Active for Life class: 10 minutes only on the treadmill: 3 sets of 10 leg extensions at 19kg; 3 sets of 10 leg curls at 26kg.

Senior Flex - usual mix of cardio, stretches, abdominal work, upper body work with 3.7kg. Some backward rows.

Usual instructor was back and informed me that he wants me to do Park Run tomorrow. Have told him I might have to walk it.

5k walk
3.5k run
Zumba (20 mins)
Yoga (20 mins)

25,800 steps

WearyAuldWumman · 08/08/2026 21:18

Did my second Parkrun, accompanied by our coach.

I didn't expect to do well, given all my missed training, but my time wasn't quite as bad as I expected - two minutes and 35 seconds slower than my first.

Partly, I ran out of puff; partly, I tired my legs too much with leg extensions and curls yesterday (before I knew I was doing Parkrun). Shall avoid using a Friday as leg day in future. ETA I admit that I had to walk at times.

45 minute Musical Theatre Fitness class.

Two things I've noticed - as @BezMills suggested one time, choreography is getting easier for me with practice (and no, I'm not just talking about the MTF classes). Secondly, since I started the running my knees have improved. (Indeed, my osteopath has commented on it.)

Today, I forgot to wear my knee braces to class and yet I was still able to do (wee) jumps.

WearyAuldWumman · 09/08/2026 14:28

Can't remember whether I've said - Pitreavie Athletics Club was on tour yesterday. This meant that there were well over 200 people at the Park Run (and they nearly all lapped me).

Those who lapped me included: a wifie and her dog; a mum and her 7 year old; two dads each pushing a buggy containing twins.

The person who passed me on the last strait was a woman was nearly 80 and shouted "Well done!" as she went by.

I have never been to parkrun. I know I couldn’t run it at the moment but maybe I should go and try walking it and see if I can build up to running 5km again? I’ve done c25k a couple of times and I know I can run that distance (but I am not a natural runner and the love for running has never really kicked in).

Yesterday - 55min bike ride, 12 min yogalates and 10m cheesy walking workout. Today - 26 min weighted vest walk, a bit of swimming with the kids and 12 min yogalates.

Alittlefrustrated · 09/08/2026 21:05

Home again.
60 x 25m swim
135.

Honestly, I think you'd enjoy a Parkrun. I fund it to be a very positive experience.

Bounce class (45 mins)
Bit of walking

13,000 steps

stilldumdedumming · 10/08/2026 20:52

I have
Friday 60x25m swim (there was an all out lane war - not pretty). And then lower body.
Saturday. I did the long walk. 8 miles but included a 2 hour lie down part way. The mileage was not advisable.
Sunday 20 min Pilates ring workout.
Today I had a rest!

haha! I had a new guy in Boxercise last night and we always finish with the same choreographed aerobics boxing track. I always say to folk 'don't worry about the choreography, if you're moving you're winning'. So anyway he just takes this to heart and does the most random stuff during the track. I don't mind at all, it's not an exercise to music class and I can lead this track in my sleep - done it 200+ times. It was just amusing to me seeing him throwing air bombs with wild abandon and no relation to the music.

I said it and it's true 'if you're moving, you're winning'

Having said that, I twanged my back a bit doing deadlift the other day. I guess I could say I went too heavy after a break but I don't even think the weight was the main issue, it's that I lost concentration and did a bad lift. I just about got away with it - keeping it moving and doing little exercises on the floor like hip curls etc. I'm going to BodyCombat anyway because I want to, and because I kind of think if I tell my mate J I'm not going, he'll not go either.

So I'm going to just do Zone 2 BC, which I always say I'm going to do when I've got an iffy back, and I usually get limbered up and feel fine then start throwing mad shapes.

WearyAuldWumman · 11/08/2026 10:47

I hope that the back is sorted soon @BezMills . I hate back trouble - it's the worst.

I laughed at what you said about the 'random stuff' - there's a lad who goes to many of the Musical Theatre Fitness classes and that about describes what he does whenever there are jumps. I often miss out the jumps, depending on what my knees are like that day.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 11/08/2026 21:46

Busy day today!

5k walk
Barre class (45 mins)
Pump it up class (45 mins) (full body workout with dumbbells - I went up to a pair of 8kg for the first time today)!
Shesensu class (45 mins)

23,600 steps

WearyAuldWumman · 11/08/2026 21:59

Musical Theatre Fitness - 45 minutes.
Simply Stretch - 30 minutes.

Comtesse · 11/08/2026 23:15

Have just finished my 30 day challenge with yogalates (Kassandra on YouTube). I have actually really enjoyed it. The strength aspects of Pilates has been a real challenge, very much recommended, and will repeat the whole sequence again in due course. Have it’s definitely made a difference to core strength, absolutely have more muscles than when I started! I have done an Adriene 30 dat challenge before but enjoyed this one a lot more.
15 minutes today for the last session and then a 15 minute toning workout too.

Alittlefrustrated · 12/08/2026 21:38

Yesterday - 55 mins badminton. When you're playing a 15 yo boy it's very energetic, so I'm counting it. Actually, if it wasn't for dodgy joints I think I could be good. As it is, I wouldn't dare play often enough. My elbow complains.
136.
Today - 60 x25m swim, 55 mins somatics class.
137.
