Did Iron day 11 today. Liked the workout but using heavier weights is causing me pain where I. Never had pain before. I think I prefer using slightly lighter weights with around 12 - 18 reps as before. My right hip is in pain from the single leg RDL 25kg this morning! It was ok when I did it but not now!

@Gobacktotheworld ooh sorry about your hips! DH just reminded me that I’ll be 60 in a few weeks so not to be so stupid with the weights. He’s right, I’m 20 years older than Caroline and haven’t even been lifting 3 years yet whereas she’s got 20 years of weight lifting experience so she can lift a lot heavier without risk of injury!

Back from the lakes and gave iron pro day 11 a go today whilst half prepping a kale and bean stir fry. I could've gone heavier on the lunges but it just feels wrong to me so I didn't. The standy uppy things were a bit crap as my poof is quite low. Not sure I got much out of that.

I'm off on a yoga retreat on thursday so I'm going to try and cram three workouts in before I go to keep my streak up. Then the yoga will sort me out!

i decided I was going to do a bit of yoga every day this year and I’ve pretty much managed it, I’ve probably skipped about ten days in all. Even ten minutes a day has really helped me I think. I don’t follow any particular program just stick YouTube on and see what comes up in my feed from the yogis I follow and put on whatever I fancy. The long nights are great for yoga in front of the fire. All the pets and even my boyfriend join in then, it’s body parts everywhere crammed onto our small sitting room floor! I always thought yoga was pretty boring but I’m a convert now.

@Fibrous I find yoga hard. I like doing the Tim yoga on occasion though. The retreat sounds lovely !
@samthebordercollie my right hip has also been giving me hip the evening of leg days- it aches when I am in bed and then it is going by the next morning
I was looking at today’s glute session and think I will take the barbell weight down to 50 and just leave it at that.
I have sore biceps this morning after yesterdays session.
I can see that my legs are more muscular already 😬

Ah thanks @Gobacktotheworldmy hip is a lot better today! I never feel single leg RDLs as much on my left side as my right, no idea why as my form seems to be the same, it’s strange! @BigButtonsyou lift super heavy, no wonder you’re seeing more muscle!
this is via a French Caroline Girvan group I’m in, Carolinenot in non workout gear. I think she must have the same problem I do buying jeans, I go for bootcut or wide leg now due to huge quads!

Also it’s interesting to see her next to other people, she’s so petite! Goes to show you how compact all that muscle is.

CG is the same height as me, although I suspect she's a good bit lighter despite all that muscle!

@Gobacktotheworld I love Charlie Follows! She is my go-to when I want to do something hard. If I'm feeling tired I go to yoga with Tim. His cali vibe really chills me out. Although I do like yoga with Adriene if I'm in the mood for whimsical chat.

I did Iron Pro day 12 this eve. I have to say I wasn't really in the mood as I'd just choffed a load of chocolate and had a busy day at work but I got it done. I used a kettlebell for the rows which took me up to 12kg and it was fine. Think I will buy some 15s post payday.

Could anyone offer some advice?
I have dumbells ranging from 2kg to 15kg.
I tend to use my 7.5kg, 9kg and 12.5kg the most.
I wouldn't mind a heavier pair(or just the one!?) For sumos etc..I did the ironpro day one on YouTube and found i could keep up mostly with Caroline's weights and could have gone heavier but didnt have the weights.
What do you all suggest I get?

@TessTickle0 I agree with @Gobacktotheworld before I got heavier hex dumbbells I bought adjustable - 2 sets and then added weight plates as I went along. I then got a barbell . I use my adjustables for any heavier lifts over 17.5 - heavier lunges and sumos and my barbell for thrusts .

Did day 13 today . Could not be bothered to get the bar out so doubled up on my heavy bands. That worked!!
that finisher was really nasty- I said swear words and pulled ugly faces.
My lats have doms from day 12- never had lat doms before.
my birthday is on Monday so will have a few boozy days and nights and will fall behind- I might also fall over 😉🥳

I love all Bulgarian lunges!
I couldn’t be bothered to do Iron Pro day 13 because of all the hip thrusts so did a glute day from PE which was much more interesting. I managed 68kg on the barbell but there were only 3 sets x 1 minute plus 1 minute with band only, so perfect for me. Plus sumo squat, Bulgarian curtsey lunges.
@Fibrouscaroline said in one of her YouTube videos she was 57kg but that was a while ago, I think she’s put on muscle since then.
ive just checked my stats from my Tanita scales, since May 2024 (when I started using these scales I’d already been following CG for 15 months so had already gained muscle from when I started back in Jan 2023) I’ve gained 2kg of muscle mass, her programmes work if you’re consistent

Ah right yeah I’m 56kg so I just need to turn about 5kg of spare tyre into muscle and I’ll be reet!

I did iron pro day 13 this morning after a run and it was a slog. Got my five week streak locked in though, now for a couple of days of relaxation.

@TessTickle0 I double up my weights for sumos. I actually find kettlebells work well for this. I use my 8kg and 16kg together. It's hard to explain, but the handle of the smaller kettlebell kind of slots through the bigger one and I manage to pick them both up holding the smaller kettlebell's handle. It's quite comfortable, so I haven't bothered buying a single heavy weight instead.

@Gobacktotheworld I have most of JM dvds- used to do them years ago- they were great. Then my dvd player broke. Is the no more trouble zones the set of shorter ones? It just goes to show how your body gets used to a certain style of training. Give it something different to do and it really shows!
