45 minutes Senior Flex - apparently we're now doing Supersets.
45 minutes Active for Life - Trying to increase running on the treadmill, but only managed 2 min warm-up, 5 min at 6.4 kph and 3 min cool down. Biceps curls with 6kg followed by SPARC.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 12/08/2026 23:58

5k run
5k walk

Nothing else as been out and about socialising today. Must try to do a bit more strength training, I’ve been letting it slide lately.

17,500 steps

WearyAuldWumman · 13/08/2026 00:48

Remembered my knee braces. That was 121.

BezMills · 13/08/2026 08:06

My back's a bit better thanks! I've been taking a couple of cocodamols before bed and then just generally being a bit careful of it. I did BodyCombat and for once managed to be super good to my back. Didn't throw the kicks, just stayed inside my own footprint iyswim and did the punchy bits. When they do running knees I did high knee marches. When they did back kick, I just leaned forward a little bit and looked over my shoulder without picking my foot up. Etc.

I actually had a great time.

Last night very quiet at my Boxercise. Just had two people but I like that. It's 100% coaching, which I love. Had the new fella for his second go around. My main project with him is just to get him to calm down and relax. He's very tightly wound and when he sets up to punch he gets mad tense like he's actually in a fight. So I told him that's my project for him, to get him relaxed and stop blocking himself with tension.

The other person was my youngest participant, G. She's wanting to go to a boxing club and they wanted her to film herself throwing certain punches to get an idea of her level. I thought that's a bit much really. Just get her down the gym and see for yourself no? So anyway we got some footage of her throwing some different shots and I told her I want her to watch the footage back and tell me what she sees. I already know what I saw, and I'll be interested to see what she picks up from the footage.

All sounds good @BezMills . Yes, definitely agree with being careful.

Comtesse · 14/08/2026 23:27

26m dance workout today plus stretching afterwards. SO overheated!

WearyAuldWumman · 14/08/2026 23:51

A brief bit of running (treadmill) at Active for Life - only 10 minutes. Heart rate better today - max of 156.

Senior Flex, 45 minutes.

Comtesse · 18/08/2026 09:38

23 mins yesterday - tai chi walking plus a bit of yoga stretching. Nearly 3 months of doing 20 mins plus exercise daily.

WearyAuldWumman · 18/08/2026 09:40

Exercising on hold. Was unwell at the weekend and now other matters are in the way. Grrr.

FurForksSake · 18/08/2026 11:07

10 minutes on the exercise and then a 20 minute routine (goblet squats, split squats, elbow planks and shoulder presses). Felt pretty good!

Boxercise last night, had 12 which is a great headcount in the mid summer. Did a good mix of training and skills (I hope) then did my classic of "I saw this on the internet yesterday so we're doing it now". Bonus points because it was a Tom Morrison one. Then we did Sally Up with a mix of squats and lunges.

Today J was picking me up to go to Cardio Combat and his first words were 'that exercise wrecked me' - kaching, well pleased with that report!

Combat was brilliant, I feel fine this week so gave it big beans and pushed the boat out a bit. I am just going to fix up my kit bags so we're ready for next Monday's boxercise and revel in being a bit organised and on top of things for a change.

Alittlefrustrated · 18/08/2026 22:23

60 x25m swim
138.
Having problems with my knees. I'm going to have to make the effort and lose some weight or I'll be needing 2 new knees,as well as hips 🙁

FurForksSake · 18/08/2026 23:00

@Alittlefrustrated I have to say my knees are a lot better having lost significant weight. My hips are a lost cause. As is my back.

im wondering if I can count two hours of wheel throwing ceramics as exercise? I was exhausted afterwards.

5k walk
Barre class (45 mins)
Pump it up class (45 mins)

Am slowly increasing the weights I use at pump it up. Today I used 2 7kg dumbbells for lunges and then 1 14kg dumbbell for goblet squats and weighted bridges. I think I’m going to order a pair of 8s to use at home now.

20,300 steps

Comtesse · 19/08/2026 19:10

24 mins HIIT and abs yesterday. Now my knee hurts - serves me right for jumping around too much TSK!

WearyAuldWumman · 19/08/2026 20:11

Senior Flex, 45 minutes. Usual mix of cardio, stretches, squats, upper body work with weights. Some lower body with bands.

At Active for Life, just used the treadmill. 2 minute warm-up; 20 minutes jogging/running 6.1 kph; 5 minute cool down. Stretches.

FurForksSake · 19/08/2026 21:02

I did ten minutes of exercise bike time before work and then my 25 minute strength work out after work. The strength was 3 rounds of
standing rows
bicep curls
weighted glute bridges
and raised clam things.
i managed to do all of it and keep going for the full 40ish seconds. It flew bye quicker than the warm up and cool down!

im trying to do the cycling most mornings and building up to twenty minutes and the strength routines four times a week.

While I was struggling through my twenty minutes dh and ds1 were busting it up and down a lake with their dragon boat crew as though it was nothing. We are definitely in a mixed fitness ability family, but I keep trying!

5k run
Loads of walking
Shesensu class (45 mins)

23.200 steps

Alittlefrustrated · 19/08/2026 23:52

Coastal walk - distance hasn't recorded but it was over 20000 steps, so reasonable. Got drenched in a thunder storm.
Didn't sleep last night due to bilateral knee and elbow pain. These weren't bad once walking but by the end my hip had me waddling.
Very strange for everything to flare up like this.
I'm a big believer in keeping moving though. 139.

BezMills · 20/08/2026 06:30

Had my Boxercise class last night, with 9 people. That's huge for the Wednesday class, I was well chuffed. We have a couple of participants who are running the local (hilly as all heck) marathon for charity, so I've said I'll sell some of my stock of spare gloves and give the money to the cause. I buy gloves on vinted and ebay, when they're a good price, can't really help myself. Might have a small vinted addiction but that's by the by!

Also earlier in the day I had a nice chat with the hiring manager at the cooncil gyms group. I'm hoping to cover Anna Sensei's Combat class when she's off, and they're keen to give me a slot of my own down the line - but first I have to get through the points based application filter - and he gave me some pointers there. So I came away from that quite encouraged and then spent a while going through the fairly thorough LA application form (the same one for a casual gym instructor as for head of social care by the look of it!).

All I ever wanted when I did my Les Mills initial module 4 years ago, was for Anna and I to be colleagues and share the Combat classes. When I got shit-canned by the gym years ago, I really thought it was all over for my BodyCombat teaching. So, to have a chance of teaching it again, even occasionally, I'm well chuffed.

Sorry I’ve been awol but still exercising. I’m at 208

Bounce class (45 mins)
Fair bit of walking, not really fast enough to count as proper exercise but a lot of it was up steep hills!
