A literal footnote.

I've come to the conclusion that the orthotics that the Ladybank (Fife village) podiatrist made for me are actually better for me than the custom fit pair that I got from the NHS.

In order to get the NHS pair, I saw three different podiatrists: one to fit, one to hand over, one to check when I had problems.

The podiatrist in Ladybank watched me walking, measured my feet and made up Vasyli orthotics with added wedges. Watched me again and made the wedge for the right foot higher than the left.

I'm finding that the NHS custom orthotics often make me feel that the right foot isn't fully supported, so today I put the Ladybank custom orthotics into my trainers, and I intend to wear them over the next week to see how I get on.

Thanks @WearyAuldWumman - have never heard of MFT- will google.
I did a slow day 1 of week 5 c25k, followed by yoga in the garden- shade, and some bedtime yoga tonight.
Well done to all !

WearyAuldWumman · 30/05/2026 22:46

@Buntyforgirls If you Google that with 'Gill Dryburgh' you should find brief reels of it online - she takes several classes in the east of Scotland.

50 plus x 25m swim - we only have 1 lane for lane swimming and it was 🐶 eat 🐶. One woman was getting frustrated but she was wearing bloody flippers, so obviously no one else was going to be as fast as her 🤣

Edited

Flippers?! That’s nutty! Never seen that before (not that I am much of a swimmer)….

Imthefunfriend · 31/05/2026 09:40

Hi everyone! I’m new and hoping to walk 10k a day, every day in June. I did this challenge a couple of years ago for one month and felt great. I’ll be posting my km’s each day if that’s ok!

Alittlefrustrated · 31/05/2026 17:25

Welcome Imthefunfriend! I like your plan. I can't walk every day but I'll join you by doing some form of exercise every day in June.
Today - Just over 6 mile walk straight after breakfast, before it got too hot. So pleased with myself, as once again I was a Billy no mates. Maybe I can do this walking on my own after all 🎺

Imthefunfriend · 31/05/2026 17:32

Well done @Alittlefrustrated! I would appreciate the company! I took a walk after lunch, 8km so about 5 miles. It took me 2 hours. I also walked my DC to and from football this morning so already hit my 10km target for today.

I really struggle to find the time on my work in the office days, but I need to do something every day in June because I’ve become stuck in a bit of a rut.

Will try and post daily for the accountability Wink

45 minute Body Balance class in Cowdenbeath; 1 hr MFT class in aid of charity in a local church.

Walked there and back and heading for another wee walk shortly.

3k walk x2
Wind down yoga (20 mins)

BezMills · 01/06/2026 05:33

yesterday I finished putting a new roof on our little bike shed. I definitely felt the weight of the hammer putting in over a hundred of those little nails in!
I have some quite gnarly DOMS from training on Saturday morning. I still can't get over how harsh that workout was. I mean I'll be there this Saturday because it's super handy to the house, but boy you can really tell the guy is ex military.

It made the average Crossfit session seem like a spa day - no wonder these Marine Fit lot keep turning up and doing so well at the Crossfit competitions!

Buntyforgirls · 01/06/2026 11:19

Pilates and bedtime yoga, yesterday and today.
@WearyAuldWumman that looks so much fun- the class here is called chi chi fit- might give it a try.

WearyAuldWumman · 01/06/2026 17:24

45 minute Body Conditioning class which again turned into a Strength Yoga class because the original instructor was off. [Overdid things at a Kettlebells training session, apparently.

I'm now wondering about trying to do Yoga regularly.

45 minute Senior Flex class - cardio, stretches, light weights.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 01/06/2026 20:55

6km walk
3km walk
Yoga class (1 hour)

18,400 steps

Imthefunfriend · 01/06/2026 21:25

I didn’t sleep Angry So frustrating!

I literally spent most of today walking here there and everywhere. Logging a massive 32km and 40,500 steps. Feet are throbbing.

In the office tomorrow so I’ll need to go out in the evening to hit my 10km target.

WearyAuldWumman · 01/06/2026 21:27

That was 90.

No gym tomorrow. Shall get some urban walking in.

stilldumdedumming · 01/06/2026 23:49

I am here with 132
lots of swimming, Pilates, core and legs. However I am feeling quite unfit and heavy.
I will go back and read.
off camping Thursday to Sunday. Wet forecast and I’m not sure how much exercise we will get in!

Alittlefrustrated · 02/06/2026 17:33

50 x 25m swim
106/300
I'm afraid my June didn't get off to planned start, had day off yesterday 😳
Some of your step counts are amazing. Do you have active jobs? If I don't deliberately go for a walk I'd only clock up about 2000!
Edited to say I'm retired.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 02/06/2026 17:46

@Alittlefrustrated I am a teacher in reception so on my feet most of the day. Before I started deliberately trying to increase my fitness and get more steps in I averaged about 8k per day just from being at work. Now I walk to work every day which takes over an hour and walk halfway home, plus go for a shorter walk at lunch time. I also walk to and from my exercise classes in the evening and sometimes go for a run so my steps are always close to 20k now.

I'm a retired teacher. I laugh when people think that teachers just sit behind a desk all day.

WearyAuldWumman · 02/06/2026 20:53

9,868 steps, but those are only the ones when I was carrying my phone...so I'm counting this as 91.

stilldumdedumming · 02/06/2026 21:15

My step count is pants. I have been so rushed and stressed today that I skipped off yoga. I have a core class to add though.
i wonder how to tell if I am overdoing g it. My village gym is increasing its classes. I already do 2 or 3 per week. Honestly you can do so many. But it is so tempting. And it is amazing value. Over 60’s pay £20pcm and can use all the facilities.

that’s 133

WearyAuldWumman · 02/06/2026 21:57

@stilldumdedumming That is excellent value.

stilldumdedumming · 02/06/2026 22:01

I know. It’s quite basic but family run and all are welcome. There are 17 classes per week and the staff are really supportive. As well as a decent gym. It’s my kind of place

Buntyforgirls · 02/06/2026 22:21

Long work day, so only yin yoga today- hoping it will give me a good night's sleep too.
Impressive step counts- I meet 10k daily , but am interested in upping. Might start by adding a post dinner eve walk...
