Hello lovely ladies! Back from half term holiday spent in the sunshine. My first holiday in two years and I really benefitted from it, especially after losing dad at Christmas. I have a smile back on my face and everything seems rosier again. Hurrah!
While I had a lovely holiday with a break from cooking, cleaning and the kids (there was a kids' club and creche!), I stupidly managed to pull a calf muscle doing circuits so thwarted my efforts to use the gym every day. That was really annoying as I don't belong to a gym and was looking forward to working out indoors with all the equipment. So I am off activity for another week at least I think letting my leg recover. ARRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!
master - well done on both the speedy run and the risque nature in which you ran in ! Will certainly donate something to help motivate you.
twink - the site looks wonderful. We are still trying to work out a date for my dad's interment. Mum wants the local cemetary although I wonder if she will move one day in the near future, leaving dad behind which will seem a bit odd. Perhaps I should just leave her to make her mind up and go along with it. I don't mind where he goes as he is where I need him most, in my heart.
orm - your progress sounds terrific! I know how depressing it is thinking about where you should have been but it is best to just look at where you were not so long ago, resigned to not running at all and now you are regularly running a decent distance. Keep the runs small and just build up more slowly as my mistake is to bang out extra mileage way too soon considering my tendency to injure myself. When I started, I just ran 5km daily and kept to that for months before changing route and adding more miles (I started running 7.5 miles to work instead of going to the treadmill in the gym). While some say I could have varied my training a bit more earlier on, what I did manage to do was really get a decent base and my body used to a regular 15-20 miles a week before increasing it to 45 miles a week. Looking back it was very helpful and I am going to keep the runs short to build up strength and technique.
Sorry not read back very far but will do so to try and catch up with your news.
Happy running and stay injury-free (says she with the tendonitis, dodgy hamstring and now calf muscle!)
