A literal footnote.
I've come to the conclusion that the orthotics that the Ladybank (Fife village) podiatrist made for me are actually better for me than the custom fit pair that I got from the NHS.
In order to get the NHS pair, I saw three different podiatrists: one to fit, one to hand over, one to check when I had problems.
The podiatrist in Ladybank watched me walking, measured my feet and made up Vasyli orthotics with added wedges. Watched me again and made the wedge for the right foot higher than the left.
I'm finding that the NHS custom orthotics often make me feel that the right foot isn't fully supported, so today I put the Ladybank custom orthotics into my trainers, and I intend to wear them over the next week to see how I get on.
