giddykipper · 01/01/2009 09:08

I WILL NOT nesh out again like I did last time.

DP has even bought me an iPod Shuffle to run with so that I don't have to lug my big iPod around (oh the inconvenience).

this is what I'm talking about and here's the podcasts I run to.

I'm not starting today though, got about 3 hours sleep last night.

I1m on week 1 run 3 - great tips on here thanks

BrownSuga · 24/02/2009 20:18

Nice to see so many news ones joining in, we've got quite a gang here now.

I'm sitting here scoffing a slice of pizza for lunch (in my defense it was only $2.50 and a quicker walk than the food hall), so I'm aiming to get back out tomorrow night to continue W5. It's been snowing the past 3 days, and they've just about cleared it all away which helps my motivation as well.

Happy running this week everyone!

LibrasJusticeLeagueofBiscuits · 25/02/2009 11:13

Morning.

I didn't get to do W4r1 yesterday, by the time I got home from work I could barely move from the kitchen to the living room sofa with tiredness. Unfortunatly today I am going straight from work to nursery and so won't be able to get out tonight either. However there is a treadmill with my name on it in the gym tomorrow.

santababi - can you wear your trainers in the house to break them in and a 13 yr old should have no trouble with these runs but remember to go at her pace.

keepingitria - if you just set up a sponsership page you can just send an email out so no need for face-to-face asking!

kittywise - yay you on the 25 minutes

Madwelshwoman - welcome

trillian - how did the viva go?

lexcat - everyone has bad days every now and then, the positive is that you are going to go out and try again!

mileniwmffalcon - glad you got the dress!

MissAnthrope · 25/02/2009 11:44

W2R1 yesterday - not as scary as I'd expected and I have full faith in the programme.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that I'd lost 2.5in last week despite eating less than healthily

Ria - hope you're feeling better soon

Kitty - 25 minutes is excellent, well done!

lexcat · 25/02/2009 15:01

MissAnthrope well done on your iches.
The best part of the programme is been fitter, sleeping better, and best of all the buzz I get every time I make a little most progess. That in turn has really inspired me also to think about by diet because I like been fitter and my extra me I'm carrying around doesn't fit the picture that well.
If somesone told me in 5 weeks ago I would be able to run do W4 R1 I would have laughed as I stuggled to do 1min runs then. Well I nearly did W4R1 today and enjoyed it. Stuggled on the last 5mins got to 4min and was going slightly up hill and my legs just couldn't face it. After such a crap run on Monday I wanted to finish on a high point.
Sorry for the moan on Monday, thanks for the support I'm really into the plan now and happy with my progress and it left me on a real downer having one bad day.

Just wanted to add were are you GIDDYKIPPER, even if you haven't start it would be great to hear from you as you have been the one to get us all going. Thanks for that

mileniwmffalcon · 25/02/2009 15:33

yay lexcat fab going so good to hear you had a better run this time.

i fear i may be turning into a runner. instead of sitting back today and enjoying my day off i've been busy planning a new route for tomorrow

lexcat · 25/02/2009 15:50

Just noticed I put W4 R1 infact it was W5 R1 I did today or should I say tried. Will try again to finsh the last 5mins before I work on R2. R3 I just can't see my self doing in a hurry so may be on this week for a while.

mileniwmffalcon · 25/02/2009 16:01

wow that's even more impressive - wk 5 is 3x5mins, isn't it? you've leapt ahead, well done

lexcat · 25/02/2009 16:20

Well seeing all the progess of other who started at the New Year with me, thought I try and push myself abit more. Stopped my own plan and move in the one everyone is on. Did W3R1 and found it easy so moved to W4R1 got hard at the end bur over all not to bad. So thought I'd try W5R1 as I felt I could do more.

DrTrillianAstra · 25/02/2009 16:23

W2R1 is happening soon. It is. Just waiting for cup of tea and (small) slice of cake to go down. I couldn't refuse, it was wedding cake. It's unlucky to refuse a piece of wedding cake when offered. Or did I make that up? It was tasty anyway.

Pennies · 25/02/2009 16:27

Rght, I tried W5R3 AGAIN on Sunday and it was hopeless, in fact I'd regressed, somehow. I figured that I hadn't rested enough between runs and due to a knee strain (from driving - Ohh the irony) I'm taking it easy until the weekend.

I need to boost my motivation tho - really p'd off that I've got stuck at this point.

mileniwmffalcon · 25/02/2009 16:38

that's fantastic lexcat it's so true that we often underestimate what we can do, which is why it can be great to just unthinkingly follow what someone else tells you to do!

mind you don't overdo it though

mileniwmffalcon · 25/02/2009 16:40

sorry you've hit a tough patch pennies. did you rerun the whole week or just r3?

backintheUK · 25/02/2009 16:50

Hello all - i havent posted for ages as had to have a week off then went a week back as did my achilles in.

Now have new trainers and completed W4 run 2 today which was not too bad but still feel pretty wiped out.
Lost this thread so glad to get back into it now.....

DrTrillianAstra · 25/02/2009 18:08

W2R1 done so I'm at the same stage as MissAnthrope.

It was actually harder than I thought it would be, not sure if I underestimated how long 90 seconds is or if it's because I had a slightly longer gap than I should have since I last ran. Or it could be the remnants of my PhD hangover...

DP has just come back from doing a proper run but has managed to restrain himself from mocking my teeny-tiny jogs.

mileniwmffalcon · 25/02/2009 21:16

lol trillian i just noticed the namechange, so we can take it the viva went well congratulations!

Madwelshwoman · 25/02/2009 21:34

Hi everyone and well done Trillian on the viva, I'm currently writing my thesis, early days at the moment though.

Well I did W1R2 today and reluctantly let DH come along with me today as he was keen and was off work. Suprisingly I enjoyed it and we are now going to make it a weekly routine now once the kids are off to school on a Wednesday as neither of us have work until after lunch!

Feeling really positive now and am next going on Sat and then going to try W2 next week, fingers crossed.

One question though, do you need to stretch before and after? DH seems to think so but I thought no due to the warm up/cool down walks. Also if you do stretches would anyone mind telling a complete thicko me how??

giddykipper · 25/02/2009 21:36

Oh gawd, you're all still going.

I'm not and I started the bleedin' thread

I am so rubbish.

OP posts:
giddykipper · 25/02/2009 21:38

I feel utterly ashamed.

I had really good intentions too this time.

BrownSuga · 25/02/2009 21:40

GIDDYKIPPER - HELLO! Just wanted to say thanks for starting this thing off, it's brilliant.

And, it's not too late to start, you can do it...

mileniwmffalcon · 25/02/2009 22:16

hello gk - look what you started! there's nothing stopping you joining in again you know - gwaaaan

from what i've read stretching before is a bad idea but stretching after is fine if you want to/feel it helps stiffness i do these.

DrTrillianAstra · 25/02/2009 22:28

Yay, stretching examples.

Viva wasn't precisely the most fun I've had in an afternoon but they said I'm allowed to have a PhD and that's the main thing. Just got some corrections to do, and the printing, and then the binding.

Come on giddykipper, there's a whole bunch of us just starting this week or last week so you can start again with us!

Good luck Madwelshwoman, it can be done, even if you discover MN and mess around when you should be writing like I did!

mileniwmffalcon · 26/02/2009 09:16

lol @ phd + can't be arsed to google

w4r2 today - it's bloody cold out there! (have shed jacket in favour of thin cotton hoody, will check the temp before i go next time). found it pretty hard going if i'm honest, although i did make it, and recovered quicker afterwards than last time. i've got a bit more of a cold today, maybe that's it.

planning my route in advance was a good idea, got me out of going round and round the same bit of park, and i was fairly close in estimating how far each walk/run section would take me.

happy running peeps

DrTrillianAstra · 26/02/2009 11:22

It's perfectly consistent - I've been very busy so coudn't be arsed to google [hmmph]

Now we need a tongue-sticking-out smiley!

BrownSuga · 26/02/2009 13:31

W5R2: My last run was a week ago, but I thought I'd just pick up where I left off. First 8min run was easy, the 2nd one, slighty less so. I think that was more to do with me rubbernecking at houses for sale on my running route though

I'm glad to be back running and looking forward to knocking this week off, which should be saturday, all going to plan.
