09/2010 22:54

Week 6 run 1 this morning. It really hurt, don't know why. Did it though.

sybilfaulty · 07/09/2010 07:44

Well done everyone. I just did W6 R2 and it was doable but I felt it. Found a tenner on the ground as I ran though, so worth it in one respect.

25 mins on Fri am and a big night out thursday. Eek!

Hope things are OK with you, MABS. Am thinking of you and your family.

loler · 07/09/2010 13:29

I'm sneaking back in after not having run for the whole of the summer holidays - took stuff to Spain but far too hat to even think about running, so I talked about it while drinking sangria and eating cheese!

Loads of success stories on here to get me going again though.

I've just done week 4 (nearly killed me!), didn't think I would manage week 7 after such a long break. Anyone else picked it up again? Was wondering about doing each week twice until I got where I was (maybe skip the 20 minute one? Wink)

I was very pleased to be in my lovely new running kit, from the next sale. 10 minutes in I realised my top was inside out!

nobiggy · 07/09/2010 20:23

I've just had a very PROFOUND thought!

I went to blood donors last Thursday, I bet that accounts for my difficulty on Monday.

Anyone know when I'll be back to normal?

sybilfaulty · 08/09/2010 00:16

Nobiggy, I am donating tomorrow so will take it easy over the weekend. Will let you know.

I want to branch out alone without RObert, but feel a bit disloyal. I want to do the 9 weeks with him and for him to say "way to go" or something equally fab at the end. I haven'[t decided what's next for me though. I am OK with running but don'[t love it in the way I love to swim. I could swim for hours but am watching the clock til the run is over. I don't feel the euphoria either. IS this normal? Is everyone else an addict? What am I doing wrong? I worry if it is hard in early Sept, I dont stand a chance in the proper winter. Any advice???
