Hi all, just setting up a second thread - I hope you don’t mind @Jumbojem but the other one was getting a bit close to ending…

Sorry to keep harping on about the weather but it’s still raining up here so instead of running this morning I’m going to get back on my lovely water rowing machine which I’ve neglected totally since starting running back in Jan/Feb. I miss it (and I miss the muscle toning it gave me) so I’m going to get back on this morning for a change.

Might do parkrun tomorrow or a longer run, haven’t yet decided.

Well done @tinks3110 good luck for your race on Sunday. I too always say I’ll take it steady but never do!

That strength plan looks interesting @OhOneOhTwoOhThree

i have a 10k race this evening. I didn’t sleep much last night and I’m not really feeling it but will hopefully be ok once I get going.

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 01/08/2025 14:37

My target for July was to run more than 67km, which is what I managed in July last year. In the end (after a last minute 8km last night) I managed 80km.

Now my target for August is to beat that!

RunningInto · 01/08/2025 14:52

Hope the 10k went well @Whataninterestinglookingpotato

well done on the 80k @MissScarletInTheBallroom I topped out at 70k for July. I had to drag my tired legs on a flat 5k yesterday to hit that. The most Ive managed is 100k in a month but my goal is to average 20k a week as I avoid injury doing that normally. My DH is 100m+ a month..my body can’t take that level as I walk the dog 5k most days too. Happy Aug running everyone.

Stripeymouse · 01/08/2025 17:59

Wow, you guys are an inspiration. Good luck with your 10ks and monthly goals 👏🏻

Stripeymouse · 01/08/2025 18:02

Do you all feel comfortable running in just your bra and shorts? I really want to because I get so hot, but I haven’t had the nerve to do it yet. Partly because of body image and partly because it feels a bit weird just being out in my bra (obviously it’s in name only)

I do. It's good to air the stretchmarks Grin

My logic is that they wouldn't put reflective trims on (some) sports bras if they weren't designed to be exposed.

Stripeymouse · 01/08/2025 18:13

I’ve thought that too! Mine has reflective strips.

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 01/08/2025 22:05

@Stripeymouse i do occasionally but my most comfortable sports bra is a bit unsightly so I usually go for a light vest and shorts. Races I wear the club vest.

10k race done tonight. Lovely evening for it. Terrain was a bit of a mixed bag as it went down some drove roads which were rough and gravelly with huge potholes and bumps. But I couldn’t believe my time. I smashed my PB despite this being a tougher course than the last one! 45:42! 4th female over all!! (The really fast women that get sub 40s weren’t there tonight).

well done to everyone on your running.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/08/2025 22:19

Woop woo @Whataninterestinglookingpotato! Well done!

Stripeymouse · 01/08/2025 22:30

Well done @Whataninterestinglookingpotato 👏🏻 amazing time.

xsquared · 01/08/2025 23:16

Well done @Whataninterestinglookingpotato on your 10k performance. A fantastic time! Did you get an age category prize?

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 02/08/2025 06:05

thanks all.

@xsquared unfortunately not as I’m still a senior for another month and everyone ahead of me was also a senior. If I was a month older I’d have been first in my category! 😂

hey ho. Still super pleased with me effort.

xsquared · 02/08/2025 10:46

And so you shoud be! Onwards and upwards.

Did parkrun today and was first lady there for a change. Usually I'm around 10th or so.

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 02/08/2025 10:50

Well done @xsquared thats fantastic!!

parkrun also for me today as dd is back form uni and wanted to go. Not my best time after last nights efforts but 3rd female and 1st in my category. So not bad.

Stripeymouse · 02/08/2025 11:00

Well done ladies, amazing Park Run results. I went too. Perfect weather for it today.

xsquared · 02/08/2025 11:06

Thank you. Well, I think you deserve a break given your recent 10k performance, and being 3rd female and 1st in your age category isn't too shabby either!

RunningInto · 02/08/2025 12:10

Wow amazing parkrun results well done.

It was nice and cooler this morning as a northly wind is pushing the stormy weather in for tomorrow. Went out early hoping to do a slightly longer -for me - run but got a horrid stitch at 6k which just wouldn’t shift so did some walk / run home to hit 8.5k. I was on a “had to get home by” time to meet a friend which made it more stressful so cut the run short.

SoapCollector · 02/08/2025 12:41

Well done everyone on your parkruns this morning! I did a parkrun too and managed to knock two and a half mins off from the last time I ran there at the end of may, so pleased with that!

Well done on your 10k time @Whataninterestinglookingpotato that's a great result!

tinks3110 · 02/08/2025 15:29

Well done @Whataninterestinglookingpotato! and everyone on their parkrun times. I intentionally ran a slower than usual parkrun in anticipation of 10k race tomorrow. I still find it really hard to run slower 😂

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 02/08/2025 17:36

Good luck for tomorrow @tinks3110

well done on all your park runs and general runs everyone!

I’ve just got back from a trip to the coast with my friend. We wakes some coastal paths and then had a dip in the sea followed by lunch and an ice cream. All very nice.

BogRollBOGOF · 02/08/2025 19:49

Comfortably sub-30 at parkrun today Grin

I had started off wearing a vest, but the heat got the better of me!
By the time I got to the finish funnel, DS was waiting for me, his top off too!

Our start line is narrow and deep, so quite slow to get going by mid-pack. There were about 100 fewer than usual there, so it was easier to start further forwards and get to pace at the start.

One seeding error I make is misjudging how many 35min+ runners there are now so thinking I should be further back in the field. When I first went 10 years ago and got 30:30, it was quite sparse behind me.

It's great that the distribution of paces has varied so much over time. I've had a lot of gentle parkruns this year with a niggly ankle. I can feel it a bit this evening because I ran hard, but it's generally improving otherwise.

SoapCollector · 02/08/2025 20:08

Well done @BogRollBOGOF a sub 30 parkrun is on one of my running aims for the future 😀

Good luck for your 10k race tomorrow @tinks3110

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 02/08/2025 20:41

Well done @BogRollBOGOF a sub 30 parkrun is great!!

dd1 did it in 34 mins today, she was super happy as she’s not quite finished c25k yet and it was the first time she managed to run a whole 5k without walking! She even ran all the way up the big hill at the end! Was very proud of her!

I did offer to run with her but she told me not to as she didn’t think she’d be able to talk while running and I’d just be annoying 😂.

Stripeymouse · 02/08/2025 21:27

Some fantastic times! Well done to your daughter @Whataninterestinglookingpotato 34mins for her first one is amazing.

I can’t find the right starting spot either. I was too far back today. Time before I was too fast on the off and it was a hard run.
There are lots of people who start really fast then walk after about 700m. Unfortunately that’s where the path narrows. I know it’s not in the spirit of Park Run, but I find it annoying 😂

Whataninterestinglookingpotato · 03/08/2025 11:05

Club long run done today with the marathon training gang. 13.6 miles completed. It was hard going this morning after a busy weekend of running and walking but I dragged myself round and it was motivating to be with the others as I had to keep up and keep going where as if I was on my own I may have slowed right down or stopped. Nice to have people to chat to along the way.

now to make a cheese cake ready for this afternoons bbq! Happy Sunday all.
