50 x25m swim
100/300 - woot! (I'm sure you've made that up WearyAuldWumman But I like it 🤣).

MummyInTheNecropolis · 25/05/2026 21:19

I had a busy weekend so didn’t do any proper exercise until today, except walking, but it wasn’t really fast enough or continual enough for me to count it!

Today was better:
Long brisk walk around big park
Shesensu class (45 mins)
Evening yoga (20 mins)

16,000 steps

Honestly I credit Pilates with greatly improving my pelvis stability that has helped me walk much better with dystonia. And I’m a yoga teacher!

with downward dog I would experiment with the position of your hands and feet. Bringing them closer to one another so it’s halfway toward a forward fold might help. And have a go at bending the elbows too so there’s more kind of buoyancy in your pose. Wide legged dog is less pressure too.

I have 2 hours of yoga for today. Was brilliant. A great group and plenty of scope for personal exploration.

Thank you!

WearyAuldWumman · 25/05/2026 21:51

On the downside, I'm just back from a big dinner with a couple of drinks. On the plus side, I walked there and back. Couldn't have at one point, though I felt my dodgy right knee with most steps.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 27/05/2026 08:25

Yesterday:
Couple of long-ish walks
Barre class

17,000 steps

Off to the coast for a couple of days today so won’t be doing much other than strolling along the sea front - I can’t wait!

WearyAuldWumman · 27/05/2026 11:09

Forgot to post yesterday.

3 sets of 10 lat pulls, 21.5 kg.
45 minute Musical Theatre Fitness Class followed by 30 minute Stretch class.

Seem to ache all over today. Wondering how long my joints are going to last...

I have a couple of classes today. Shall post again once I see what I can manage.

BezMills · 27/05/2026 11:32

I had five lunatics turn up for Boxercise on Monday and on Tuesday it was my turn to train at BodyCombat. I was intending to bike it but the heat is stupid here, so I took the but most of the way and walked the last mile, scurrying from shade to shade as much as I could. Combat was awesome as always. Stayed out of the water yesterday to let a teeny little wound on my knuckle heal scab up a bit.

went in this morning at about 8am, water was lovely and my swimming felt good. I think a day off was needed! I expect I'll go in tonight after Boxercise to cool down.

Buntyforgirls · 27/05/2026 15:40

Yesterday was a slow, early morning run around the park, followed by yoga in the shade.
Little bedtime yin yoga.
This evening will be pilates.
Weather like this makes me wish I enjoyed swimming, a cooling dip would be rather nice! Maybe, an ice -lolly instead!

Alittlefrustrated · 27/05/2026 18:15

44 x25m swim
101/300
It's a lot cooler here today, but I still can't face a class. I'm not beating myself up about it, as I have a condition which affects my temperature control. As long as I do something I'm happy 😊

WearyAuldWumman · 27/05/2026 21:35

Managed better than I expected.

4 min treadmill warm-up, max 7.5kph. Max heart rate 138.
3 sets of triceps pull downs; only one of biceps.
3 sets of shrugs using 16 kg kettlebells and then a one minute farmer's carry.

45 minute Senior Flex class. Cardio - some jogging on spot. 3.7kg for upper body work - Arnie OHP, chest presses and low rows. Feeble goblet squat with one weight - can't go down low with my knees; really feeble star jumps. Lunges, leg swings/kicks, knees up. Can manage these easily, for some reason.

Active for Life Class - 1 hr. 15 minutes on bike, resistance 2 and going as hard as I could. Side raises with 'angel wings' in between - 6kg, 3 sets. Ditto for biceps curls. Stretches.

If it weren't for my stupid knees...

Comtesse · 28/05/2026 09:28

I hate star jumps @WearyAuldWumman (tough on the pelvic floor, but can do 10 now).

Cheesy walking videos for 22mins yesterday, too hot for anything more energetic!

BezMills · 28/05/2026 10:46

Boxercise last night, had 6 in this heat. A very fair-skinned ginger participant emailed in saying she had sunstroke, I guess she'd been out for 2 minutes or more!

Swam yesterday morning and this morning. I feel great in the water, it's all coming back to me! I'm still not swim fit but it's getting easier. I am doing kids taxi for friends that are involved with the sauna, so I've got a free sauna tonight - kaching!

Alittlefrustrated · 28/05/2026 16:48

60 mins pilates and upper body work with dumbell, kettle bell, and body bar. At home - so pleased with my effort.
102/300

WearyAuldWumman · 28/05/2026 16:57

No real workout today. Walked to and from the town centre and shall do a little bit of gardening.

FurForksSake · 29/05/2026 17:32

So hot and not been doing much lately aside from walking. Hydrotherapy yesterday was good though.

Getting back into the swing of things today after a lovely break by the sea!

3km walk
3.5km walk x2
Upper body workout with weights (35 mins)

20,000 steps

Alittlefrustrated · 29/05/2026 22:11

3.6 mile walk - doesn't sound much, but I had no doggy or human company, so psychologically that's a win for me.
103/300

WearyAuldWumman · 29/05/2026 22:56

Active for Life: HIIT on the treadmill - max 7.6 kph. 3 sets of 20 at 96 kg on the adductor. Cool down on the Sparc at level 6.

Senior Flex - cardio, balance work, lunges, sit-to-stand, lower back work, arm work using two 3.7kg weights.

Have signed up for the Run Club. No idea whether it will actually go ahead - the publicity has been inadequate. Supposed to be Wednesday and Friday for a 6 wk block...and I don't know whether the feet and knees will cope.

We shall see.

Run Club sounds interesting @WearyAuldWumman , hope you get to give it a try. I'm impressed by your range of workouts - which do you enjoy the most?

BezMills · 30/05/2026 11:46

good luck with the running @WearyAuldWumman !

I did Marine Fit this morning which is basically just the worst kind of Crossfit workout. I ended up paired with the fittest guy there, whereas everybody else was in threes. There were bits where we had to 'share' and he did a bit more than me, and other bits where we had to do the same work at the same time.

50 reverse lunges together, then 500m run, 100 pressups (50 each in sets of ten, I switched to knees after 20) then 100 burpees (he did 60+ I did the rest), 50 air squats together, then 26 reverse lunges, then pushed a sled thing round the cricket pitch. By this point I was beyond puggled and let him do most of the work. I pushed the sled in and said to the trainer I was done and just sat out the rest of the time. I'm not scared of hard work but you know when enough is enough.

Wandered off home, then drove down the beach and jumped in the water, having to dive through rafts of drifting seaweed to get to clear water. Was lovely to just get a dip in, even if I didn't really do much effective swimming.

I don't love that I baled on the workout - but then again I could just say I came along and worked my socks off and left it all out there. There's no need for heroics. Matey was after inviting me to join in their gym classes but honestly I'm not mad feeling it. It's like crossfit but without the bits I actually like (gymnastics and heavy weight lifting). I'm like yeah na I'm good for horrible gym workouts at the moment, thanks tho!

Alittlefrustrated · 30/05/2026 18:03

50 plus x 25m swim - we only have 1 lane for lane swimming and it was 🐶 eat 🐶. One woman was getting frustrated but she was wearing bloody flippers, so obviously no one else was going to be as fast as her 🤣

It varies. At the moment, it's possibly a tie between Musical Theatre Fitness and the Senior Flex classes.

I like the fact that we're doing a mixture of weights and cardio in the latter and there's quite a lot of banter involving the music from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

The MTF class has been a revelation. I can't manage everything, but at the grand old age of 66, I've discovered that maybe I don't have two left feet after all - and if I do, who cares: I'm having fun.

All the classes have been beneficial, but I reckon that the PIlates and Stretch have really helped my mobility.

WearyAuldWumman · 30/05/2026 21:03

45 minute Pilates class. The Saturday morning class is much more challenging than the Monday class, and I can't get a place in it very often.

Intended to go to the gym and get a bite to eat in the cafe, but had a 'lost my card wallet' moment. Found it in the car after my workout and drove the farm shop instead where I cough had a lasagne with garlic bread. (I'm supposed to avoid too much gluten, but what the heck.) There was also salad.
