Hills, don't mention hills....
Actually hills are fab, they make you stronger, no really they do but having just had a 6 hour round trip to Exmoor plus a 4.5 hour bike ride with, oddly enough, one or two hills I'm heading off to a flat bed!
Apparently I've done nearly 5000 feet of climbing in 56 miles (except we did more cos we missed a turn ) but the good news is, I'd have made the cut-off time if it was race day The official stats say 52 hills in 56 miles..
SFX, have borrowed a size 10 boot on your behalf, get yourself out and tell us what you've done. xxx
Goldberry, that's great, especially if you can carry on with like-minded people. I love to run with a mixed bunch, as it's a great leveller, the only thing people have in common is their love of running so jobs and status are irrelevant - unlike in many aspects of life.
Moshi, Bootcamp sounds fab, did one here until domestic issues made it too tricky.
I was due to give blood today but have postponed it until after my big day; I once got a bollocking from a medic friend when she found out I'd given blood 4 weeks before doing London as although your blood volume returns to normal within 24-36 hours, its composition takes a lot longer to return to normal - fine in an ordinary person but not for regular hard exercisers. It's not just the red cells to consider, but also whites which fight disease and other bits and pieces too (she knows a lot about it, and I was taken aback by her strong reaction) I'm going to wait until 2 weeks after my race, especially as I've had a few low iron issues recently.
