30 Day Shred

TheBang · 21/06/2025 10:53

Anyone want to join me?
Yes I know it’s an oldie but I did it about 15 years ago and it was really effective.
I’ve just done day one and the weights and abs stuff weren’t too bad but the cardio nearly killed me, I’m more unfit than I realised.

L3 D6 done 😇

Making up for missed sessions during the week.

I like your new reporting in format @IDareSayWhen I get back to doing the next round, I may adopt it 😊

Fundays12 · 23/08/2025 10:48

L2 day 6 done. I am going out for dinner and drinks with friends tonight so wanted it out if the way

CortadoPlease · 23/08/2025 10:53

L3 D10 and the 30-day shred done 🥳🥳
It’s been fun having the camaraderie of you all and motivation of this thread ❤️ Good luck shredders - no phoning it in! I’ll report back if I get the whoosh.

Well done. I hope you dont mind me asking but have you lost many inches or much weight? I have another 14 days to go yet so I am hoping to see big results

Disturbia81 · 23/08/2025 13:30

I got asked last night by a stranger “if I worked out” and when I said yes he said “I can tell”
Never in my life 😂😂
Jillian was the secret all along

Happyhettie · 23/08/2025 14:51

@CortadoPlease Woohoo! 🥳 Well done! Hope you’re feeling proud of yourself and the whoosh is awesome!

@Disturbia81 - brilliant! Who knew Jillian was the answer!

I’ve done day Level 3 Day 7! The light at the end of the tunnel is definitely getting brighter.
Finding it easier to get on and off the floor. Another day of 27 degrees on Monday. Wonder how I’m a bit thinner will I be less hot 🤨

I have the DVD from 11 years ago but hadn't used our DVD player in years and discovered we didn't have an HDMI cable to connect it to the TV.

Anyway, today, I managed to connect DVD player and TV and did Level 1, Day 1. Can't say I enjoyed it much BUT my pelvic floor seems to be coping with the star jumps much better than it did 11 years ago, which surprised me. I got to the end with a few short pauses along the way.

Will try and keep going. It helps that I know it was really effective the last time round. It helps to have this thread to follow. There was a MN thread 11 years ago too.

I also found Jillian's 'Six Pack In Six Weeks' DVD in my cupboard. I think I started with this one last time and moved on to the 30 Day Shred later.

Happyhettie · 23/08/2025 16:10

Well done @User456778976546 ! Sounds like a mammoth task just getting started. But you’ve done day 1 and you’re off!

I’ve found this thread very helpful - I need to be accountable.

I haven’t lost inches going by how clothes fit - but I wasn’t overweight to start with. My experience would be that the Shred is good for defining abs, less good for arms (I’d probably need heavier weights and more focus) and all those squats and jumping lunges must have been good for thighs and bum. Regular long fast walks work better for me for general fitness/weightloss, but more time consuming of course. It was fun though doing it with you all 😊 And I might get the whoosh I guess.

I know haha
And yes you will feel cooler! It’s great not having an extra layer of insulation.. I like being able to choose my temperature 😆

My arms have got really defined and bigger muscles BUT I had nothing to start with 🤣 I use 3kg and thinking of trying heavier

IDareSay · 24/08/2025 10:23

It's now much easier to get into my sports bra.
There are some vague dents either side of my belly button which may turn out to be developing abdominal muscles when the fat layer reduces.
I am much more sprightly going up the stairs.
My balance is improving.
I can see some muscle definition in my arms.
My posture is better.
A family member I haven't seen for a while said I was looking really good.

These are some of the things I told myself this morning to make myself JFDI because I really did not want to shred this morning!

Round 2, L2 D2 done, 5/30

It was ugly 😫Halo

Iwillclasptheeagain · 24/08/2025 10:33

Well done xx that is a fab list of improvements

Happyhettie · 24/08/2025 18:41

But you did it! @IDareSay and that’s a great list of improvements.

Level 3 Day 8 done and dusted. I’m doing a good impression of a beetroot. 29 degrees tomorrow forecast for day 29. 😬 but I quite like the fact it’s the same number.

Fundays12 · 24/08/2025 22:07

I didn't do it today. I literally have not stopped all week and started a period today so didn't feel great. I will be right back into it tomorrow.

Happyhettie · 25/08/2025 10:23

@Fundays12 hope you’re feeling better today. Don’t blame you for not doing it yesterday, it’s hard enough when you feel ok!

Level 3 day 9 ✔️ nearly, nearly done. Last day tomorrow! Level 3 is so much nicer than level 2.

IDareSay · 25/08/2025 10:45

Round 2, L3 D2 done, 6/30, that's 20% of the way through 😎

User456778976546 · 25/08/2025 16:03

L1 D3 done. It actually felt much easier today and my left knee didn’t hurt at all when it has been painful so far.
I dread doing it, but the relief after is amazing.

I am thanks. I decided to change it uo today as my metabolism seems to work better when I do and did JM Burn Fat Boost metabolism dvd. Omg it's tough and longer but I think i will do it a couple of times a week and shred 4 days a week. I read an article that Jillian said at a later day its fine to mix it up a bit. I also did 16.2k steps today so have been pretty active.

IDareSay · 26/08/2025 10:28

Round 2, L1 D3 done, 7/30

That's ome serious steps @Fundays12 !

I know what you mean @User456778976546 it's great when you finish!

Fundays12 · 26/08/2025 11:34

That's l2 shred done today. It was blooming hard. I would have moved onto L3 tomorrow but am planning doing burn fat boost metabolism instead then L3 shred on Thursday. I did notice I am developing some arm tone this morning which I am delighted by.

Saggyoldclothbody · 26/08/2025 13:19

L3 D7 done ✔️

I think I’ve got to go through them all again to decide which is my least favourite but I think it might be elements of Level 3 (although I don’t mind the plank exercises apart from the arm lift and donkey kick - might have that name wrong - as my wrists can’t stand it and the weights go rolling off).

I have realised how my priorities have changed; my the pins holding my Fitbit to the strap broke just as I was setting up my exercise area and I was on to the internet immediately to see how soon one could be delivered. I NEED MY STATS! I then sellotaped the Fitbit back onto my wrist so I could record today’s session 😂

I can’t imagine being able to do it all with 3kg weights. I do pick them up for a couple of the exercises in each level but couldn’t do the whole thing with them. I’m sure someone said they did it all with 5kg weights upthread because they didn’t have any others. That’s hardcore! 🙌🏆🏅

OublietteBravo · 26/08/2025 17:38

I have 1kg, 2kg and 3kg weights. I mostly use the 2kg. Sometimes I use the 1kg for the second set of reps (e.g. chair squats with a v raise). Sometimes I use the 3kg for the first set of reps.

Happyhettie · 26/08/2025 17:45

😃 I HAVE DONE IT! Level 3 Day 10 completed 😃 30 days all done

I am going to start again and try and be more Natalie. I’ve only got 1.5kg weights. You lot with 3kg or 5kg are super hardcore!!
